Doctor In Pittsburgh Pa That Prescribes Xanax Or Klonopin (Page 2) (Top voted first)

Updated

Every doc I've met with here in Pittsburgh Pa will only take cash if they prescribe you xanax.. Very unethical but since I have insurance I would like to find a doctor to prescribe me the meds I need. I would take either although I like the Klonopin better, xanax cause my depression to worsen after I take them... Anyone know of any Psychiatrists that will take my insurance and prescribe me meds?

If you have legitimate documentation and psychiatric evaluations and diagnoses than you should be able to get your medication. Clearly the people posting on here are drug addicts and drug seeking. And false information is given out, and angry patients are making things up about doctors.

I absolutely agree about Dr. Cerul if u went to him with a serious need for help he helped. He always spent plenty of time with me its really sad that people just can't accept any part of there culpability if they misused or abused meds other's needed now can't get

If you need pain relief or anxiety relief do not use UPMC General internal medicine at Montiefieore hospital. They don't care about your pain or anxiety. They will tell you to take Tylenol. No joke. I was in severe back pain, and on xeralto so I can't use Motrin, Advil, etc.(bleeding risk). The pain was so bad I had to go to the ER for pain meds. They just don't get it or worse they don't care.

I had been going to Staunton clinic for 8 years and I'm on methadone and was prescribed 3 1 mg a day. I never abused pills only dope. I've been clean for almost 8 years and My doctor quit so I got this arrogant jerk Dr. S. And he made me take a drug panel and was going to drop me and not wean me off. It's their new policy that they don't give out any benzos. And I was negative on my drug panel too so if they quit prescribing them then why the heck did I have to take a drug panel? Just to get my bipolar meds? Not fair.

Re: THE GOOD DOC (# 4) Expand Referenced Message

Doctors only seem to care about their vacation homes and what they can get away with. Not actually helping people unless they know them personally. Most hospitals cover their asses and go to bat for them to in order to prevent their hospitals being drug through the mud. Rather than actually look at patient's records, they go off their gut from a 30 second conversation instead of looking at a patient's record for med seeking behavior. Doctors only advocate for themselves these days... not for their patients with pain/depression/or anxiety. It's a shame we have to look for a scumbag who wants money and pay cash until he gets arrested instead of doctors doing their jobs and fighting back for their patients who may actually need meds. If you cant prescribe with transparency, who's the scumbag with secrets?

Re: EDDY (# 95) Expand Referenced Message

Actually supposedly Florida is one the most heavily cracked down on states today for controlled medicine. It really is not though. They did get rid of pill mills (those doctors simply prescribe Suboxone now) you can still see a regular everyday Psychiatrist in Florida and they do prescribe anti-anxiety much more commonly in my observations. Almost everyone I knew was on Xanax, Klonopin, Valium or Ativan and I know lawyers, doctors, contractors, major newspaper editors, morticians people of status yet also just everyday people. In the Pittsburgh area it's almost taboo to even get a second opinion on your mental health. It would seem that in Florida they simply don't live with the same fear that Psychiatrists here in the Pittsburgh area do which even here if you have legitimate need to take them, have a medical history of taking it and the money and time to continue seeking second opinions then there is probably someone who will help you out. Its sad that even on here no one will name anyone making this thread absolutely useless other than discussing the issue of why we are treating schedule 4 drugs like they are schedule 1. We have the right to discuss legitimate medical problems and trying to find healthcare providers who are more open minded without spending thousands of dollars yet the only doctor named has already been shut down and the Staunton Clinic has a new policy as of 2014 they don't prescribe any controlled medicine! A system like this I think only will make the Opioid Epidemic worse. S***, I know many people with Opioid Use Disorder and a benzodiazepine is all they needed to stop them from obsessing! Oh well I'm just glad that ultimately I have accepted that I cannot afford to look around and that coming off them may just be beneficial to my quality of life? Having a degree in Psychology, I can imagine that for a new patient a doctor or PA/NP will probably want to see how you behave off of them as they actually work that well. I'm just hoping that as I go through coming off of this I find that I no longer need them to cope as I feel like keeping an open mind to alternative treatments and remaining adaptable is about the best way to deal with what I consider a severely flawed medical system. Is what it is

Re: Heaven (# 27) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Heaven I came across the post of yours I don't even know if you remember it it was in 2016 it was about something terrible that it happened to you and you got cut off your medication because somebody called her doctor and said something nasty things. I'm thinking they were definitely not true and I'm truly sorry for that that is terrible. That's why I never tell anybody my doctor's information.

But I'm reaching out to you hoping that you can help me. I am going to try but I'm not going to lie to you this is probably going to be a long message. I'm going to try to make it as short as possible. It is going to be hard. When I was 11 all of this started and I believe it was because of a traumatic incident with my brother's dad. I told my mother but she didn't believe me. My sister at the time had just had a newborn baby and she said that I was doing this to crave attention because the baby was getting all the attention. Like who would make up something traumatic for attention? I've never gotten over the fact that my mother never believed me. To this day my mother doesn't believe me, but surprisingly my father does. But statute of limitations there's nothing we can do now. But it was basically over a 2 year period and I started to get really bad anxiety attacks. I could handle those but as the abuse continued throughout this two years so did my mental health decline.

I used to be a very extroverted girl. I was very happy talkative very social in school I would talk to anybody I would walk up to anybody and talk to them I had no fear I didn't care what anybody thought of me and I loved that about myself. Thankfully at least my mother saw that my grades were declining that there was a drastic change in my personality I went from being so outgoing and positive to being an introvert. I didn't want to go out anywhere. I had severe social anxiety disorder. I didn't know what it was at the time but that's what I was diagnosed with I ended up not going to school ever. If my mother made me I would just skip school I ended up finally being homeschooled just because it was that bad that I couldn't go to school. I would have severe panic attacks when I would go into the school I would feel like everybody was staring at me and laughing at me and talking about me behind my back. If there was a group of girls that were just laughing probably at whatever they were talking about I just assumed they were laughing at me. I went from having a pretty good self-esteem to it being completely destroyed. I looked in the mirror and hated the way I looked. I hated the way I felt. And I remember just telling my mom all that and so she took me to see a child / adolescent psychiatrist and they work together with a psychologist as well so I would talk with the psychologist and a psychiatrist would write the medication. Obviously I've been dealing with this like I said since I was 11 so I have been on everything the ssris that are the depression medications, that they say are for anxiety, and they work and maybe if I just had anxiety they would work. But my actual diagnosis is severe panic disorder with severe social anxiety disorder PTSD and anxiety. If I just had anxiety I could deal with it no problem. Because of what I've been through I could deal with a simple anxiety attack the worst is the social anxiety and then the panic attacks I get from the social anxiety and then the PTSD comes in from according to the adolescent psychiatrist the trauma. I had nightmares. I couldn't sleep at night and especially when he was in our home I never slept at night. I would sleep during the day hence another reason why I wouldn't go to school. I didn't sleep. I was terrified every night that he would come into my room. So after 2 years he finally moved back to Arkansas and I thought everything would just magically go back to normal. That wasn't the case. I still couldn't sleep and I still had the horrible social anxiety disorder like I said I went from being the girl that would talk to anybody to not even talking to my best friend so I went from having friends to none very quickly and then none of those medications worked.

There were so many, I can name some of them: Buspar - I'll never forget, was the first thing they gave me for anxiety and panic disorder and it did nothing. I swear it's like a sugar pill because they tried to give it to me again later on when I was in the 18 or 19 I tried Celexa, Prozac, , Paxil, Wellbutrin, Lexapro, and there's others that's just on the top of my head. None of them worked. So at 19 I decided to go to a different psychiatrist the one that I've seen up until he retired and left me in the position of it now because the psychiatrist and psychologist I was seeing with more for child and adolescents so they recommended that you know their treatment went as long and as far as they could go. So I went with one of their referrals. The only thing was I had no insurance at the time and I believe he was self-pay. Anyway, he immediately was amazing I mean he listened and he put me on either Valium or Ativan. I can't remember, but I remember him saying it was the lowest benzodiazepine and let's start with that and see how I do with it. Actually yes, I'm almost positive now it was valium. Because it didn't last long because it didn't work very well. It worked very good for the first two or three months and then like within the flick of a finger it just stopped working and I remember calling him in tears in the parking lot of the grocery store saying that I can't go in it's not working anymore, and he said just go home and he'd fit me in the very next day. And that's when he put me on ativan and that worked for a couple years but then something really bad happened on top of everything else with my sister's husband. After that I couldn't sleep. I had nightmares every night so he then diagnosed me on top of what I had with PTSD as well I believed then that I did have PTSD the first time when the other one diagnosed me I didn't think I had it but now I do think I did so he gave me a medication adjustment right away.

He said "I think we should put you on something a little bit more longer active based on the fact that you have ongoing social anxiety disorder". Ongoing panic attacks, ongoing anxiety, ongoing PTSD - the key word is being "ongoing". It's not just sudden like Xanax works more for sudden attacks where Klonopin works for ongoing. So he put me on Klonopin initially 1 mg three times a day, and I want to say for maybe a year it works great I was so happy. I took it as prescribed and it worked I was able to finally work again I was able to go to get my hair done go to a salon go to the grocery store the things that normal people can do, and then again with the flick of a finger the social anxiety came back again and the sleeping was always a problem. I was always having nightmares. I've never sleep through the night.

I still suffer with the PTSD from everything to this day, so at that point psychiatrist knew I wasn't sleeping and knew about the horrible nightmares so he prescribed me Ambien as well for night time. believe it was 10 mg once a night. It worked great, so at the time up to my medication to 2 mg Klonopins twice a day and an Ambien 10 mg at night time and that worked great for years. I mean I finally have found the medication that worked for me and the dosage that worked for me I didn't have to keep increasing my dosage, it was perfect. I was on it like that for years the only medication adjustment he made was he didn't want me to continue to stay on Ambien and Klonopin and he thought would I be willing to take a Klonopin at least try it for bedtime instead of the Ambien so he would do three 2 mg Klonopins a day but one was for bedtime, and I said sure I'll try it ,and it worked. So that's the medication I was on for I want to say five or six years, probably five and a half actually, and now he's retired and has really screwed me.

He gave me referrals obviously but he must not have checked them at all before he gave them to me because none are taking new patients. So I'm so sorry I basically told you all of this stuff and you don't even know me I'm telling you this because I'm hoping that you realize how important it is for me to have my medication. He gave me a refill I refilled it about 10 days ago after that I have nothing and I'm terrified because after this script is gone I won't have any I'll have to go cold turkey, and on top of that I'm epileptic and if you go cold turkey off of Klonopin, it can cause grand mal seizures which are the ones I already get, so I'm really scared. So I'm hoping that if you know any doctor that is a self-pay doctor that will write me a prescription for Klonopin? I live in Homestead PA close to Pittsburgh PA I would really appreciate any recommendation that you have and I really hope you have one thank you so much for taking the time out to read this and thank you so much if you're willing to help me further.

Kelly -- If you know of any doctors that will prescribe anti anxiety medicine. It doesn’t need to be anything specific. I’d be interested in exchanging information if you want to. It’s frustrating that 95% of the people on here doctor shopping specifically for xanax won’t admit they’re on methadone or have continuously failed lab work or don’t actually need them and are riding off a pill mill doctor (which none are around anymore). If you can help me I’ll help you. I know of two separate practices that do write benzodiazepines. They also will lab test at least once a year as it’s law. Depending on your history you could be pill counted and checked every month depending on your situation but if your that much of a problem you obviously know you're not going to receive the medicine. I’ll keep an eye on this forum. Anyone who does know of a doctor that does write this medication insurance or not. I will help if you can exchange information.

The state medical insurance has very strict regulations regarding why a doctor may prescribe controlled substances, such as Xanax or Klonopin, which are Benzodiazepines.

Thus, the doctor's have to go through a lot of paperwork and can get in a lot of trouble, if the state feels that something is out of line.

Learn more Benzodiazepine details here.

There is nothing that mandates that they have to accept any particular medical insurance, or any for that matter.

Additionally, on top of the strict regulations, PA Medicaid is well known for not paying the doctors very much, at all, for the services they provide, so most don't want to bother with it.

To throw another wrench in the works, you may be creating a lot of issues yourself, if you're calling them to ask if they'll specifically prescribe these medications, because most doctors will see that as being drug seeking behavior.

Do you actually have documentation in your medical records that these medications have worked for you?

Facilitation for sales of a controlled Drug must be a Felony? I'm not sure the doctor would appreciate the word of mouth thing posted worldwide on the internet? Groups like the DEA or FBI do read these sites.
