Doctors Who Prescribe Pain Killers In Philadelphia (Page 3) (Top voted first)

Hi,

My current doctor has decided that it would be best to stop my monthly prescription for 30mg percocets. I have chronic back pain from skiing injuries and other sports related problems. I have never abused or taken more than was suggested. I never got "high" and was always able to work and interact with clients in a positive way. Now without the medication, the pain is becoming a distraction. Does anyone know a doctor who isn't scared to prescribe common pain killers. They are produced for a reason, but recent uptake in illegal abuse has made doctors uneasy with long term prescriptions? I live in the Philadelphia area (main line) but I am familiar with the greater Philadelphia metro area. Thank you and kind regards.

Dr Jay Rosen in west Deptford NJ, he is the best pill pusher I've ever found, was giving me 180 30mg oxy's and 30 20mg contins but then I had an epiphany and realized this is not the life I wanted so I QUIT COLD TURKEY. Go to ProPublica and search for him in NJ.

I have a very bad back and need the right medications. The only thing that works is Percocet 30 mg for the longest time, so I don't turn into an addict. Please help me find a cash only pain doctor in Philadelphia, PA. Thank you.

I totally understand your situation. Sorry I have no answers except to find a pain management dr. Be sure and take your med bottle with you. Im relocating from Va to Tx and having a very difficult time finding a dr for my blood pressure not to mention my pain meds. which ive been taking for 5 yrs due to chronic pain..foot , neck,back and shoulders..im taking 30mg of morphine twice daily (extended release) and lortab 3 times a day for breakthrough pain. My insurance hasnt kicked in yet..i went to a dr and was told they didnt take people with no insurance...i came home and called a few other drs and seems none here take ppl w.o insurance..i thought cash talked..hehe lord what a mess here in Orange TxI never have nor will i ever abuse my meds. Im totally confused as to why drs here dont take uninsured people..i see now why ppl may buy meds off the streets tho it isnt something for me..good luck to you

Guys there is a family practioner who writes for legit reasons....Dr Michael Attanasio. 1700 Ritner st in south Philly....just please don't mention me at all lol. Good luck...I may have found another and if it works I will post the info!

Hey I been dealing with back pain for the past 2 months I'm a union bricklayer so I'm constantly putting more strain on my back. I have tried every over the counter medication to help ease the pain, but nothing is helping. I can't miss work, I would greatly appreciate any info on where to find a doc that would consider pain meds. RC South Philly, maybe you could help.

Where I live some people travel to Mexico and get a prescription there. They can then get pain meds from a pharmacy there.IZKM

If your doc is retired then go to the pharmacy where you got the prescription and get a record of the scripts you filled there.

Penn Pain Medicine is a fraud. Dr. Del Burkey is a madman who won't prescribe pain killers and Penn Medicine, HUP, are only in it for the cortizone money. Cortizone will explode your teeth and give you hematomas, eventually leading to your death. They're full of s***!

Dr.'s take people w/ no insurance all the time.
But you three red flags against you
Your looking for a "New" Doc because you "Just relocated"
You need "pain meds"
And then the blood presure meds.......
Even when its true they instantly think that you are Doc shoping

You are so right! I am a pain patient for the past ten years. I have a morphine pump and need to take break thu pain meds as well. I have never had a problem passing random drug screens but when the time comes that I move to a new location or change my insurnce which then forces me to change doctors; many times I have a problem finding a doctor that will treat me in a manner that will allow me to function within reason! If I am not medicated enough, I can do nothing because the pain is just too great! I am in South Florida and use to fill my break thru meds for oxycodone at Wallgreens. Recently however Wallgreens distribution center was shut down by DEA leaving many of us here in Florida without our medications because they can not longer get it. CVS has also had a number of their pharmacys shut down recently. No one seems to be able to handle the number of patients that are now without their medications here in Florida. This is how I see it! Here in Florida, they let the problem get completely out of hand before they did anything about it. We had more pain clinics than Mc Donalds; many of them just used for the purpose of obtaining illegal drugs. We had many coming in from out of state and visiting various offices and then filling there perscriptions and taking them home for re-sale only to return the following month to do it again! DEA knew this was happening but did nothing until recently and now the people who really need these medications are having a hard time getting there medication. Even with a perscription, there is no one able to fill it!!!!!! It is sad when you go to the pharmacy at a cancer institute after seeing your physician who is treating you for cancer and are told that they do not have the pain medication that your doctor has prescribed and dont know when they will get it. This is not hypothetical, it happened recently here in the Orlando area to my friend. After going to about 20 pharmacys they had to accept half of what there prescription was written for and go back to the doctor who wrote them another script for the other half which we have been unable to find as of yet! I care that the wrong people are getting these meds but I have no control over that! I am angry as hell when I or my friend goes to fill a prescription and no one has our medication! I was once told that pain never hurt anyone! Let me shoot that fool in the foot and see how it feels to heal without pain meds!

I have read many post and feel for the people out there that battle with chronic pain like me, and I know the feeling of trying to find a doctor that will will help you and one thats not worried about the DEA or prescribing meds. Like for heaven sake your a pain management doctor! that is your profession. If your scared to prescribe pain meds then find a new field of work! it makes me so mad when these so called "pain management doctors" wont give pain meds. So i am going to help you guys with a doctor who does and a doctor who truly cares. His name is Dr. Wean. He is located in Media. Its cash only and he's not scared of prescribing pain meds! he has changed my life and he will change yours as long as you have a legit injury and have the right paper work! drug seeker don't even try because he will throw you out faster then cat on a mouse! I hope it helps all you people out there battling chronic pain!

Hey everyone..In the first place for anynof you who were cut off by their octors for no good reason, I would turn him/her into the Medical board. Unless your doctor tapered you down B4 cutting you off or gave you the name of a Pain mangent doctor the he is over steping his authroty and harming you in the process. It is rare but people have died from opiate withdrawls..Now for the people who just cant find a doctor it may mean you need to find a pain managnt doctor..PCP"s can only give opiated for acute pain..Ad believe me when I tell you that people who abuse drugs arent hurting your chances for getting opiates..Most addicts started out with real chrinic pain Doctors know who the abusers are and they will send them to a methadone clinic or to a suboxone doctor..If your doctor says he or she is going to treat your pain with suboxone find someone else, suboxone is the worst painkiller they have. I hope you all find a good PM doctor, I know how you all feel, I am in pain 24/7

Oh and just so you never have a chance to do this again to someone, I'm going to come on here once a week and remind everyone that you're a junkie thief just in case someone new fails to read all the previous warnings. So no more pretend sob stories about how you used to work at UPS and your boss sexually harassed you into quitting so now you need to take massive amounts of painkillers and sit in your bathtub all day to ease the pain. LOL. Have you looked at yourself? I mean I may have been a sucker, but even I didn't believe ANYONE would be sexually harassing something like you. LOL. Or tell the story about how you got hit by 2 cars walking home in the same week, and then point to a random car with zero damage and tell them it was that one and, no, really that's why you need the pills. Oh wait no, now it's because your boyfriend (as if someone would have sexual relations with you) cheated on you with your best friend and no that's the reason you need to take pills. Come off it Robyn. Amazing how you would feel the need to use all of these excuses within the first 10 mins of meeting me. Yeah well you may have robbed me blind, but it won't happen again. No one is buying your bs story that I robbed you all of the sudden. If I robbed you I would have kept quiet and tried to avoid you at all costs, changed my phone number and only when I was really desperate, come back on here to try to rob someone else.
