Doctors Willing To Prescribe Pain Medication In Louisiana (Page 8)
UpdatedI need to find a Dr. To write a Rx. For hydrocodin for chronic back pain, where can I find one in Southern Louisiana?
Well guys I want to set the record straight. I have posted with the name etech. If you read my posts way back, there were people looking for doctors in the southern la area. If you check, I have definitely mentioned Dr. Boucadray, and another who was his associate Dr. Hubble. But I had only HEARD that they write. I DON'T KNOW FOR SURE. Since I go to Ehlenberger, I KNOW he writes. That is why I was more on to him than the others. AND what is so bad if you are going to go to Ehlenberger, all I was asking for was a little break. I doesn't cost the new patient anything and that doctor was hitting me up for a U/A every time I went there and costing me an extra $25 plus he had me on that damn suboxone costing me a fortune. I would not ask someone to do what I would not do. If someone has a doctor to refer to me, I would definitely mention their name to get a little break for them. What is the big deal? It really does not matter to me. If you want to then fine. If you don't that is all good too. But honestly, if you can look that far back, I was putting other doctors names out there too so to give anyone a decent chance. Most doctors are going to ask that question anyway. I was asked who referred me to him. Just so happens it was a lady that worked at a pharmacy and he thank the pharmacy and the lady after he asked me. Anyway I'm tired and going to bed.
pamj533, if you are going to use your Medicaid, it is best to call the dr and verify that they accept Louisiana Medicaid and your health plan. Bayou Health and the heatth plan websites have drs that take Medicaid Only when you also have Medicare mixed in with the ones that will also take Regular Medicaid.
If you do find a doc that will take medicaid try to make sure he writes or you will be spinning your wheels. Have you tried Boucadray? That is who many are talking about. I also heard of another one. Dr. Hubble. He was Boucadray's associate at one time or another. The last number I got from him is 504-887-7207. I don't know, it might be the same one as Boucadray. But I'm sure you can look him up. Now....I only HEARD that he writes so please don't hold me to it. Also not sure about Medicaid. But it won't hurt to call and ask.

Pam...I forgot to tell you there is a doc in Laplace and another office somewhere but I saw him in Laplace. Dr. Fred Defrancesch. He is located on Airline Dr. Just past Laplace/Reserve area going toward Baton Rouge. He does write and accepts Medicare but not sure about Medicaid. Last number I had from him is 985-651-1900. I forgot all about him.
Pam, and Paul,
Much love am having up and down side effects adding new medications and so forth. Right now as I build up one new long acting I have visual crap usually that affects me with low potassium.
We are all good as far as I know and I support each of you.
P450, Kinda know how you feel. I went to my prime doc complaining of shortness of breath. He kept telling me i'm not taking my COPD meds. I told him all but one cause too expensive and I said sure that's not the problem. This is something different. You know how you know your own body. He refused to believe anything else. I also complained of prostate trouble with frequent urines. He said he will have a blood panel done to make sure no cancer was present. Well what do you know, Two days later after the panel results I got a call from him telling me to check myself into the emerg room. Said my blood count was way low and need a transfusion immediately. Blood count was 5.2. Ever since that I feel fine but they wondered why. Had a upper and lower GI. No problem. They tributed it to low iron because I cannot take iron or any anti-inflammatories because they cause stomach ulcers. So every so often I have to have an iron infusions cause my body is low on iron. I went around for a month like that. He said I could have a heart attack because of that. So I guess that is my type of form of diabetes. I just hope they can come up with a way I can inj. myself as a diabetic can do. Good luck on your meds. Hope you can form some type of tolerance to them. Maybe you can get cannabis inj's. instead. I guess I am sounding real stupid now.
pamj533, did you see the orders that the drs wrote for the MRI? When Medicaid denies a test like an MRI, if the dr believes that it is medically needed, they can contact Medicaid and usually Medicaid will approve it. But, if the only reason that you want an MRI is for an updated test, Medicaid won't approve it and the dr isn't going to bother contacting Medicaid to get it approved.
Pam, regarding your last post about the denied mri & trying to go from emergency clinic to emergency clinic for pain relief..I think you mean urgent care type place which Is open nights & weekends right? I think you're doing yourself no favors with that type of behavior. Why not ask your primary care for help with pain meds until he can get you into a pain specialist?
Keikee, the most opiates that an urgent care facility can prescribe under Louisiana Law is a 3 day supply.. Very few pcp's in Louisiana will prescribe pain meds for Medicaid Patients. One of the reasons is because Republican Senator Charles Grassley sends a letter to Louisiana Medicaid every year, wanting to know what Louisiana Medicaid is going to do to discipline Medicaid Providers that are high prescribers of opiates and several other drugs. This has been going on since 2010 in Louisiana and a number of other states. If a pcp prescribes opiates to one Medicaid patient, that dr knows that soon he will have countess Medicaid patients wanting him to prescribe opiates. Louisiana Medicaid pays drs so little that there is no way that a dr can survive when all they have is Medicaid patients. If you have Louisiana Medicaid, almost of the pcp's tell patients that need pain meds that they need to see a pain management dr. The problem is that Louisiana Medicaid won't pay pain management dr. There are a few other specialists that take Louisiana Medicaid that might prescribe pain meds, but that is it. And with the new cuts that are being made to what is paid Louisiana Medicaid Providers, it is going to get worse.
BL I'm not sure why you're addressing your reply to me since I was responding to Pam's delemma re:going around to different area urgent care places for pain relief. Which I advised her not to do. If you'd read my response to her, you'd see that.
I'd be surprised if any urgent care doc would offer or agree to write her any narcotics at all but apparently she has had some success doing that, even if the relief is brief. I don't live in Louisiana & have a headache over the laws of the two states I do spend time in.
Keikee, I may have misunderstood your reply. I was just letting you know that no one can go to an urgent care type clinic and get more than a few days of opiates in Louisiana. If someone goes to an urgent care frequently for opiates, they are going to be flagged as a drug seeker. If they are on Medicaid, Medicaid will also flag them as a drug seeker. They may find it difficult, if not impossible to find any dr that will prescribe them opiates.
Posters,
If such politicians continue to break the LAW by doing what BL suggests they will be in prison!
Please people respond to support here and reach out to those who know and give support only!
BL,
You should be ashamed REALLY do you think Medicaid claimants are going to swarm like addicts to get a few days of drugs for that is what you describe really BL. I really hope you need Medicaid in the near future so you can be in a group that you so describe yourself a part of.
Medicaid claimants are no different then anyone else they are HUMAN and if in pain require pain relief!!
P450Metabolizer, I'm not stating my beliefs. I am not receiving Medicaid. Some of our clients received Medicaid and I helped them when problems came up.
I never said that those on Medicaid shouldn't receive help when they are in pain. I didn't have anything thing to do with writing the Louisiana Medicaid rules and Laws. I am not responsible for the way that Medicaid Providers treat and prescribe to their chronic pain patients or other patients. Unfortunately, what is going on with Louisiana Medicaid and chronic pain patients as well as other patients, is not new.
I'm by Coushatta Casino and my Mother forgot her meds in Houston....... Could use your input or any help on where near here or state line this can be solved without going back. Thanks
