Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 99)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

The letter info with the petition isn't me. That letter is Marianne a nice lady in AZ. She did all the work. I'm just on board, trying to get something moving to help the chronic patients, before they take all our medication away.
I think part of what is happening, is that DEA comes out with a Directive, and all the clinics and doctors offices panic, and figure that it's just easier for them to not prescribe, than everything that they have to comply with when they do.
I'm really afraid that if we don't get some Congressman or the White House on our side, we are going to be without anything that we need.

rainbowflowers,
I am so sorry. I did go through that, and it's awful.
I feel lucky now, because I wouldn't have the wonderful man that I have, if I hadn't gotten that divorce.
You are right about not breaking down in front of your children. It makes it hard for them and even if they don't say, it's hard on them watching you go through this.

Mr S promised me that he would get me to a 2 out of 10 on the pain scale as long as I work with him and he works with me... So I don't know why he wouldn't continue helping me.. I told him I would do UAs, I would do random bottle checks, anything they want so they see I'm legit. The first time I went in Mrs S told me that if my PCP isn't treating my pain he isn't doing his job, and that now that I'm with them they will take care of me..... I am going to be crushed if they don't continue helping me....

rainbowflowers,
I feel for all of you in your area. It's a large area, so you are going to have more pain patients than those of us in this rural area. From reading the posts, I think you are right that "Sick of Junkies" person created a lot of trouble for all of you. Maybe that person works at the clinic, or knows someone who does. None of my business at all, but that person may have called the clinic because they were mad. I was wondering, it's hard to tell from the posts, but if you are right also, about that it was that Charles guy, or someone he knows.
I got prayers headed your way, that this all blows over and it doesn't leave anyone without the medication that they need.

I called and left a message describing my concerns and asked him to call me back because I have finally found the most understanding, caring doctors I have ever met and I will do anything to continue being seen, UAs, bottle checks, anything. I also do massages, acupuncture, physical therapy, chiropractic, and inversion therapy, with tons of stretching and light exercising, and I will do whatever is necessary to continue being their patient because they are absolutely the most caring and loving practitioners that I have ever seen and I just can't get let go AGAIN over something I didn't even DO!!!! If any of you don't want to believe me about my situation with the "writing on the paper", I don't care because I know the truth. So hopefully they call me back and discuss all this with me. I'm just stressed to the max right now. And I said if they aren't going to see me I would like to know so I have a little time to try to find another doctor or if they want to let me go at least give me one more month so that I can have time to find a doctor. But I just want to stay with them...... he told me this morning when I did my 2 week call that he was busy and we would talk about the ambien he wrote me and how it has been working when I come in for my appointment because he was with a patient. So I said I will see you then and I'm just praying and praying that I don't have to go through this AGAIN!!!!!

Wendy I have to apologize to you because I was suspicious of you because you knew so much about how many people had left CPR and how quickly, etc.
I realize you are no different than me, just trying to survive and deal with the pain, so my apologies to you!

I go to Cpr and my husband goes to Smiths. All my info was straight from the source. I'm also the first one to warn all of you that if you all left cpr at once and went there it would look bad.I tried to help you all .This is out of hand .Finally a clinic that takes medicade , but there now so paranoid their turning real patients away..Cindy, I won't tell you it didn't bother me when most of you ignore me.I will except your apology. Thank you

Hi, Wendy! Just for the record, I thought it was the woman whose name started with an A. So, if you happened to change your name one day and come on as her (ha!), then I sincerely do apologize :)
I know I'm "no one" in the long chat that you guys have had, but I do feel for each of you. I have some undiagnosible back issue that people have been poking at for three years... With a husband and two little children, that means a daily struggle and then a nightly one because I don't sleep much. I'm sure you each can identify with being on the edge of "losing it".... And that's where I am.
Mr. S is the FIRST person to listen to what my symptoms are and TALK to me about trying to figure out what's going on. I think I would be devastated if he suddenly let me go... I wouldn't know where to turn.
Not in a weird way, but I think of each of you in my day and say prayers for comfort, strength, and peace.

Bill DPM prescribed Butrans patches for you?! Last I knew, no one at DPM was certified to prescribe anything but Suboxone tablets which are pretty ineffective for pain. Butrans-Suboxone prescribers are a unique bunch, usually psychiatrists and highly trained pain management doctors.

Yes Denver Pain Management prescribes Butrans (buprenorphine) 10mcg/hour patches for me. They work great and last seven days.I also receive 210, 10 mg Narco's each month. The combination of both drugs do not make my pain go away but it does make it tolerable. So I can go about my daily activities, and be somewhat functional. I've been going to Denver Pain Management for about five years. Recently, the doctor. I normally see has quit. They have a new Dr. Jason Montgomery, who is not as good as Dr. Benoit, but I'm still able to get the medications I not only have extensive spinal fusions, but I also have BAC, and my right lung. Rose Medical Center removed to tumors from my lungs. The first week of March 2014. Dr. Benoit was a great doctor and I wish I knew where he moved to.

Bill, I'm glad you've found relief from much of your pain.

Hate to tell you this, but I'm familiar with DPM, as you are. Jason Montgomery is a Physician Assistant, a PA-C, not a doctor. Don't take my word for it. Look at the public records for doctors at the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies called DORA. This houses medical board licensing, sanctions etc with lots of information. I think you'll be surprised.

JM had a huge problem in Indiana. He was practicing medicine without a license or degree. That's on Indiana's equivalant of DORA.

Every pain patient might consider checking your doctors through DORA Colorado.

Bill, I wish you only the best. I like a phrase written by someone on this forum, but I don't know it exactly. Anyway it's something like this "may your pain be a 2 or lower, on the pain scale each day".

Pain is worse than the pits!

Hi Bill. I have a feeling we'd recognize one another as DPM patients waiting in the lobby. I was a patient there for an extended time, too.

I'm curious, when did Dr Benoist leave DPM? Did others leave with him?

Thanks.

I tried the patches and got extremely sick. I just couldn't stop vomiting. I had high hopes for them too.
So glad they work for you Bill
