Every doc I've met with here in Pittsburgh Pa will only take cash if they prescribe you xanax.. Very unethical but since I have insurance I would like to find a doctor to prescribe me the meds I need. I would take either although I like the Klonopin better, xanax cause my depression to worsen after I take them... Anyone know of any Psychiatrists that will take my insurance and prescribe me meds?
Re: Doesntmatter (# 129)
I know of 2 that write legally w insurance, however I can't get in touch with the psychiatrist ïd been seeing bc NO one ever answers the phone there and so I had to go to my PCP and they've cut me down to 1/3 of wht I was prescribed in less than 4 months... it's BAD
Kelly -- If you know of any doctors that will prescribe anti anxiety medicine. It doesn’t need to be anything specific. I’d be interested in exchanging information if you want to. It’s frustrating that 95% of the people on here doctor shopping specifically for xanax won’t admit they’re on methadone or have continuously failed lab work or don’t actually need them and are riding off a pill mill doctor (which none are around anymore). If you can help me I’ll help you. I know of two separate practices that do write benzodiazepines. They also will lab test at least once a year as it’s law. Depending on your history you could be pill counted and checked every month depending on your situation but if your that much of a problem you obviously know you're not going to receive the medicine. I’ll keep an eye on this forum. Anyone who does know of a doctor that does write this medication insurance or not. I will help if you can exchange information.
Re: Lisa (# 101)
Dr cerul retired probably 6-7 years ago. Understand that no one in the world needs 90 bars and 120 klonopins. I’ve been on the same medicine myself for years. I just lost my xanax because of failing my second lab. It’s funny how everyone on here says they’re not drug addicts which some aren’t. But to claim you know the only thing that works for you is a benzo is ridiculous. Everyone has dealt with terrible things. We all do. Everyone needs to stop lying cause 90% of you know you're failing lab work or on methadone, and that’s why you can’t get back on your medicine. Besides, that the majority of all doctors are not writing them anymore. There is other medicine that helps. You guys don’t think everyone in the world wishes they couldn’t just take a xanax every time they feel like s***. But my advice is that you don’t ever ask for xanax or any benzo up front. If you have a history of mental health there are doctors that will work with you. Don't you realize when you tell a doctor “only xanax works for me” that you’ll never ever get it for sure? Stop begging for it. If you have the history there are still a few doctors that will help.
Re: Bailey (# 124)
I know what you’re talking about it’s crazy people that really need them like I do make it so hard for people to get them now I can’t even get them and I really been getting them basically for like 30 years or

Re: Richard (# 122)
I've lost $1000 in the last two weeks, feeling anxiety & quite upset about that, yet have lots of medicine. Chest tightening and breathing problems should be taken seriously, especially during these COVID times
. Having anxiety and panic attacks feels like I can't breathe in my chest is tightening up bad. I had a situation where I was defrauded by the terrible towel corporation for over $100,000 it's been 2 years my stress level is through the roof I'm looking for help thank you
Re: Lee lee (# 111)

Ive been on Xanax for years and my doc retired need to find one asap
How much did the doctor charge you?
Re: Heaven (# 27)
Hi Heaven I came across the post of yours I don't even know if you remember it it was in 2016 it was about something terrible that it happened to you and you got cut off your medication because somebody called her doctor and said something nasty things. I'm thinking they were definitely not true and I'm truly sorry for that that is terrible. That's why I never tell anybody my doctor's information.
But I'm reaching out to you hoping that you can help me. I am going to try but I'm not going to lie to you this is probably going to be a long message. I'm going to try to make it as short as possible. It is going to be hard. When I was 11 all of this started and I believe it was because of a traumatic incident with my brother's dad. I told my mother but she didn't believe me. My sister at the time had just had a newborn baby and she said that I was doing this to crave attention because the baby was getting all the attention. Like who would make up something traumatic for attention? I've never gotten over the fact that my mother never believed me. To this day my mother doesn't believe me, but surprisingly my father does. But statute of limitations there's nothing we can do now. But it was basically over a 2 year period and I started to get really bad anxiety attacks. I could handle those but as the abuse continued throughout this two years so did my mental health decline.
I used to be a very extroverted girl. I was very happy talkative very social in school I would talk to anybody I would walk up to anybody and talk to them I had no fear I didn't care what anybody thought of me and I loved that about myself. Thankfully at least my mother saw that my grades were declining that there was a drastic change in my personality I went from being so outgoing and positive to being an introvert. I didn't want to go out anywhere. I had severe social anxiety disorder. I didn't know what it was at the time but that's what I was diagnosed with I ended up not going to school ever. If my mother made me I would just skip school I ended up finally being homeschooled just because it was that bad that I couldn't go to school. I would have severe panic attacks when I would go into the school I would feel like everybody was staring at me and laughing at me and talking about me behind my back. If there was a group of girls that were just laughing probably at whatever they were talking about I just assumed they were laughing at me. I went from having a pretty good self-esteem to it being completely destroyed. I looked in the mirror and hated the way I looked. I hated the way I felt. And I remember just telling my mom all that and so she took me to see a child / adolescent psychiatrist and they work together with a psychologist as well so I would talk with the psychologist and a psychiatrist would write the medication. Obviously I've been dealing with this like I said since I was 11 so I have been on everything the ssris that are the depression medications, that they say are for anxiety, and they work and maybe if I just had anxiety they would work. But my actual diagnosis is severe panic disorder with severe social anxiety disorder PTSD and anxiety. If I just had anxiety I could deal with it no problem. Because of what I've been through I could deal with a simple anxiety attack the worst is the social anxiety and then the panic attacks I get from the social anxiety and then the PTSD comes in from according to the adolescent psychiatrist the trauma. I had nightmares. I couldn't sleep at night and especially when he was in our home I never slept at night. I would sleep during the day hence another reason why I wouldn't go to school. I didn't sleep. I was terrified every night that he would come into my room. So after 2 years he finally moved back to Arkansas and I thought everything would just magically go back to normal. That wasn't the case. I still couldn't sleep and I still had the horrible social anxiety disorder like I said I went from being the girl that would talk to anybody to not even talking to my best friend so I went from having friends to none very quickly and then none of those medications worked.
There were so many, I can name some of them: Buspar - I'll never forget, was the first thing they gave me for anxiety and panic disorder and it did nothing. I swear it's like a sugar pill because they tried to give it to me again later on when I was in the 18 or 19 I tried Celexa, Prozac, , Paxil, Wellbutrin, Lexapro, and there's others that's just on the top of my head. None of them worked. So at 19 I decided to go to a different psychiatrist the one that I've seen up until he retired and left me in the position of it now because the psychiatrist and psychologist I was seeing with more for child and adolescents so they recommended that you know their treatment went as long and as far as they could go. So I went with one of their referrals. The only thing was I had no insurance at the time and I believe he was self-pay. Anyway, he immediately was amazing I mean he listened and he put me on either Valium or Ativan. I can't remember, but I remember him saying it was the lowest benzodiazepine and let's start with that and see how I do with it. Actually yes, I'm almost positive now it was valium. Because it didn't last long because it didn't work very well. It worked very good for the first two or three months and then like within the flick of a finger it just stopped working and I remember calling him in tears in the parking lot of the grocery store saying that I can't go in it's not working anymore, and he said just go home and he'd fit me in the very next day. And that's when he put me on ativan and that worked for a couple years but then something really bad happened on top of everything else with my sister's husband. After that I couldn't sleep. I had nightmares every night so he then diagnosed me on top of what I had with PTSD as well I believed then that I did have PTSD the first time when the other one diagnosed me I didn't think I had it but now I do think I did so he gave me a medication adjustment right away.
He said "I think we should put you on something a little bit more longer active based on the fact that you have ongoing social anxiety disorder". Ongoing panic attacks, ongoing anxiety, ongoing PTSD - the key word is being "ongoing". It's not just sudden like Xanax works more for sudden attacks where Klonopin works for ongoing. So he put me on Klonopin initially 1 mg three times a day, and I want to say for maybe a year it works great I was so happy. I took it as prescribed and it worked I was able to finally work again I was able to go to get my hair done go to a salon go to the grocery store the things that normal people can do, and then again with the flick of a finger the social anxiety came back again and the sleeping was always a problem. I was always having nightmares. I've never sleep through the night.
I still suffer with the PTSD from everything to this day, so at that point psychiatrist knew I wasn't sleeping and knew about the horrible nightmares so he prescribed me Ambien as well for night time. believe it was 10 mg once a night. It worked great, so at the time up to my medication to 2 mg Klonopins twice a day and an Ambien 10 mg at night time and that worked great for years. I mean I finally have found the medication that worked for me and the dosage that worked for me I didn't have to keep increasing my dosage, it was perfect. I was on it like that for years the only medication adjustment he made was he didn't want me to continue to stay on Ambien and Klonopin and he thought would I be willing to take a Klonopin at least try it for bedtime instead of the Ambien so he would do three 2 mg Klonopins a day but one was for bedtime, and I said sure I'll try it ,and it worked. So that's the medication I was on for I want to say five or six years, probably five and a half actually, and now he's retired and has really screwed me.
He gave me referrals obviously but he must not have checked them at all before he gave them to me because none are taking new patients. So I'm so sorry I basically told you all of this stuff and you don't even know me I'm telling you this because I'm hoping that you realize how important it is for me to have my medication. He gave me a refill I refilled it about 10 days ago after that I have nothing and I'm terrified because after this script is gone I won't have any I'll have to go cold turkey, and on top of that I'm epileptic and if you go cold turkey off of Klonopin, it can cause grand mal seizures which are the ones I already get, so I'm really scared. So I'm hoping that if you know any doctor that is a self-pay doctor that will write me a prescription for Klonopin? I live in Homestead PA close to Pittsburgh PA I would really appreciate any recommendation that you have and I really hope you have one thank you so much for taking the time out to read this and thank you so much if you're willing to help me further.
Re: believer in in non psycotrooic (# 26)
Hi I am so sorry to bother you but I came across a message that you sent on a message board a few years ago it was in 2016 and I was hoping that maybe you could help me because I'm now getting desperate I'm going to try not to write a book to you and make it as short as possible.
I have seen the same psychiatrist anywhere between 10 and 15 years and I always self paid and then I ran the medicine through the insurance. He was excellent and he retired so he gave me a refill and he gave me four referrals. I guess he didn't check the referrals before he gave them to me because one of the referrals that business is no longer open, the other referral isn't taking any new patients for at least 6 to 8 months, and the other two aren't taking any new patients for 11 - 12 months.
I only had one refill I just got it filled about 10 days ago. I've tried 2 or 3 different online doctors that on their ads acted like they would be very helpful well one of them after I spent $35 told me that they don't write benzodiazepines and they could give me buspar and suggested celexa. I have tried both of those (idk if you have ever tried buspar) but I swear it's like a sugar medication. It has never done anything for me.
The other place that I tried I asked them before I even paid the fee do they prescribe controlled substances such as Klonopin because that's what I've been on and that's what I know works because I've been dealing with this for 11 years and they said well we'll get into all of that once we get the payment process and you talk to the doctor. So I paid $150 all for this doctor to tell me that yes they do prescribe benzodiazepines but only in certain States and unfortunately Pennsylvania is not one of them at this time, and he recommended Wellbutrin and I don't know, I think Prozac. And again, I've been on both of those and I told him you know I'm not drug seeking I've been dealing with this since I was 11 years old I just know what works I've been on all this stuff so I basically wasted $185 between the two places because they wouldn't tell me anything until I paid the fee when they acted like they were going to help me.
I related to your post. I've been diagnosed with severe social anxiety disorder severe PTSD anxiety and severe panic attacks ever since I was 11 years old and had a traumatic experience with my uncle but my mother did not believe me. I had nobody to turn to and that's when the anxiety attacks started because the uncle lived with us it went on for over 2 years till he finally moved back to Arkansas and thankfully at least my mother took me to a psychiatrist as a child, and I was able to tell her what happened one-on-one sessions. But nothing came of it as far as like reporting it to the police or anything. I don't know why but maybe lack of evidence. I don't know. regardless though that's when all of this started.
I always felt like I was an outgoing person and I fit in, I was very popular and I would talk to anybody and walk up to anybody and start a conversation. And after that I became very introverted I went from talking to a bunch of girls at school and had a whole group of girls I hung out with to keeping to myself literally overnight, just stopped talking to them. They tried to reach out and I just ignored them. I ate lunch alone in the bathroom and as I got older the social anxiety just got worse.
If I don't have my medication and then the walls start closing in and I'm extremely claustrophobic and I start to sweat and my heart starts beating fast or and faster and faster and then I get shortness of breath and then that's when I get the chest pains and then my heart starts to skip a beat I don't know if those are called heart palpitations or if it's just skipping a beat here and there sometimes it skips three or four beats in a row and that's when I get terrified and I leave whatever store I'm in. And if I'm not on medication I go to the hospital because you cannot tell me when I'm in that state that I'm not having a heart attack or a cardiac arrest or that something is wrong and then I feel like an idiot because I go there they do a EKG they say it's normal they give me in the hospital always 2 Ativans and I feel better. So I know it's all linked to this and I'm terrified because in this day and age with all of these drug abusers I guess it's a lot harder now than it ever was to get Klonopin and Ambien.
I've been dealing with this since I was 11. I've tried all the ssris the depression medications that help with anxiety and I believe that they probably do but I don't have just anxiety. If I had just anxiety I can manage anxiety myself without any medication it's the social anxiety disorder is the severe panic disorder in the PTSD I have horrible nightmares and all the horrible regrets I have because there's a lot more I didn't tell you. I carry a lot of guilt and that's where the PTSD comes in and I have nightmares every night about it.
I'm so sorry I didn't mean to write you a book I said I wouldn't for all I know you won't even be able to help me. I was just wondering really if you know of any psychiatrists that are self-pay and are pretty reasonable like don't charge $300 an hour or something like that because I thought I had found somebody and he was like a Harvard graduate and I guess he's using that to base his rates and he said that just a consultation with him will be $350 and it's a series of consultations like he will do them over zoom, and they're like three or four and then he decides if he will take me on as a patient. So there's not even a guarantee after I put that much money up he would be my doctor so I'm just wondering if by any chance you know any doctor in the Pittsburgh area (I live specifically in Homestead) that will write for Klonopin?
I was on 2 mg a day twice a day and then Ambien I believe 10 mg once a night but at the end I'd say about a year before he retired he said "Would you be willing to try if I upped you to three 2 mg Klonopins a day and cut out the Ambien? So you take a Klonopin for bedtime would you be willing to try that and see if that would help?" And I said yes and it did so I'm willing to go without the Ambien. I just need the Klonopin and again I reached out to you because of how long you had been on I believe you said Xanax and you knew it works for you. I've been dealing with this since I was 11 I've tried all the non-narcotics. I tried the ssris I tried the antidepressants that are supposed to help with anxiety and like I said if I had anxiety and that was it maybe they would help but I have a lot more than that and it really sucks that there's a few bad apples that abuse medication that make it so hard for people it really need it to get it.
Anyways I'm so sorry for writing such a long message. If there's any way you can get back to me via email I would really appreciate it if you have any recommendations if you know any doctors that will write me Klonopin or at least work with me and write me some kind of benzodiazepine? I would be willing to try something else if I have to even though I know Klonopin works for me if there's anything you can do to help me please please I'm begging you because I'm running out of time very quickly. Thank you again so much for taking the time to read this I know it was very long and I really hope to hear from you I really hope to hear something positive...
Re: shelly (# 25)
Hi I am hoping you can help me. I came across an old post of yours I think from like 2016 where you're looking for a doctor and you didn't mind paying out of pocket for your Klonopin and something else I think for sleeping.
I have been diagnosed with severe social anxiety disorder severe panic disorder PTSD and anxiety and this has been going on since I was 11 years old when something very traumatic happened to me. My psychiatrist that I have been seeing for the past 10 to 12 years has retired he gave me one refill before he retired and he gave me 4 referrals. Well apparently these were offices that he didn't check before he gave them to me because one of them the office wasn't even open anymore it was something completely different, the other isn't taking any new customers and doesn't know when they're going to be taking, the other isn't taking any new customers for 8 to 12 months, and the last one isn't taking any new customers for at least 6 months.
I just filled my last refill about 5 days ago without my medication I have such bad social anxiety I can't go to work I can't even go into a grocery store. If anybody is out there that has social anxiety disorder you know what I'm talking about. If I attempt to go into for example a grocery store without my medication which is Klonopin what will happen is it will literally take me probably 10 minutes just to get out of the car and if I even make it into the store because if I see people a lot of people outside of the store I feel like they're all looking at me laughing at me staring at me. I make it into the store I go straight to the wipes to wipe the cart and usually I don't even make it past wiping the cart before I have to leave because I have a horrible panic attack because there's people in the lobby looking and I feel like they're all staring at me and then I feel like the walls are closing in and I get very claustrophobic very short of breath. I start to sweat really bad I get very bad chest pains and my heart starts to skip beats and I leave. I can't live my everyday life like this this has been a problem for years and then I finally found a doctor that understood me and I was good for 12 years and now he's gone, and what's even worse is not one of the referrals can take me.
Do you know of any doctors that don't take insurance that will prescribe me Klonopin at least? I was also on Ambien, but I'm okay as long as I have the Klonopin, that's the main thing because it helps with the social anxiety disorder. I just happen to come across your post from a couple years ago and wondered if you had any luck and knew of any doctors in the Pittsburgh area that would be willing to help me. I live in Homestead PA.
I have a pain doctor since I was in a car accident last year but they won't raise my Neurontin because they think being on methadone would be too dangerous to raise it from 600 MLG to 800 MLG.??
I took a soma and it helped with my lower back pain. I took it a few weeks ago and I felt absolutely no pain. And I also need a psychiatrist to prescribe me Klonopin for my severe anxiety. So if anyone knows a good pain doctor to prescribe me the Soma and a psychiatrist for the Klonopin so that I can get back to a normal life. I live in Pittsburgh PA in a borough called Millvale... ty
Re: apes (# 5)
can i ask u were i was on zanax and got weined off pregnant and 3 yrs later i need back on my meds im tired of doctors treatin me like a drug addict i just know what worked
Re: Lisa (# 101)
I’ve been on zanex for most of my life since 1998. I lost my son. He was only 18 days old. Since then I have been diagnosed with severe reoccurring depression and PTSD, anxiety, and I can go from 0 to 100 in a matter of moments. I don’t know why. I don’t sleep well and cry a whole lot. I just found a new dr that would at least prescribe me with Klonapin. Which help a lot. And now after approximately 6 months. She went on a leave of absence. And I found out today she will not be be back. And wouldn’t you know it. She will not prescribe my meds. I need.
Re: Riley (# 92)
Not unless you are an attractive female or you jump through a million hoops without pushing for them. You could try googling doctors who prescribe xanax in Pittsburgh. It will give you a list of doctors and nurse practitioners who prescribe both pain and anxiety meds the most. Still, some of them pretend to chase away drug seekers yet only take cash and will make you see them a few times prior to getting them. My gf has been trying to get xanax for months and her anxiety is horrible. She was told about a place that supposedly prescribes alot. Seems like another favorite picker to me. Hes given her every antidepressant he can give her. It's actually making her dependent on drugs she doesnt need and causing OCD behavior and depression that she has never had an issue with. But he keeps the money coming into his office at pathways in ambridge. I wonder what the other girls do for their prescriptions. Hes prescribing bars to a girl who has a drug history and sees another doctor for suboxone. Typical a$$hole.
Is there anyone that knows where I can find a psychiatrist in Pittsburgh that will prescribe me xanax and takes Gateway Health?
