Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 98)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

A new law goes in to affect Monday and any medicine that is a hydrocodone combination such as Vicodin and Lortab are being re-classified and you will need to bring in a new prescription each month like you do on drugs such as oxy. The letter I got from Target said their are other restrictions will apply.
Another BS law on a pretty basic prescription :(

I can't fathom that they had 100 new patients!!! I'm sure CPR is making the S's life miserable. So unfair :(

Anyone that left cpr or was fired as a patient will be noted as a drug seeker so I am pretty sure that is what happened, the smiths finally did their job and checked the patients records and when they called cpr bang! Everyone just upped and left cpr for no good reason except you couldn't get your meds that same day or more since they cut them down per dea not Charles. Then one clinic gets 100 patients from the same place hmm sounds like a red flag so cpr didn't have to do anything you all did.

Wait just a second I don't go there. And I'm terminal. I told everyone this would happen I'm at CPR I didn't get fired. The Smiths are not Pain mangement

Lucy please let me know what happens when you go in because you were a CPR patient and I'm deathly afraid they won't see me after two months of good visits. I am going to call them tomorrow and ask if they are still going to still see me, because I literally have no other options...... Why would they just automatically take everyone from CPR and not see them? That just seems completely unfair. GOD I'M SO STRESSED RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!

I went and I have a brain tumor , Mrs S told me I look fine and she hurts but doesn't take all these meds .Mr Smith wanted to take me on before this stuff she took one look at my med list and freak out She told me there a doctor now going to send people to pain management .The Smiths aren't MD so that is one problem.

I am actually doing really good. Not sleeping much, but that is due to the change in seasons. My body will adjust soon and I will have to play catch up. I hate to clean, but with grandchildren it is a necessity. They are my whole world.

Rainbow Flowers, I am very sorry to hear about your divorce, after 16 years, that must be devastating. How are you holding up, truly?

Oh Wendy I am so very sorry. That is just wrong. I can not believe that this has happened. There is really only one pain clinic in Colorado and that is "the place". Unfortunately they have a monopoly on the market and they can charge and do whatever they want.
They used to offer PT, but they even took that away, but kept charging for it.
I wonder why a Primary Care Physician can not cover or have a pain plan for their patient? Does anyone know the answer to this question?

Wendy what I hear you saying is Mrs. S was judging you based on how you look, how SHE deals with pain, and your pain medication list. Am I correct in what I am hearing? And if they are not Dr's, are they PA's? ( In my opinion, not based on facts ) Sounds to me like "the place" called them and alerted them, also called the DEA or some other authority and told them some unfounded stories. This is becoming more and more of a nightmare.
And since when can you not look for a better doctor, get a second opinion, find a cheaper option without being labeled " A DRUG SEEKER " Personally I think that is BS!

Smalls unfortunately all these new laws have the Doctors running scared. If the DEA is going to continue to write ridiculous laws then they should have well educated dedicated pain management clinics available that people can go to and be verified that they truly need these meds and are then prescribed them.
The "pill mills" such as CPR make it difficult for the real pain patients. We should not have to live in fear of where our next pain med will come from or who will be our next Doctor.

You are so absolutely right about ridiculous laws are going to continue to be written unless we contact representatives to do something about it. Posts 1793 and 1794, is the information for a petition to try to help the chronic ill and the white house to let them know what we are going through. We all vote and we all pay taxes even though we are chronic pain patients and we need to let our voice be heard.

We stopped in this week after P/T to say hi and that we'd see them Monday. He was just as friendly and smiled..I'll let u all know what happens. They are both nurse practitioners and there's apparantly an MD that oversees them (take a look at their bus. card). I'm confident I will be seen and treated next week. i HAVE to be,

May your day be a 2 or less on the pain scale..actually I'll take a 4.

Thank you to all of you who sent their sympathies regarding my sis who took her life cuz of severe fibro. She couldn't tolerafte pain meds she was always in pain. I was angry at her for a while (she's the only family I had out here - the rest is in NY) until my doc at the time said "what wud you do if you couldnt get pain meds and your pain was at an 8+ 24/7??" I had to admit I could relate and forgave her. I have 3 grown children and 1 sweet grandson who is the light of my life so checking out is not an option. But I worry about myself and all of you..if and when we can't get appropriate medication...and we are living in our prison of pain...how many will get to that point where we are so tired of hurting AND emotionally hurting those around us???

Lucy,
That's something I worry about too. What will happen to all of us, if or when we can't get the medication that we need to function? I worry that there's people who can't deal. Look how upset and how our anxiety rises whenever someone talks about taking away what we need to function.
That's part of the reason I think we need to get signatures on the petition and get something going with lawmakers on our behalf. No one who isn't sick, or doesn't live with someone who is, or maybe has a loved one, cares what we are facing every day. Not just our illness, but all the rules and regulations that are being changed on what seems like a daily basis. No one cares how they are effecting the chronic patient with the constant changes.
I don't think your sister was weak, I think it just stacked up on her where it was impossible for her to think about going on. That's the sad part of suicide. Things will change but once you have committed that act, sadly you aren't here to see the changes. You know that anyone who does that, has got to be so sad inside, it's hard for any of us to imagine the despair.
The abusers or junkies or whatever people want to call them, are what is motivating lawmakers and "do gooders" to try to fix the system. It's easy to change the laws that affect us, we follow the rules anyway. It's hard to address the drug problem in our country. So they are taking the easy way out, picking on us. We don't seem to have anyone speaking out for us right now.
