I had surgery yesterday and have been unable to sleep. Can I take dilaudid and Tylenol PM together? ## It is generally not advised, since they both can cause sedation, it could be too much for some people. The FDA warns that Dilaudid carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. It also usually causes drowsiness, as a side effect. Is there anything else I can help with?

If I take 4mg of Dilaudid in pill form every 4 hours will it alleviate my pain in the 4th week after my foot surgery? ## Hello, Lauren! How are you? Unfortunately, the only way to know is by trying it. Not every medication works for everyone. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Have you started taking it, yet?

No major drug stores carry it so I ordered it from a "mom and pop" store. Anyone have any idea how long it takes for the store to get it in ? ## How long does it take for a pharmacy to order dilaudid ## That can vary from pharmacy to pharmacy, so there's no answer I can give you, I'm sorry. Didn't they give you an approximate time frame? Some pharmacies have medications delivered weekly, but others may only receive shipments biweekly or monthly. The FDA classifies this medication as a This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## They said it should be filled tomorrow. Thanks for your response ## Your pharmacy should order it that day and it s...

My regular pain meds where not working for my chronic back pain so I went the hospital they gave me a small shot of Dilaudid. November 3rd I went to my pain management told them they had me do a UA, signed paper for them to get copy from hospital. Had another appointment on 12-1 they said nothing then on 12-29 they told me they couldn't see me anymore cause my UA from November showed positive for Dilaudid. I told Them there was no way that could be possible, none the less they didn't believe me, now I have no pain doc, now what? ## Due to people getting "hooked" on this type of medication, the doctors do not like to give it out. Yes, it does come in pill form - 8mg or 3 mg. If you have all your paperwork from the time you had your shot at the hospital etc. and can show i...

Tell everyone who is using anything that they cannot prove came from a pharmacy. A dear friend of mine got very sick and almost died when he received an 8mg dilaudid looking tablet. It was fake. If you compare it to the real thing there are very subtle differences. The white tablet w/ LCI 1355 has slightly different letters and number 1 than the real one.The letters should look just like they do here. Not Roman style or more fancy lettering. Be careful people. Try to stop taking pain killers if you can.To many scammers are out there. It is your life people. ## Well said Bibi! In my opinion, if the medication isn't from a licensed pharmacy then the only way to safely verify it's contents is through a lab analysis. And even then, this may not pick up on the presence of certain ina...

My son's mother has been addicted to almost every drug i know at some point. First it was cocaine, then vicadins, then somas and norcals, then she started taking dilaudids, a few days ago i caught her cooking them on a spoon and injecting them. She has fused disk in her spine so the doctor prescribes her 90 somas and 90 norcals per month. These drugs make her very drowsy due to her taking to many. So sells these and buys her dilaudid off the streets. I have tryed everything short of rehab to try and get her to stop using, she says her fused disk is a legitmate reason to take this drug, but she take more then the prescribed amount. I believe she just wants to get high. Now she is shooting the drug like a shot, I feel helpless and do not know what to do. A couple of days ago I did not ...

I've been on 6 mg a day of Hydromprphone for about three months. I'm about to stop and was wondering what I can expect in the way of WD symptons. ## Hello, Mike! How are you? The U.S. FDA lists the typical withdrawal effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, anxiety, depression, and rebound pain. A slow taper would actually be better, because it usually helps prevent them from being too severe. Have you considered trying a taper?

I accidentally took 2mg hydromorphone that I had for migraines instead of my anxiety meds but it was 3 hours after I had one drink with dinner. I'm scared to sleep now? Help ## Hello, Channi! How are you? Did you experience any adverse effects? In the future, when in doubt, do not ever be afraid to call your doctor, poison control, or your nearest emergency services department to be sure. As to taking this, after drinking, the main reason you are warned not to combine them, as per the U.S. NIH, is due to the fact that it may worsen the side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, and drowsiness, which may cause each drink to feel as if you had 2, and so on.

Hi I'm opioid dependent. My boyfriend and I take at least 20 to 24 mg of dilaudids within a 24 hour period. If we miss, we get sick. We're starting methadone tomorrow and plan on quitting this dangerous addiction. Because me (not my boyfriend), I get very anxious when i feel an abnormal symptom (usually it's nothing). So my question is: I usually take an 8 mg dilaudid with my boyfriend. I am wondering if we're actually taking 4 mg each. Seems logical. And I changed my dose because I wanna get off of it on my own without having to take methadone so I started going down by sharing two 4's mg with my boyfriend. Not much of a difference but I started to wonder if we were actually reducing. Then I switched to 2 mg. first I started taking 6mg (three 2 mg) and reduced to tw...

I've had two back surgerys and I have a spinal cord stimulator in iam on 60mgs of morphine and 8 mgs of dilaudid and I still have break through pain plus iam on 150mgs of Lyrica iam just wondering what I can change to cover the pain. ## Hello, Sheri! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. You could possibly raise either the Morphine or the Lyrica to higher dosages to get better pain control. The Morphine carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. What other medications have you tried? How often do you take the Dilaudid? ## I'm on Dilaudid it makes all my bones hurt really bad.

I'm prescribed 4 norco 325 for chronic back pain daily. Also morphine sulfate 45mg 3 times a day.......I left the morphine on a plane and I won't be able to get back to my dr for another 3 weeks ...I've been substituting the morphine with 6 4mg dilaudids daily.... How long will the dilaudid stay in my system? I'm randomly tested from time to time.

My niece has been diagnosed as what they think is MS and this is what they prescribed her. When she messages me she sometimes makes no sense. Is that normal? She says she only takes 2 a day but also takes oxy ## Hello, Debbies! How is your niece doing? Dilaudid is another narcotic analgesic that is used to treat moderate to severe pain and yes, it may cause her to feel dizzy, drowsy and disoriented, as listed among the typical side effects by the FDA. Things should improve, once her body gets used to the medication, but that may take a month, or so. Is there anything else I can help with?

Does anyone have any tips on easiest transition from taking about 10 x 8mg Dilaudid per day intravenously to taking 1-2 x 30mg blue tablets orally? This is mainly so I can be seen by a doctor because I'll never go there with marks and bruises from using a needle! Also because it is awful of course... I need to go through MRIs and pain management. I doubt they would prescribe me opiates if I go there as a drug abuser. Anyways just want some tips on an easy transition it's a huge difference and hard to change once you get there so I'm going to try. Thanks.

Took a drug test today; a 12 panel. I took a 2mg dilaudid last night. What will it show up as, if anything? I really need help on answering this. Thanks in advance. ## Dilaudid is Hydromorphone, a very strong narcotic and opiate pain reliever. It will show up as Opiates. Almost ALL pain killing narcotics show up as Opiates; the only exceptions are drugs used for opiate addiction (and can also be prescribed for pain) like Methadone, Suboxin, and Tramadol or Tramacet (Ultram). All of the treatment drugs are opiate agonists and antagonists, meaning they are synthetic and trick your bodies' receptors into thinking it is an opiate, thereby giving you the same feeling. Methadone prevents other opiates from inducing the euphoric high and can make you sick if you try to mix it, so it's ...

Why won't the Rx. Do what the Dr. Says. He fills we need that medication , what gives the Rx. To power to so no, we are not filling that prescription ## What reason did the pharmacist give for not filling it? It could be that they don't carry the medication, they are worried about how much was prescribed, the doctor may be flagged in their system, the patient it was written for might be flagged in their system…. it's hard to say, but it is up to the discretion of the pharmacist. The patient's option, of course, is to go try a different pharmacy. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

I have an appointment with my pain clinic Friday at 4pm. I've been seeing pain drs for many yrs due to several severely painful immune related diseases & rarely get uaed, but this will be the 1st time I'll see this particular dr so am not sure if I will this time. I am currently on 3 15mg mscontin extended release tabs/day. IF I took 1 4mg dilaudid at approximately 1pm on Wednesday, will it be likely to show up in a urine screen on Friday?! Thanks for any help! :-) ## I forgot to mention that the mscontin is what I'm actually prescribed right now. I am also wondering if the mscontin & dilaudid may just show up the same in a ua? ## How long does a 2mg dilaudid stay in your system? if I took one tonight would it show up in test weds afternoon? ## U can flush by drinkin...

Will a 75 mcg/hr fentanyl patch help with dilaudid withdrawal? ## Tramadol 50 mg x 2 tablets is the only thing that works for me when I can't find a pharmacy to fill my Dilaudid. I have heard it helps with Oxy and other pain reliever withdrawals. The stupid Commonwealth of Kentucky has outlawed Tramadol and Lyrica is highly regulated because it helps with withdrawals. Yes, they are living in the stone age. So, Tramadol must work for others as well. Your doctor should prescribe it, it is available at any pharmacy, doesn't help that much with the pain, but you won't get sick. ## Fentanyl is much stronger, so that would actually be the wrong direction to go. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, diz...

WHAT IS NORMAL DOSAGE A MONTH TO GET OFF DILAUDID IF TAKING 12MG EVERY THREE HOURS FOR LAST SIX MONTHS IF I DONT TAKE FOR 5 HOURS I AM IN PAIN AND SICK VERY SCARY ## Dilaudid contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone, it is a narcotic pain reliever and may cause side effects such as: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. As to a time period, there is really no set rule for this, it can vary from person to person. Some doctors do not wean a person off, some do. What has your doctor suggested? Whenever someone stops taking narcotics, it should be done in a very slow taper, to prevent the worst of the withdrawal effects and rebound pain symptoms. ## is it usual to stop dilaudid 5 times a day after several years and start endocet every 6 hours with zonegran at night. I am on 2mg of dilaudid 4 times a day. that doesn't help anymore so i went to taking 2 of the 2mg at a time and that didn't help so i went to 3 of the 2mg and still no help. i don't really want to go up anymore especially without an ok from the doc. is there anything else out there that would help? ## You really were taking a big risk going up that much, without your doctor's approval and supervision, since this such a potent narcotic. Learn more Dilaudid information here. As to other options, there are some others on the market. You can learn more narcotic information here. Have you contacted your doctor about it, yet? ## I disagree that you took such a huge dose, I do agree that you should speak to your doctor first about it not helping.
