Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 30)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Thanks MAC for starting this group and subject. All the people have been so helpful already. Looking forward to more topics on this Subject. I hope soon I could put some input to help others in a positive way. Janeygirl and yourself have already gave me such good advice. Looking forward for all the great advice when more questions I put out. I know I can trust you all!! Thanks so much. Thorsen. PS: I'm trying to get my doctor to give me 50mcg of Fentanyl but he still won't budge like he use to. I think 50 mcg would last me for 2 days with the generic. I been through the 50mcg,75 and 100mcg so I know it would work but the doctor just won't listen to go back on 50mcg. It seems he just won't listen. I think its the DEA pressure.

Hello everyone, you are all in pain that is for sure. But have any of you talk to your dr.s about intractable pain and not cronic pain? Some Dr.s treat them differant as intractable pain is pain that cannot be cured or healed or fixed other than treating intractable pain with opiates. Cronic pain they see as maybe getting better or pain lessoning up but doesn't. You should strart to call your pain as intractable so the dr can prescribe stronger and more meds for this. look up Dr Forest Tennant he does pain research and lectures all over the country on pain and how to treat it using opiates. He also treats patient at his office in california. Google him and you may find what he says appliews to many of you.

Hi F100FORD, I do understand what your talking about because I was diagnosed with Intractable pain. My Pain doctor writes it on my prescription. I'm sure most Others I talk to on this site has intractable pain. It's good that INTRACTABLE pain. With all my surgeries and other proms such as Fibromyalgia on top of that the pain gets worse as years go by. I'm sure it's the same for others on this site. I wish there were more doctors to support intractable pin just like the one in California because it's important that the medical personnel start fighting back to help us with the hell pain brings us. I'm sure there are a few other doctors that support giving strong medicines for pain but we absolutely need more advocates to fight for us because the way it's going there won't be anyone to help prescribe these medicines and this surely upsets others and myself. We just want to be somewhat pain free so we can just go on with our life. Thanks f100ford for your important input!

Olladapu, none of us are MDs. We can't exactly diagnose why your mother is having problems. She needs to be seen by a doctor. It sounds like herniated discs in her lumbar and sacrum to me, because I have 6 of those and I get the sharp pains. But like I said, I'm NOT an MD and you can't take my advice to the bank. She NEEDS to be seen by a pain doctor if she is in that much pain. And I couldn't see a blood analysis showing what's wrong. She needs X-Rays and MRIs.

I'm not a doctor but I'll try to suggest to get an MRI of the back to if a nerve is pinched or have a herniated disk. Sounds like it can be a nerve in back which goes down to the thighs as you said which is called Sciatica. I probably spelled sciatica wrong but that should help a little. Get the MRI!

Mac do not go to Unified!!! Ive been there for 1 year. I got a special referral from the dr. who co-owns the place, so at first 8 months was great Dr. Hong was increasing my meds we went the the Fentynyl patch, , it made me feel withdraw-ish, , now i'm up to 60 Kadian and they've cut my Norco 10's to 7.5/325 and to 2 a day. I have another opinion @ kaley Tucker I have seen her one time in that 8 months, it was about 45 days ago, she told me to hang with them while they wean us or go back to my primary care dr. in the rudest way, plus she doesn't know me. I waited for Dr. Hong to also come see me. He explained it like this the Pharmacies, thus DEA are really down our throats. I still have a cyst on my pituitary gland, and it's not getting smaller I have to have an MRI every 6 months to keep measures on it it's 11mm right now plus stenosis , l3-s1 herniations degeneration etc, etc, plus I have dysmenorrhea. I was so angy at this that they wanna decrease my meds and I need this thing taken out (cyst) then I wouldn't be so mad @ them cutting my meds... This is like a joke almosy a 7.5/325 Vicodin, hydrocodone whatever you call it.. I got hit by a car riding my bike in 2006 I been taking vicodin 10 for years...Dr. Hong is cool, Kaley seemed to be nice, but when she has only seen me 1 time, and apparently she has to be the one to tell everyone we're lowering meds...like it or leave it..grr. i'm done complaining, just be careful. I once gave unified a great word, but just like Dr. may's office got harassed a few months ago so did Unified. All i'm saying is don't go to Unified Health Group. I am on my way to CPR, very soon!!

Thorsen, you are so right and I have been on pain meds for over 20 yrs so I know how it is and how the drs treat us that are in intractable pain. Many states have changed the way they look at pain . Finding a dr to treat cronic pain is differant than finding one who will treat intractable pain. Some states have what is calleed the intractable pain act, which allows drs to prescribe larger doses of opiates . I live in Nebraska and this state is firmly against giving opiates for pain unless you have cancer. So I travel to California every three months to see dr that treats intractable pain, it does cost more but its worth it to have some relief from this 24/7 pain. I know of four drs out there that do this. there was more but like other states some drs got away from treating pain patients. Been going to ca. for over 4 yrs now and have found a dr that is very understanding and listens to want you have to say. Doesn't want to change your meds that work.Google dr. Forest Tennant he is a strong advocate for use of high doses of opiates for intractable pain. He is a good man and treats people from all over the country. Many people travel to him for this reason.

Thanks F100ford, I was just curious that if the doctor can prescribe for 3 months if I go out to California. It's sad doctors are really scared to give the strong opiates in most states. If something happens they really get in a lot of trouble from the DEA. My doctor understands intractable pain but you tell he panics just to up a dose. I been on the same dose of Fentanyl patch for at lest 6 years and he won't budge. He's a good doctor but Is scared I guess. Thanks for taking about intractable pain because I did see in at least 3 states its been approved to give stronger Opiates. California, Washington state and I think Oregon. Most likely that s the route I may go because the pain is just so unbearable as you Know!!! Happy New years F100ford to you and everyone else out there!!!

Thanks for the info chaos. And f100, I honestly don't remember how I started it. It was almost 2 years ago. Just look all over the website or email them and they will give you instructions on how to start one. But I think that would be great for you to start one for Nebraska. But definitely get one going ASAP. Us pain patients need to stick together and help each other because it seems as though we're the only ones who care enough to help because we have to live with it. But Thorsen, do you fly out to Cali? And I'm wondering if it's worth me leaving CPR to try a place in Cali. I just feel like I should keep that as a backup in case something happens with CPR. But as of now they control my pain well.

Hi Mac, I was thinking about flying out there if the situation gets any worse where I can't get the pain medicine anymore in New Jersey. F100ford had some good information because he said he goes the California every 3 months. Yes, I would need a backup to for pain meds.If it gets impossible where I live I would have no choice to look into going to one of the 3 states for intractable pain. Like I said they make it impossible to get help sometimes when we really need the opiates for pain. They should not makes us suffer. It really ticks me off where they have Websites on how to abuse the Fentanyl patches which many do. We have to sit here and suffer while others abuse for recreational use. SAD!!!!

Mac, Have u heard of CPR having any issues? The reason I'm asking is a friend of mine who used to use the same GP goes to a different Dr! This guy is on HUGE doses of long acting MS and Oxy! He said his Dr was really upset and stressed regarding this DEA stuff! They r coming down on him hard! He's dropping all of his oxy breakthrough patients to less than 6 a day! My friend asked me about upping his ms but he's already on oxygen and has sleep apnea and I can't see them doing that but he couldn't believe how stressed his doc was! Said u could see it in his eyes, attitude, ect! He's really strict about how he writes his scripts, does ua's, he won't even write for a day earlier if your pharmacy isn't open on the weekend! If this guy is getting it, it makes me wonder if CPR is getting along! I've known of folks that fly to different states for meds! The only issue I c is that the "drug" printouts r eventually going to b cross country! Some already can do! Just keep yourself educated and stay on tract and u shouldn't have any issues! Last question, u guys also having problems even getting scripts filled and prices up a ton? My pharmacy is constantly out and they did tell me up at CPR they have had issues with rewriting scripts due to this issue! Happy New Year to all and glad we all have one another!

Hi F100ford, Things are getting tough in all sates. Looks like New Jersey is such a hard place to find A good Pain Mgmt. doctor anymore. Is so hard to go find a doctor when in such Physical discomfort as we all know! I want to thank you for answering my question about the Intractable pain doctor in California. Everybody on this site has been so helpful. I was just talking about paying 540 dollars for my Janssen duragesic patches. I was shocked when I opened a box of the Janssen patches to find that they changed it to the sticky type of patch without the Gel Pouch like they always had. The medicine goes to quickly into my system and last for about 30 hours. I'm trying to figure out what my other options are so I can get these sticker type patches work for at least 2 days. My doctor gets so touchy about the situation. I can tell these patches work so different on all types of people. Thank you all for all the help and Happy New Years.
