Doctors Who Prescribe Pain Killers In Philadelphia (Page 2) (Top voted first)

Updated

Hi,

My current doctor has decided that it would be best to stop my monthly prescription for 30mg percocets. I have chronic back pain from skiing injuries and other sports related problems. I have never abused or taken more than was suggested. I never got "high" and was always able to work and interact with clients in a positive way. Now without the medication, the pain is becoming a distraction. Does anyone know a doctor who isn't scared to prescribe common pain killers. They are produced for a reason, but recent uptake in illegal abuse has made doctors uneasy with long term prescriptions? I live in the Philadelphia area (main line) but I am familiar with the greater Philadelphia metro area. Thank you and kind regards.

RippedoffinSouthPhilly is a liar!!!!!! I am RC South Philly and have spoke to many of you on the phone and gave you Dr. Info. Darin "Rippedoff" is the lying junkie. I was never at his place. Think about it guys, how the hell would I get out with a playstation??? I am not a junkie so for those of u who responded and said I was obviously a junkie, youre dead wrong.....The real version is that he called me and asked for Dr Info which I provided....Then gave me a sob story about just moving here and needing meds and a new dr. He worked his way around to asking if I could get them off the street. We learned we lived a few blocks apart so we met in the middle. I allowed him to hold my wallet as good faith bc I didnt have the cash on me to cover what the junkie wanted to purchase off the street....I returned to him with his pills, had him count them and all was fine or so I thought. I realized when I got home that a $100 Visa gift card was missing from my wallet so I then called Darin and acted as if I didnt notice the missing gift card and asked if he wanted to put up $100 bucks towards a script I had to get filled (legit from my Dr.) And in exchange I would see him the next day with 30 pills....he met me and I regained the $100 from my stolen gift card!!! Like I said, think about it, who would leave a person they met online on a pill forum alone in their house or unattended. I have spoken to and helped many of you on here. The dude is a liar and a junkie and the reason why people with legit pain issues cannot get meds....Lol hes a clown hoping someone will feel bad like I did and give him pain meds so that he can abuse them...And for those of you that I have helped and spoke to at length, was money ever mentioned? Were any of you ever ripped off? Try rehab Darin!

My husband is a cancer patient terminally ill. I could easily take his medication but NOT. I was a runner for 10 years and have always lived a healthy lifestyle and continue to try and do so. I have practiced yoga have a wonderful acupuncturist in Manhattan and now go to physical therapy. While running I fell, tore both meniscus in my right knee along with tearing the medial in my left and tearing my MCL. I of course had two surgeries by one of the best sports medicine doctors chief of staff at the best hospital. I used arnica I used boswellia all alternative treatments including woodlock oil along with a great product out of Germany call Amol. However I will tell you that when the pain wakes me in the middle of the night or after I'm walking my golden retriever as I haven't stopped doing I will take pain medication! Why ? Because that's what it's for, my two nephews are pharmacists and my two brothers are doctors and until you are able to recover as they said " don't be stubborn taken it" so with that said I too now understand what these folks are going through!!! Who the hell wants to sit around in extreme pain when it's not necessary that is ridiculous. The problem isn't the medication it's the people abusing it and selling it! Other than that I can say I have and will continue to do as I normally do with the continuation of acupuncture etc but I will take that medication before bed and stay ahead of the curve because as I was told " no one should ever chase pain" it needs to be handled before it hits PERIOD

This post is straight up bull. Everyone is on here looking for a dr. and no one is getting help from anyone. It's up to 26 pages long!!! Yet everyone is telling there story like they have to prove they're legit but yet you're getting no help on here. Give it up people. This site deletes your personal contact info. What's the point of them letting all these posts from different states go the exact same thing? Hmmm has anyone even thought that this is controlled by the feds and that's why they allow it to go on and on? Then comes some poor guy/gal trying to help and they or the doctor goes down. Hello people!

im sorry but some of u are so damn stupid!! Why in the hell would u try n post ur number and email for people to contact u that u DONT EVEN KNOW to get u a Dr hook up for pain meds?? im a pain patient myself and am all for opiates in treating pain but come on!! u i***** posting Dr info is the reason y they cut everyone off!! And plus there is 30 pages on this post and there is like 1 or 2 with actual Dr names and info....no one is saying crap except giving their pain stories as if someone will feel bad or something for them....did u ever think that the same way we all can see these sites and posts thats the Drs and employees can all see them too??? This is the kinda s*** that pisses me off....u gotta be real f***ing stupid to give up ur Drs name because u know most of everyone on here is gonna blow their office phone up like crazy asking if they prescribe opiates like i*****.....and Drs dont wanna hear that "inj's. dont work" on ur first visit or "oxycodone is the only thing that helps my pain!" thats prob why most of u get turned down.....they can care less what u been prescribed in the past...u are under a new Drs care which means u follow and go buy what the new Dr says....people think that they go to these places with a list of meds they used to be on and the Dr is suppose to just start writing 180 30s a month.....like come on dont be stupid.....its gonna take ALOT of searching ON YOUR OWN and many types of treatments before u find someone and start getting scripts.....true pain patients are open to any ideas that will possibly help pain.....they dont just go in there and ask for oxys their first damn visit....damn this aggravates me because this is the kinda crap that ruins it for the people that really need them....

This is shy and desperate, I think this didn't make my last few messages. I can't deal with this pain anymore and not getting a pain doctor bc medicines I need for my severe RSD, nerve damage, horrible lower back pain, rediculopothy (misspelled), drop foot, and many other things caused by my problems. I can't take this pain I have no life. I think I might be better off to my family at this point not being around. Doctors that I got into see say I need what I was given by my old pain doc who is no longer around. Every pain doc that I got an appt w bc a lot of times when they here what is wrong w me they know all that can be done for me is meds I have had everything else done shots, spinal cord stimulator, and many other things nothing helps a few things actually made me much worse. I am begging for a doctor who can help me. Not these doctors who don't take the oath they took seriously to help the people who need help instead I get told I would never want to be in your shoes and I don't know what I would do if I were and as much as I know you need these meds I can't help u I want to and I know u need it but I just can't risk putting attn on myself even though u r legit. I am sorry don't want to say anymore bc I know everyone else is in horrible pain as well. {edited for privacy}. Anyone can help me please I can't take this much longer. Thank you for your time!!!!

Hey guys, I posted my number way back on the first page, and then posted my old Drs. Info. He cut me off though and I have serious back and neck injuries. I was told by a few Drs that surgery is too risky bc it may paralyze me, I also can't get massages or see a chiropractor for the same risk. I have tried everything and the only thing that even slightly helps is the meds. If anyone can help me I truly need it and will hook u up, and if any of you guys want to try my old Dr, his info is posted in an earlier thread. My # is there too, and I have spoke to many of you through calls or texts. Please contact me if you can help me or I can help you. Also, a little advice, when calling a new Dr, do not tell them over the phone about pain or injuries unless its pain management. If its a regular family Dr, just say you need a new primary Dr and its for a check up, then once you get there tell the doc about your issues. The receptionist are now told to turn away anyone who seems like a "druf seeker." So as soon as they hear pain or injuries they assume the worst and turn us away. Hope I can help and pray someone can help me as well. Thanks and good luck to all.

Exactly!! You nailed it. Thats a perfect word for you! I would also go with schizophrenic since you obviously had "conversations" with me that never existed. So perhaps they were the voices in your head. Or your hot plastic girlfriend. Why don't you try getting a job so that the rest of us don't have to pay for freeloaders like yourself. You can't make a career out of robbing people, that only leads to getting hurt or going to jail!!

Hi 65gototrips, I am also having trouble finding a doc either in s jersey or philly for 30's or 15's oxycodones. I have had two failed back surguries, herniated discs L2, L3, L4, L5 S1, sciatica, nerve damage in both legs and out of work on disability right now. I am legit and would not share the info with anyone else or cause any probs. Can you please reply to me? I'm also caring for my best friend who has stage 4 colorectal cancer which prevents me from being able to make a bunch of appts. for myself to find the right doc, busy taking her to and from chemo, etc. thanks!

It's Not Just Were You Live,This Is Happening All Over America, I Live In Florida And It So Bad Here You Cannot Even Get You Legally Prescribed Prescription Filled, It's Because The DEA Is Treating Doctors, Pharmacist & Pharmaceutical suppliers Like Drug Dealers,We All Need To Call Every Senator & Congressman/lady. Let Them Know About This Issue Everyday. Don't Give Up.

It's a real shame that so many people with legitimate pain are practically having to beg and plead for help! But it's people who you mention "on the street" that have caused us to no longer be able to receive proper treatment from our own legitimate doctors who are now afraid of losing their jobs if they continue to write scripts for pain medication. The people involved in this illegal activity need to be brought to the attention of law enforcement! So if any of you want things to get back on track we need to all do our part to help stop drug abuse and get these meds out of the hands of people who are illegally buying and selling them!

I am on suboxone I decided on my own to give it a a try I was so tired of the looks at the pharmacy but what a MAJOR MISTAKE I made! I was under the impression that I would get some relief from it, since I have three herniations c5-7.
I'm literally branded for life. I have been very honest with my drs in saying that my decision if start suboxone surrounded pain relief, but not from narcotics that receive such a bad wrap! I need a dr willing to seriously understand how difficult the pain can get and understand why I tried it. I would legitimately stay on it if my pain levels would drop, but they don't and I don't want to get hooked on something worse. If you think you can be of help, I would be so happy. {edited for privacy}. Hope this gets to u but they always block numbers!!!!!

Thanks,
Lori aka "Lisa"

In the state I live in, and the city I live nearest to, there are several Pain Management Specialists who have advanced DEA privileges in order to be able to specialize in the field of treating chronic or critical pain. The clinic I go to has told me that they fill approximately 300 - 350 opioid-type pain med prescriptions every day of every week of every year.

There are 5 doctors in this clinic who are all pain management specialists. This particular clinic allows people to self-register with the clinic, meaning you don't need a physician to make an appointment for you to see one of the doctors at this clinic or the other 3 or 4 of them also in my area.

I had a bad hip and femur break a few years ago, and need ongoing pain medication for it. The doctor who did the hip replacement does not have the same level of DEA privilege to write as many opioid drug prescriptions as do the pain management doctors at the clinic I go to.

Doctors who do get this kind of DEA pain drug prescription privileges have to undergo specific background checks and all have their fingerprints on file with the FBI, so that, should a suspicious script come to a pharmacist, it can be verified to have been written by the doctor that signed the script by checking his or her fingerprints.

In learning this, I now understand why some doctors are more reluctant to prescribe opioids, etc., then other doctors. Much of it has to do with the kind of DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) prescription writing privileges a given doctor has, and a doctor without the kind of DEA privileges required to be able to write lots of opioid type drug prescriptions could find him or herself in trouble if they write too many of them.

I think what you should do is a Google search in your area, looking for "Pain Management Physicians." They are the docs with more legal ability to write lots of pain med scripts, and do so in an ongoing way.

These are the docs someone sees for long term pain management. I know that if I hadn't been informed of these types of doctors, my hip and leg doctor would not have been able to go on filling pain med scripts for me over and over again, for long term pain management. Only Pain Management Specialist types of doctors can go on writing you pain med scripts for years or even decades. No other kind of physician can do as much pain med prescribing as these Pain Management doctors can.

Hope this helps anyone reading this and who has had trouble finding a doctor for ongoing pain management. You just need to find the right kind of doctor with the right kind of DEA script writing privileges to be able to treat you long term.

Do understand, though, that as of this year, new rules for Pain Management docs have been instituted that require this kind of specialist to send their long term patients for blood work that the patient cannot anticipate.

My husband has spinal arachnoiditis and sees the same Pain Management clinic docs that I do, but he takes way more of the pain med stuff than I do. Anyway, he happened to listen in on a phone conversation taking place between physician's assistant and someone he was on the phone with.

My husband said they were discussing the results of this patient's blood work. Evidently, he'd been given drug panels two weeks earlier, and cannabis was found in his body. Evidently, he promised to stop using, and the clinic doc said okay, come back in two weeks and we'll take another blood sample to be sure.

Indeed, the new results showed no more cannabis in his body, and the P.A. and whoever he was talking to agreed that since there wasn't any more cannabis found in his body, he could have been allowed ongoing pain management opioids, except for one little (BIG!) problem. This blood work showed he had methamphetamine in his system, and because of that, he could not get any more pain management drugs period.

Doctors aren't just being cruel when you say you need something for pain and they won't prescribe anything more for you. Most of the time, it is because of the kind of doctor they are. You need ongoing treatment for chronic pain? Find yourself a Pain Management Specialist doctor, and that should help you get ongoing, long term treatment, if you have a valid reason for needing it.

Good luck!
