Doctors Who Prescribe Pain Killers In Philadelphia (Page 7) (Top voted first)

Hi,

My current doctor has decided that it would be best to stop my monthly prescription for 30mg percocets. I have chronic back pain from skiing injuries and other sports related problems. I have never abused or taken more than was suggested. I never got "high" and was always able to work and interact with clients in a positive way. Now without the medication, the pain is becoming a distraction. Does anyone know a doctor who isn't scared to prescribe common pain killers. They are produced for a reason, but recent uptake in illegal abuse has made doctors uneasy with long term prescriptions? I live in the Philadelphia area (main line) but I am familiar with the greater Philadelphia metro area. Thank you and kind regards.

Thanks for the advice. I've actually been in both for years for my anxiety & fibromyalgia. I'm not looking for a good time, trust me. Neither med gives me any type of "good feeling" Lol. I've been on percs & Vicodin before for pain so I know what that feeling is like. Yea it relaxes you & does feel good, but the stories I've heard, no thanks! I'm not trying to become addicted. My Dr's office I'm at now actually got my records from the 1st office I was being seen at so I just have to get my list of meds to take to them tomorrow. I'm also on cymbalta and gabapentin for my fibromyalgia & depression.

Hi, I'm sorry you have all those issues Smh I can only imagine! You're in Philly right? I just moved here in Oct but I found out if you see a Dr in a hospital, like a family practice where you can get a new PCP, you're more likely to get the help you need from specialists because the Dr will write you a referral. I go to Chestnut Hill Family Practice @ Chestnut Hill Hospital & they're great! But the specialist I'm going to for Pain Management is @ Temple. My Dr gave me pain meds until my appt, well I have to go every month to get refills & I'm only on Tramadol but hey, that's what works for me. Any questions luvmykids1207 at G, hope you can read between those lines Lol

I know a place that will help with chronic pain and other issues that prescribe meds, but must pass a drug panel and have records, pharmacy records, and insurance; Medicare no Medicaid though. Two places.

What kind of insurance do u have? If u have keystone health plan east, there r many docs that accept this. Just go to IBX.com for a list of pain medicine doctors!! Hope this helps.

If you have legit injuries and documentation check out Dr Daniel Coachi he has 2 offices but DOES NOT take insurance. 1 in bala cynwyd and wadsworth ave in the city. Hope this helps someone

Dr Priya swamey in Drexal hill. I doubt if she will give u 30mgs but she'll give u something and usually a 2 month supply. She just cut me from 180 15mg to 150, a major mistake, but you'll have to feel her out and see what she wants to do. Warning u must have insurance and beware of her rattlesnake bedside manner!!!! I'm exactly like u and have already been called a liar and a flim flam man!!! Good luck!!!!

Not trying to be a d**k but you realize you are asking for a response to a post that was made five and a half years ago? With all the changes that have happened in that amount of time I doubt any of the info from March 2012 would not be very reliable today. Best of luck!

My doc told me he would give me 3 months to find a pain management dr. I am getting a better medicare plan in February. I have several pain issues from herniated discs to scoliosis. My doc has given me oxycodone for the last six years. Can anyone recommend a pain management doctor in Philly?

This epidemic is from illicit fentanyl and heroin... not from little Johnny stealing meds out of granny's medicine cabinet. This has been proven over and over again ad nauseam... all of the findings and research is there.

I too was on Kadian, vicodin es, and somas, then one day my dr. said no more. I had to go to a suboxene dr. start taking that, which is addicting, now trying to taper off per dr. instructions. Not easy, I'm so agitated I can't even be nice. I was so sick from not having the opiates that I had to do something. Suboxene is the worst. Wish I never got on any of this meds. But an accident has left me in back pain constantly. I'm in Ohio, there are several pain drs. but you really have to go thru hell to get into one. This probably didn't help anyone, but I feel bad for each and everyone of you. God Bless You!
