My mother takes 1 tablet Norsulin 500mg Metformin with 2.5 mg of Glipzide daily 15 minutes before breakfast and half-tablet before lunch. This was prescribed by her doctor. She says that after taking the tablet she feels not only dizzy and drowsy but also very weak. Are these normal and usual side-effects of the drug? Or does this mean her sugar level plummets everytime she takes the talet? Thanks. ## The dizziness and drowsiness can be normal side effects, but the weakness may mean that her blood sugar is dropping too low. What are her sugar readings at these times? I called the pharmacy that I always order from and they they told me they had no recalls on these 500 mg Metformion tabs by TEVA and there was nothing they could do. ## Joyce,i cant believe if the vitamins smelled bad,the pharmacist wouldnt refund your money back to u. ## Metformin is not a vitamin, it is an oral antidiabetic medication. Actually, it is completely normal for this medication to have a very bad odor. Many companies just manage to keep you from smelling it by putting a coating on the tablets, so the smell never reaches your nostrils. In this case, these pills may not have the coating or it may not be as thick as normal. Are there any other questions or comments?
