Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 83)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

I did write the number down before you asked for it to get taken down. But from experience now mac and I have put the docs on here and then its like a flood of people and then it gets hard at our clinics and then what happened to mac happens, we love helping but we can't chance it again and you really did help ALOT so thank you.

Tammy2, who is your rheumatologist?
If SAS doesn't work out I have a list of Dr's that are RA centric. I'm sorry to hear about your eyes. People think RA is arthritis, but it's not even close. From sugarmans disease to fibro to losing my voice if it's not a joint it's an organ getting abused by our rogue immune system.

I have a doc for that but I would be happier to have just one that is doing all my medical care instead of having to go to 5 different docs for my issues. Dr. May did give me a name of a doc in Duncan but he doesn't take my insurance so they said they won't see me. And my Pcp doc is no longer in practice. Its hard to find even a pain doc to take me as a patient because of the pelvic pain. But the eye specialist said our eyes are actually joints and when you get flares your eyes get inflamed as well which causes ulcers and over time we will go blind unless they can slow down the ra or at least make it where we don't get as many flares. Just would be nice to have maybe 2 docs instead you know?

I got my meds from the delivery pharmacy thing today and he didn't even ask if I was me .No I, d nothing I don't like that at all .What I ment by free at sas was it doesn't cost 180 so junkies can use medicade especially now that cpr are reduce ing oxycotin ir and going by the book .

I AM sorry if I am part of the problem.... But, meeting the Smiths was really an answer to a prayer. I have not felt HEARD in a long time, and I've been shuffled from dr to dr over the last 3 yrs and more so after the last month. The last time I saw my pcp here in the Springs, she seemed to be over and done with me... And it really hurt my heart. I've jumped through a thousand hoops, doing whatever these dr's asked, and none of them really give a crap. The Smiths LISTENED and EVALUATED and READ my material... And OBSERVED. We spent over an hour in examination and talking. I don't need that every time, but I felt like they actually cared about me, the person, versus me, the next time on the clock, you know? And, just so you know, I only take one small dose of a strong med... Nothing crazy and nothing that would throw flags. So, I'm sorry if I caused anyone to worry, but I am so very thankful for the info.

I'm glad the legit people got help I'm legit I have brain tumor , a shunt hydroseflus water on brain , my brain in my spinal Colom I have seizures but I won't go there to sas right now till all this calms down . as RN before I got sick so I know how the clinic works Dea thing looks at places .If you flood a place with pain patients real or not Dea gonna put restrictions on them just like every other pcp. When I was at Cpr 4 others were talking and about them wondering if you all got wat u want so they must be easy .That's wat u dont want a clinic to get a rep as being a pill mill .Every junkie in town on public assistance will be there .Cpr lost 23 people to them in 5 hours for pain that's alarming and puts big red flags up for Dea .I bet if you told half the people to go to pain management of Colorado half would get any meds .

Wow... That is super scary that they are getting such a huge flood of people!!! I had no idea!!
I would hate for them to get shutdown ... They are really nice people. Hopefully they're good at weeding out the bs!

mtngrl you are right. They are incredibly above all others I have seen in terms of care, understanding, listening, not being judgmental. I felt like it was an answer to my prayer as well. I would have been SOOOO screwed if Lucy didn't tell me to try them. And on the phone they said "we take care of everything as your PCP, not just pain medications". And I am fine with that, I want to stick with one doctor only after all this crap that happened with the discharge from CPR. She said I had to think and make the choice of getting some meds from my PCP and then some from my PM or just seeing them. I said I think it would be great to JUST see them so I only have one doctor that helps with EVERYTHING!!!! And she agreed. And said she can tell I am far from the drug seeking type. All my PDMP records were in tact as they should be, they looked over my MRI and X-Ray, sat and talked with me for about 45 minutes (which doesn't happen hardly anywhere!!!), and they even saw me without my insurance card, I just had to get my member # and what not and then bring in my card next month. I'm just happy to be under the care of ONE great doctor that wants to help with EVERYTHING and isn't constantly checking my pee, all she wants is to see my bottles every month and I told her if she wanted me to I would do UAs. Now I just have to get over the pharmacy stigma with being discharged, but I feel as tho the hard part (finding a great doctor) is over, so now I just have to convince the pharmacy that I was screwed and they are more than welcome to confirm my prescriptions with my new doctor. Kinda ranting here but it is just like a warm blanket over me knowing that I am seeing someone who truly cares and simply wants to help with all my conditions without judgment. She knows I am legit just by looking at me (and my PDMP, but mostly just by talking to me). People say God doesn't exist, I say this is an answer to a prayer. And I will NEVER take it for granted.

MAC... It sounds to like they will support you and help you get what you need. From what I read, there is NO PROOF that you did anything to the script... So as long as you stand strong and develop this relationship with their office and their office only, you will be fine :)

Well the only proof there is is that they sent it to the DEA. But I even told the pharmacist they were for the 27th and he still called CPR and said they had been tampered with!!! It's such bull, but maybe it will be good in the long run. I just hope SAS doesn't go anywhere anytime soon.

I'm happy for you Mac. Try not to worry too much about the script as the DEA has a lot more red flags for CPR such as 23 people leaving in 5 hours.

Really 23 people left cpr in 5 hours? I want to leave because they are listening to a ex cop who couldn't cut it on the force and is telling them lies about what the law is on medications and who they should treat and who he thinks they shouldn't. On top of how they treated mac, if they are doing outrageous things then pretty much they are now going to be a loose cannon and no one is guaranteed to be treated with respect and compation which if they end up losing all their patients and Leonard has to close then that is their fault and maybe they should hopefully open their eyes NOW before they do loose more patients. How do you know for sure they lost 23 patients in 5 hours Cindy?

MtnGrl and Tammy2, thank you both for your feedback. I just read my message and it looks like there's some sentences missing, lol. Anyone reading it was probably like..."whaaa?" Anyway, I have one child and I want so badly for him to have a sibling so having even a partial hysterectomy seems like too big of a decision to try and make right now. I have stage four or five endo, along with other GI problems. There's never a day where my stomach doesn't hurt or I don't feel nauseous. It's so exhausting, not just physically but mentally and emotionally. Tammy, that bowel problem sounds absolutely awful! I already have issues there because of the endo and GI problems and that in itself is bad enough. I'm glad I found this forum though... having people to communicate with about these things is helpful. I'd like to talk to some of you outside of this forum because I know things are edited for privacy. It's rough when you have people in your life that don't have chronic pain and sickness and just don't get it.

Anna... I had great ob/gyns here in the Springs... A husband/wife team at Blue Skies.... I didn't have major issues but they are super knowledgeable.

I have a few thoughts after reading posts this week.

First, in regards to the pharmacy and employees there working with CPR...just so we can keep this thread and assure it's here for a long time...maybe we shouldn't attack that guy personally. Cop, shop keep, cobbler, whatever he is, was or will be, it's the ones that you dislike the most that end up getting the best of someone. Kinda like the one snake you must catch is the slickest. I know it's anon here and they do a great job of keeping it that way, but libel and slander is something real. Just a thought. I have a list of medical people I hope I see again one day so I can tell them just how much I can't stand them lol. I also keep that list quiet because I had the luxury of working on all sorts of homeowner insurance policy cases including libel and slander. Naturally, I'm not the boss of anyone, just a note.

Secondly, I am so thankful that everyone posts here and keeps this thread active. When I got sick 5 years ago I felt like the oddest duck ever. I was too fat for the success group of weight loss surgery people, I was too small for the regular wls support group. The RA support groups were either for kids or were all people over 50. I was 32 at the time. Then the fact that I wasn't responding to treatment at all. At first it was, well the first year of the disease being active people get significantly worse and plateau, then it was same thing but 2 years, then it was I must be doing something wrong, all the way to it's the pain meds that are giving you pain. Brilliant!
This is honestly the first board/thread/etc that I feel like we get each other. We all have horrible body malfunctions and they're all so different, but we all know how upsetting it is for someone to miscount your refill days. They say it's just one day...pffft, no it's not. It's one day, it's the pain, the withdrawal, the playing catch up because your med level dropped and it takes more to fill that empty well now, the energy to try to stop it from happening, the energy to do something when you're sick and hurt and here comes the WDs. It's the people at the pharmacy, judging you, other customers thinking WTF is wrong with her? The anger followed by the guilt for wishing pain on another. The fact that you know you aren't high and speaking Aramaic, but everyone else seems to think that x number of pills will make you high and unreasonable. The fact that even after you take your dose and maybe get some sleep, pain will wake you up and what you wouldn't give for no pain. Honestly, I can't remember what it is to wake up, get out of bed, shower, eat, go to work and not plan, think, act, recover, repeat for every single thing I do. All the stuff we face with chronic pain from our varied issues and the last thing we need is to have our character dragged through the mud, judged unjustly and cast aside like an old tabloid.
Thanks everyone on the thread. Thanks for helping me, each other, yourselves. We don't need pity or charity. We need some basic respect and a wee bit of trust. That which one would give any other person going into a clinic for say...dental work, or eye glasses. I hope that SAS is successful and doesn't run into too many bad apples that have spoiled our pies. Perhaps if this one clinic can do good, another might find it's way open offering medical care for a whole person. Everything great started somewhere and probably small, unknown...just an idea.
I hope everyone has a beautiful holiday weekend, less pain, and better days.

CPR is losing people because of the new clinic that takes medicade SAS and give you anything you ask for like burger king . I was there when a few people mentioned it.And the doctor told me a lot of seekers left over the oxycotin ir and are going to seek help there .Everyone there knows now of the SAS placev.Cpr is going by the book there happy bad apples left .But makes red flags for SAS junkies chasing pills. Now looks like pill mill over nite .As long as sas can give meds your ok Mac but it will be in your file he already started process .

So sas is a pill mill because they are helping people and by no choice of theirs got flooded because of this pharmacy guy trying to dictate what and how the doctors treat their patients? I am sure sas will start weeding out the junkies especially if you have to bring your prescription bottles with you so they can count and if they keep getting more people that just ask for pain meds they will start saying no but cpr had already got rid of alot of people before because they changed how many oxycodone ir patients got a day so really its no different than before at cpr the only thing that changed was the pharmacy guy and dr. May quitting and I know the pharmacy guy had some part in that also because dr.May called him on his b.s. and wanted no part in his crap.
