Difference Between Adderall And Amphetamine Salts (Page 34) (Top voted first)

I was recently diagnosed with Adult ADD and have been prescribed Amphetamine Salts (Generic for Adderall) for a few months now. The initial dosage was one 10mg tablet/ three times a day and recently my Doctor upped the dosage to one 30mg tablet/ twice a day. I know that overall this has been very beneficial for me but I cant help but wonder if the generic brand (IR Amphetamine Salts) has less of the active ingredient, and more unnecessary side effects(irritability, fatigue). I know that while the active ingredients are likely to be the same, the "fillers" usually are not and even the active ingredients can vary up to 10%. I also know that everybody reacts differently depending on their bodies' make-up as well as the drugs and I have always reacted sensitively to any kind of drug. The more I "google" the more I want to stay away from the generic form. Also- almost every pharmacy around has little to no Adderall Brand IR tablets in stock, they only have the generic brands and possibly Adderall brand but only the Extended-Release. My Doctor seems to firmly believe that there is no difference between Adderall XR and Adderall IR, and because she prescribed me the generic form (Amphetamine Salts), she probably doesn't see a difference there either. I don't have the time to ask 10 doctors what they think so if anyone has any information or experiences please share! Thank you!

100 percent accurate Corepharma or bust! having played around with every generic i can state with certainty that the cor 136 pills rock any other adderall 30mg including the teva generic and brand (dp/30). just ask on the phone like your a pharmacy tech looking for info for a patient cuz your out of the generic they need....that way you dont get in trouble or looked at like a drug seeker just be cool and youll be able to learn anything you need over the tele!

Dextroamphetamine (Dexerdrine) is not the same drug as amphetamine salts (Adderall). If your pharmacist did not get the ok from your doctor before substituting, the pharmacist broke the law. But, nothing will come of it.

Be sure and take your bottle with you when you see your doctor next time. Be sure your doctor is aware of the substitution. Are you positive your doctor did not write you a prescription for Dextroamphetamine?

Hi I am very knowledgeable in this field. Iam diagnosed with ADAD and I'm a 44yr old female I mostly definitely don't look my age I look really young, I'm a pediatric nurse and I'm amazing at my job. I do believe there is a big difference between generic and the real deal, but I have also noticed that it just depends on the shipment meaning of course we know the real deal will be Better but I have tried some generic forms that are just horrible and I have also tried some generic forms that are amazing, so to me it's pretty much each mth a 50/50 change that you will hopefully get something good, with that being said I know it sucks it really does suck for us that really have adhd or add and really reply on your medicine to work to it's full potential but to get stuck with something that makes the adhd symptoms worse. Today I received a new generic form from camber pharmaceuticals and I will say this is pretty good one of the best generic versions out there

You made a biblical reference/quote in your response... Obviously, You use God more than you know. I suppose you use the big bang theory and monkey evolution as your comfort. This begs the questions; who/what made the big bang and/or matter to produce it? If human beings evolved from nothing-micro-organism (Life)- water dweller- monkey- human then why are there still monkeys? Water dwellers? Micro-organisms? Nothing?
You can google God if you have no one to ask or talk with about Him. Then you can google Jesus. But really all you have to do is pray and you can talk to Him yourself. He answers back in subtle ways, but you will know (even if you don't know Him) that it was Him. He still answers back in powerful ways. Some call them miracles (ie: the big bang, creation)

wake up my soon to ex husband is on amphetamine salts, changes his whole personality and I threw his sorry ass to the curb, he says he prefers meth which is illegal, who the hell would live with that? he was on porn sites all night, and is just a mess, I would say don't take this crap and it was prescribed by a shrink, he was also putting drugs in my drinks, after 28 years of marriage it's OVER. too bad drugs had to be the source.

Generic and named brand drugs are exactly the same in dosages, strength and safety required by law, the only difference being there may be a patent pending on a particular drug because the patent hasn't expired you can't get a generic

I have been taking Adderall for years to help with depression/anxiety. My dose has not been increased since it was leveled out a few years ago. All drugs are dangerous. That is why you take them only as prescribed by your doctor.

Every IR medicine should only be used as needed. ER Xanax when you feel a panic attack coming on or your overwhelmed with a task and you feel like your gonna be in a panic. Adderall when you have a task or tasks to complete and are having trouble concentrating and/or completing those tasks.

Are you in the field of medicine or have you studied the brain? There is a MAJOR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AMPHETAMINE AND METHAMPHETAMINE. Look it up bc they do not effect the brain the same at all, other than they are both stimulants. We all know which one is worse. . I am speaking with complete honesty when I say I haven't touched a street drug, never will. However, in Texas it is required that a child or adult be seen by a neuropsychologist who performs an automated Battery test for cognitive assessment -ranging in all areas before ever prescribing Adderall if they do need it.. Its FDA approved where speed is not. For you to say and judge people bc they may have a chemical imbalance and need medication is ridiculous especially coming from a Christian. You are a hypocrite with zero knowledge about how each person was made. For you to make the assumption that God made us, and gave you the right to judge people for their personal life is a disorder you may have. Disorders are everywhere, starting from birth, my friend. And let me ask you a question.... Does Adam and Eve have navels? If so, can prove that there is a god and that everyone was born mentally stable and without any type of defects? Hope to hear back!

I agree with your statement. Coke is just harder to get in certain cities that have turned to selling H and Oxys. Adderal is just OCD on steroids, just like the energy you get from coke, then you crash on both drugs, then depression, then you're pawning your s*** to buy coke from Detroit that's been 'stepped on' 1 or 2 times.....plus you have to be armed to deal with the fiends, stick-up boys, fake dealers, and trap houses.....been thru it all, including getting home from Southwest Detroit after being robbed, kicked out of my old friends car, almost cut into little pieces when I grabbed the keys to try to keep the punk jacka** from leaving me stranded. At least he dropped me off at the bus station after he knew that he was indeed robbing his so-called friend for 1,000s of dollars..........now, I'm 70+ days clean off Yayo......f*** Pharmecudicals

I am a cardiac nurse. Amphetamine salts are speed. When you take any form of speed (amphetamine) you are going to feel anxious, jittery at times, your sleep may well suffer, you may experience temperament changes and lose your temper. You can experience irreversible cardiac events including heart attack and stroke because amphetamine is a very powerful vaso-constrictor - this means it will narrow and spasm your coronary arteries and other blood vessels can spasm shut completely so you have decreased blood flow, then clots can form which stop blood flow completely to your heart or brain. Liver failure and liver toxicity is strongly connected to these drugs and if your liver fails you are cooked. Be aware amphetamine is highly addictive and YES your physician KNOWS THIS. So why would a physician prescribe something this dangerous and addictive requiring monitoring and office visits? Gee if you could just figure it out?? Let me give you a hint - if you are scootin along in your life and NOT ON ANY DRUGS are you in the Dr's office? Is anyone making any money? The amphetamine class of drugs are so dangerous the FDA is considering black box warnings. NEVER take yourself off amphetamines suddenly because the side effects of depression are at rebound levels and can be fatal if you become suicidal. You absolutely can get off all the ADD type drugs, but you have to do it slowly. You see almost any drug you ever take will have serious rebound reactions when you get off them. Even stomach acid stopping drugs will have a rebound of severe stomach acid production if you get off them suddenly. With speed you can crash into deep depression up to and including suicide when you take yourself off of them so you have to go very slowly under the eye of a medical professional WHO CARES ABOUT YOU. So let's review: you have to be extremely cautious about your symptoms while taking amphetamine - and while getting off amphetamine, you have to taper very slowly off it under the watchful eye of a physician because you can rebound into deep depression. Let me promise you this - most drugs are dangerous, it doesn't matter who is giving them to you. Don't alter your mind. You need it to get through this life.

Wow generic drugs are no different, it's all in your mind. When u think it's not working well u blame generic name. Stop taking it to feel high or study and you will realize they work fine. People have to understand that the name brand is like the generic, it's the same.

Hello, i really do believe that the generic is just as good if not better, it's all about the money especially in the pharmaceuticals your fine take your medicine and be glad your doctor saving you money while given you the best medicine. Don't forget to thank the doc on the next visit.
