Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 173)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

I see the trend coming. I am at the end of detoxing off all my PM meds, anxiety meds and muscle relaxers all given to me by Lic. TX Doctor. I toughed it out for three weeks and when agony peaked I thought and did my husband that I wasn't going to make it alive but ?? I am still here! My original pain in my back, nerve pain down both legs and migraines are back. So I am going to try some natural ways to try and get it under control as best I can. I have tried everything except that but I haven't been this clear headed in 22 yrs! I am glad I am off all that crap! But, I will tell you one thing in myself that has changed, I do not and will never trust any doctor completely again the rest of my life!!! I am the advocate of my Heath and body from now on!! What I find so strange is I do not crave any of it at all! Now, if I can do that by God I have the power to quit smoking ?? I know there are so many out there suffering!!! My ?? goes out to all of you here!!! I hope to see more peeps out there that are suffering will either do what I did or get help and get off. I am passing you my strength to get through it, the worst of it and yes it hurts very badly at the peak of the detox is about 4-5 days. It's like a pressure cooker in your body, it builds up everyday for about week and a half then you have 3-4 really questionable days you think your going die it hurts so bad. Then you start feeling better and stronger everyday after! If anyone here, wants to know how my husband helped me through it, just ask me?? Thank you to the ones that went before me! You're my heros !!! God Bless Everyone

Just what we've taken..most of it will be sold and the rest will go to goodwill, but we all lived in a 2 1/2 floor building. Anyway to meet u soon? If you have a doctor who is good and not down on pain pill's, he sure is hurting ..take care.

Annette from Orlando, Fl.... have you found a doctor? I lived in Orlando for about 4 years. I moved at the end of 2014 after purchasing a home about 2 hours away. However having been a chronic pain patient for many years, I found the last year that I lived in Orlando to be one of the most trying times since injuring myself. I had a good doctor and Walgreens had been my pharmacy for many years but all of a sudden they refused to fill for me without any explanation. After that It was nothing to spend days going to dozens of pharmacy before finally finding someone that would fill for me. I hope things have gotten better there or I am afraid that the hardest part of getting medication is with the pharmacy even if you have a well respected physician and a legitimate need.

I'm an RN. However, this does not have much to do with anything. I have Lupus, Osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, psoriatic arthritis, degenerative disc disease, and they threw in fibromyalgia just for good measures. I have had neck surgery, ulner nerve surgery x3, thumbs are fused, feet are fused. I have no discs from L4-5, my entire spine is sitting on my tail bone. I recently lost my pain management team because there are not enough patients with good insurance plans in North Denver to make CROM, Colorado Rehab and Occ. Medicine rich, which is what any medical care is about anymore. I can continue with CROM if I can get to their clinics in the deep South of the city. I have the insurances, I just am not able to drive 60 miles to see a doctor. All I have is my husband to take me, but then there would be no insurance because someone has to work. If you are so obsessed with taking that combination of drugs, you need a doctor that looks at your checkbook, not you as a person with pain. That is the most incredible list of addictive drugs I have ever heard of in my life. Sounds like who ever give you these medications was trying to get rid of you permanently. But, I have been there, and have taken myself off all that garbage twice. I am end stage because I am allergic to anti-inflammatories, which are the drugs of choice for all my problems. There is however a relatively new medication for severe pain made for people like me. It is Nucynta. Nucynta ER long term and Nucynta 50 mg. for breakthrough pain. It is the first medication that has ever worked. I take less that 1/4 of the morphine or any other drug given to me and my pain level is down from 10 to 2-3 most of time. I have just undergone my second surgery on my neck, and did not need anything extra post surgery. FYI, neck surgery is third this year. I have not been fused in the neck or back and do not plan to do so. I feel sorry for you if you have this much pain. But, I do not want to anger you, but if I were the nurse working for the doctor that cares for you, the way you rant and rave about these hard core medications, I would want to see you admitted to a drug rehab. These meds do not work long term and you are obsessed. Why not clean out your body so that if you really do have pain, it can be treated. Right now, your ranting is that of an addict.

Toni... If you are replying to the original poster of this thread, he died about a year ago... He just didn't wake up one day.

I'm so sorry to hear this as I feel severe pain is something many doctors do not really want to deal with. Some are afraid of the patient dying of an OD and will have lawyers like the ones I work for come after them. I have not in 6 years seen a doctor be found guilty of this. This is the reason for pain management care now. I lost my group 2 months ago. My M.D. will do my medication til I find another. There is nothing more horrible than having a doctor that will not help their patients when they have so much pain. This is the reason for so many people turning to marijuana

It sounds like there is a lot going on, but not much said since the 18th.

I'm Sarah for those who don't know me, and I'm in the Denver Metro Area. South of Park Meadows I know nothing, north of Boulder, I know nothing. West of Golden, I came from the hills, but know nothing. East of Saudi Aurora, aka my hood...I know nothing...so if you are actually in the metro area I'm pretty sure I can help.

I'm sorry I went AWOL on everyone. My Mom was in the hospital and then a nursing home and now she's home. I had to put my dog to sleep and any of you that know me know how I feel about dogs, especially mine. So today was the first day in a long time I got out of bed because I wanted to, not because I had to.

So it looks like we need some doctor information, maybe someone to offer a ride once a month to a doctor, and some suggestions on chest pain.

For starters I encourage everyone to go to the support group sponsored by this page, you'll be amazed at the positives.

Secondly, if you are seeking a doctor, please reply and let me know who you have already checked out or seen. Are you on opiates only or do you take something else such as suboxone (like me)? Those two points will help me a lot. Also, were you "released" from a program in the past for any reason? Doctors, some care, some care too much, some don't care about that at all, but let's not waste time, eh?

Also, please note if you have a PCP or not, because if you don't that's the first thing I'll tell you, GET ONE. Have one? GO TO THEM FOR non chronic pain related items, like chest pain, or infections, etc. They are you best resource for most things, and if they can't help you they often have an office person that does nothing but send patients to the right place. If you've tried that route and got nowhere, tell me that too. Like those commercials...The More You know! Only I don't sparkle and there is no bad muzak, just Queen blaring in the background lol.

After all that, still need some names? Reply and I will check back daily. I promise not to go AWOL again, and if I do...the posters on here know how to find me.

As for locals in the Denver Metro area needing a ride, or help in a way that's not finding a doctor, please repost? I can usually help with services to contact, and even offered my own driving skillz before...I drive, just not well lololol.

I'll be at support group tonight, and every Wednesday, I've yet to miss one.

For all of the old gang...how are you guys? I missed everyone and I hope you're all okay. Though I was far from a reply, you guys are never far from my thoughts!

Rainbow, Janey, Mtn, Cindy, I know I'm forgetting names...sorry, how are you ladies? Sooz...see you at group sweet cheeks!
