Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 32)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

CJK, I would just start calling as many doctors as possible to see if they treat chronic pain with opioids or not, and if they say they do then try going in to see them. And if you can't get your heater going try to grab an inside-safe propane heater. The Mr. Buddy Heater works great. That's what I have for if I ever lost power in the winter or anything like that. If you can get your heater up and running, awesome. But I don't want you to freeze which is why I mention the propane heaters.

Hi Mac, Just feeling upset with all these rules the Government (DEA) put on us. All these restrictions making it so hard on all of us. Everything is cool. Just feeling frustrated for all of us. I won't keep to myself. It's just gets to me at times. Lol my friend. All is fine!!!

Right or wrong, knowing names of your medications is how doctors are trained to look for signs of drug seeking. I'm annoyed that people can't spell their medication names, you SHOULD know your meds and how well you do on them, even from manufacturer to manufacturer but it seems that is a major strike against you. My doctor retired, and I found out while in the hospital out of remission for malignancy. Doctor that took over practice turned it into a procedure mill, there are no more nerves for them to cut and the last nerve I had cut got botched, terribly infected and destroyed nerves that were never even an issue before and HE dropped me (suing him now, have no choice)! Retired doctor found out he did this and wrote for me for over 6 months so I could leave the hospital. Obama is tuning our healthcare system and doctors, all doctors are terrified to write for anyone b/c it's a witch hunt and you know someone is going to fool any doctor, so basically one patient screws up and WE ALL PAY. Forgive me but what is CPR? I only know it as resuscitation, but clearly you speak of something else. Also, going into your pharmacy of 1 day or 20 years & screaming at anyone that works there is just asking for trouble. Like it or not, they lump mist pain patients together. Only good thing about cancer I suppose, but it's really awful b/c I have severe auto immune disease, have for decades and I needed pain relief for those many times more than I've needed it for malignant pain. I feel for all of you that are scared, hurting, under-dosed and don't know how you'll get through another day. It's wrong, I am scared too, I'm currently on home hospice (you can go on & off, just not more than 6 mos. depending on the circumstances). My pain mgmt. is so costly now, but hospice doctors don't have the DEA breathing down their necks. Why don't they ban alcohol, many people abuse it. I thank God every day that I have a great team of doctors to see me through and reading these posts brings back awful memories. I didn't fill (yes I returned them) several scripts for pain meds that I didn't use, I was trying so hard not to use or need them. My last appt., the doctor gave them to my husband and said fill every last one b/c I don't know what next year (2014) holds and they know I don't want to receive my PM in the hospital. I am allowed to take my own medications most days, or my family can administer. Once I'm off of hospice I will fill every script and start getting more for my B/T pain because I think things are going to get much worse and we will have no choice but to be admitted. I want to die at home in my own bed where I am loved, well cared for and feel safe. Someone please tell me what are the new laws and limits? Currently I have use Fentanyl lozenges, lollipops or spray (depending on what's available), fentanyl patches, IV Dilaudid (only for intense, crying can't breathe pain) and IV Benadryl for the itching, and Aloxi and Zofran IV for nausea & vomiting. Also have old scripts left over from before hospice (over 1 year old but my doctor told me not to throw away, they are effective much longer than the 1 year mark and worse thing that happens is they will be weaker than they were but not dangerous). To everyone out there, try to get your doses down, save what you can so you are not stuck if supplies and doctors run short. Sad thing is, you can find an unscrupulous PM doctor easier than a well-trained and competent one, just look for high upfront cash only doctors. I think sadly, you have to do what you need to do to be comfortable (just be responsible w/your dosing or you may end up in worse shape). Hope you all get the care you need and deserve.

MAC686 (can't remember now)!!!

Anything you or anyone else can post on work at home opportunities would be greatly appreciated. Medical expenses are killing me and my Mom said she could "work form my home" to help w/expenses. My Fentanyl citrate lozenges w/insurance, cost over $1000, that's out of hospice which is making the financial stress unbearable. There is little to no assistance for us b/c we made the mistake of contributing to our respective company 401K plans. Seems if you buy a house you can't afford, don't pay your bills and spend more than you make on non-essentials THEN you qualify for all sorts of help, but if you live w/i your means and save for your future, you are screwed. No wonder our national debt is so high, we pay people to screw up (not saying everyone getting assistance is a screw up), but how do regular working people pay these outrageous medication costs? Seriously, I've tried everything w/no luck it's so frustrating.

I'm wondering what to expect for my first visit with CPR. I have all my MRI, CT scans and such. Does he normally prescribe you something the first visit?

Thorsen I feel the same way. It's absolute BS. That's why I got upset with that lady who called me judgmental of people who do it recreationally to make themselves feel high because they're addicted. THEY DON'T HAVE PAIN AND THEY RUIN IT FOR ALL OF US LEGITIMATE PEOPLE!!!!!! I'm just sick of it. And Obama is trying to make the government run ALL healthcare. SOUNDS GREAT OBUMMER!!!!! Because the government does such a great job with everything, let's hand over our healthcare. I pray that we get an AMERICAN president and a congress and senate that will hear the American peoples' cries and answer them. LIKE GETTING RID OF PIECE OF S*** OBAMACARE!!!!

Goodness, what a road u have been on! Just wanted to clarify a few things, I should re-read my posts before posting! In my last post, I was addressing three people at once! First off, u r absolutely correct, everyone should know your meds, their names and dosages and what works! Unfortunately, this is also a double edged sword for us that r in pain management! Sometimes answering them what has worked before, lights off sirens and such that we r drug seeking! I find being honest is the best but sometimes it does bite in u in the butt! CPR is Colorado Pain Relief! A group up in Wheatridge that gives awesome care and many of us go to! If u got the "screaming at my pharmacy" from me, what I was actually trying to say is that the pharmacist was the one yelling, out of frustration and no, he does act like that normally but after knowing him 20 years, he has no problem expressing to me their side of things and how very difficult it's been there for them! Many doc's I know have been expressing the same frustration! I would never yell at someone regarding this, yelling gets u nowhere, we've been trying to figure out who besides our representatives could we write! When doc's r so stressed, pharmacies regardless of what the script says has to cut your dosage, something's wrong! Also, u should check with your pharmacy, it maybe different with hospice but typically, even Pepcid, the script is no longer good after a year! MAC, I had to b honest, from what u said and it may have been in relationship to using the internet for other things, I thought u were thinking on ordering! The reason I was worried is many order from the internet things like tramadol, even Motrin and stuff like that, thinking it's cheaper! It maybe cheaper but the side effects from the fillers can kill u! Don't forget, I was down 23 min and still have issues with both remembering what I'm saying and sometimes comprehending, so when I go whacko, just ask! U know I'll answer u and honestly! I do have to ask! Like Thorsen, I got the feeling u we're looking for someone else and asked a while back if CPR was having any issues! I had to make an ER run, ran into my gutt problem but went early and were able just to stay 2 nights, not the 12 two months ago! Of course it was after 5 sticks to get an IV in and a physician assistant that was such a jerk that I wanted to whack him one! I've been on these same meds since starting at CPR and somehow it was put in my chart that I quit my drugs! I tried to explain to him that I had previously been on a much higher dose and that the decrease didn't affect me nearly as much as I thought it would! I was on a high oxy dose and low ms dose! They increased my ms and decreased my oxy's to 3 a day and had no issues doing it! ER doc's being the great listers that they r wrote it wrong, it was corrected up on the floor but the PA acted like I was some drug seeker! I basically said, yeah, I run in every couple of months for Zopran and phenergan (which is why I have no veins and they r putting a port in) just for the heck of it! I can't take large doses of Zofran due to my heart! He pissed me off! He said "aren't u on a pain contract)! I told him yes and take a look at my chart, which indicates that CPR is notified of every admission and gets copies of all records! There r many wonderful PA's out there but there r a bunch of want to b doc ones that seem to feel their job is to get every drug addict off the street! The doc actually apologized for him, especially when he realized I had brought my bottles because my dosage goes up and down during the day, on a consistent basis but if not done right, I'm up all night! Grrr! Not my favorite stay! Tammy, u r so right! This was the best thing that happened to most of us and I value each and everyone of u! Here's to a better 2014 and educating government!

Yes bring all mri's, tests, etc. He does prescribe the first visit and they don't take insurance and its $200 the first visit then $175 after that. But just let him know what has worked so they know what to put u on. If in doubt call them and they will let u know what u need to bring. You will love the staff, PA, and doc there.

Brynn, I really feel for you. I to had trouble with the 401K with losing so much. The medications are made to be so expensive we can hardly afford it or can't afford it at all at times. I just don't understand why they are so cruel to make it so hard for sick people who can hardly function because of their Chronic intractable pain. The Goverment employees don't care because their health plans are so good plus when you have a big name you can't get any type of health problem taken care of. Its a sin they make things so tough for the regular hard working people. Brynn, I understand your conern. I wish it gets easier for all of us one day! People in pain and people that are sick should be taken good care of in this United states of America. It's really getting to be so sad out there. Brynn, take care and I wish you the best. Thorsen.

Hello all, It looks like i may be in the same boat as some of you... i dont like Oxycodone or hydrocodone. Opana is one of the meds that work for me with out any side effects like constipation or and over abundance of euphoria. it just allows me to be good enough to get up and move around.. I have back issues and chronic headaches most likely caused from IVIG infusions while i had a concussion from falling in their parking lot one year.. We have literally tried everything my back issues are in the mid back and they told me the surgery was too dangerous and even if it was successful i would still most likely be in pain. i'm on full disability and now my doctor for many years has quit. i have many other doctors to try but i'm covering all my bases.. Extended release is fine but at night i cannot sleep on them and have many sleep issues and i no longer take any type of RX sleeping meds or anxiety meds like benzos... i was on 4mg of xanax to sleep... when that stopped working they added ambien cr... they all stopped working even with multiple combos of sleeping meds and i went off them and detoxed.. it was crappy but i got off those since it was just waste of money and was only doing more harm than good... now its just the opana and migraine meds along with medial marijuana and now since its legal in Colorado i didnt renew my card.. not that its much of pain to renew but it did save me 35.00. So if im honest with Colorado Pain Relief like i am with all my doctors am i going to waste the 200.00 when i come up positive for THC? its been 5 almost 6 years now that i have been on Opana. i prefer the IR but will take the ER.

I have a ridiculous amount of medical records as i had some great insurance and i tried like hell to be fixed.. I seen so many different doctors in hopes of being well.. but during that time i was only prescribed pain meds by my main doctor but referred to surgeons and neurologist i would rather have my life back and willing to do the dangerous surgery in hopes of being fixed.. i'm middle aged if that matters.. i also had a high paying job where i was treated like a king.. they even worked with me until the end when i had to step down do to my illness.

so out of all that... Too Long Didn't Read.. Can you come up positive for THC at the CPR Clinic? and they would still help you. i have real doctors recommendations for marijuana.

I was In a drunk driving crash about 3 years ago. I was on 3- 30 mg oxys a day. When I moved back to Denver I found a great doctor that truly cared. All I told her was what my history was and what meds I was on and she filled them for me.she refilled my meds twice before I had to see her face to face again. When I saw her again she made me drop a ua. It came back dirty. So I was not allowed to come back to get my meds again. I found another doctor and told her the truth about what had happened at my other doctor. She told her me to take a ua before she can give me anything it took them almost 2 weeks to see that I was clean. I was in so much pain it made me want to do street drugs again but I didn't I waited. She finely give me 20 vic 5s that said not to take more then 2 a day. I spent 125 bucks to see her and wAited for two weeks for meds that didn't help at all. Then they sent me names of doctors that could help and that my doctor couldn't help...I need a doctor to help sobadly!!! I just want the same rx I had before... I will never drop a dirty ua again I've been hurting so bad with out my meds... help???

I honestly don't know about the THC! I would expect if u r honest, tell them this combo works, there wouldn't b an issue since it's legal! U can always call and ask! It's sure worth trying !

I am having problems receiving pain medication, I have degenerative disk disease, herniated disks, am aarthiritix spine, I have pain in my neck and both my knees, I have had five surgeries on my left knee, I have a bad rotator cuff, surgery on my left elbow. All I am receiving is 5/325 oxycodones a total of 60, this is not enough to last me a me a month. I cannot find a pain Dr in Pueblo which is where I live but I also can't drive 3.5 hours to see them especially for only for a such a small amount of pain medication and such a low dosage. I am only 45 yrs old and I've already had back surgery. I feel I am not being taken seriously. I hope you can help.

I'm in Colorado, I'm going to make an appointment with CPR. My doctor moved and the doctor that took over was a jerk.. so like all of you, I am starting all over.

It's legal. I had a card and they didn't even ask to see it. And now that it's legal for everyone 21 and over so I doubt they will give you any problems. Call them first and ask just to be sure but I come up positive every month and don't have issues.

I live here in Enid Ok and my poor Husband of in bad shape. Could you please help us by telling me the Doctors name and the name of his office. God bless you. I hate that people have to hurt so much. I am in disabling pain as well. I'm on workmanship comp and see a Pain rehabilitation Doctor in the Ok. City area...but he only does WC cases. We both need a nice Doctor that not treating you like a druggie. So frustrating. Thanks in advance. I hope you still receive this message, this has been about a year ago you wrote this. Oh, and P.S After me case is over, we plan to move to Colorado around the Denver area. My husband lived there with his Dad many years ago and loved it and has always wanted to go back...I'm a for it. But, I am afraid I won't be able to find a doctor...you just might be able to put those fears to rest :) I can give you number if they allow that. Peace and happiness always <3
