I take amryl 2mg before breakfast and glycomet SR 500 after breakfast and before dinner also. Is it right way of taking? ## Amaryl contains the active ingredient Glimepiride and Glycomet contains the active ingredient Metformin, both are oral antidiabetic medications used to help control blood sugar. And yes, they are usually taken at mealtime, unless your doctor has instructed you otherwise, since that is when most blood sugar spikes occur. Is using them this way keeping your sugar under control? ## I am 68 male. So far I was taking Glimet DS 500 after meal. My fasting sugar was 114. PP was 145. My friend suggested Glycomet 500 instead of Glimet DS 500. After 10 days my fasting sugar has gone up to 150 and PP is 197. Why this and how to solve?

From what I've read it's a good product for infertility. Metformin is an oral antidiabetic drug in the biguanide class. It is the first-line drug of choice for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, in particular, in overweight and obese people and those with normal kidney function. However, I've read that it is sometimes prescribed to help women with infertility issues. Siphene is used to treat infertility in women who are not o...

have deveoped dime size leisons on my legs and back that crust over and disappear; then reappear. never thad this before taking Metanx. ## Metanx is actually just a nutritional supplement that's specially formulated into a proprietary blend to help with nerve pain and damage. It's mainly used by diabetics that suffer neuropathy, or to help prevent it from occurring. You can learn more Metanx details here. Have you consulted your doctor? It sounds like you may have something else going on. It could be something related to circulation or perhaps there is too much of a certain nutrient for you in the Metanx, but only your doctor is going to be able to get to the root of the problem. Do they hurt? Do they burn or bleed? Are there any other symptoms?

Are there any side effects? I have foot neuropathy, but not diabetes, and have developed a rash on my legs. ## Hello Village65, My research tells me that rashes are indeed, one of the side effects of Alpha Lipoic acid. In regards to Benfotiamine- I couldn't find any information stating rashes as a side effect. With that being said, you could possibly be having a reaction to just the Alpha Lipoic acid. Have you spoken with your doctor about this yet? Please post back if you have any more questions!

Hello! I am a diabetic. I was originally diagnosed as T1, but we have now discovered I am a T2 (long story). My endo wanted me to check blood sugar 8X day just to make sure my conversion from Insulin to Metformin was working out OK. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago. I went into my pharmacy to get test strips refilled. The pharmacy tech asked if I was still testing 8x day. I said no, I averaged 3 to 4x per day since my blood sugar seemed for the most part to stay within range. She said based on that info they needed to change my prescription for test strips. I assumed I would go down to 4x day, which would be fine. I went back in last Friday-nothing had been done. I went back in yesterday. The same pharmacy tech said THE DOCTOR had changed the prescription to 1x day. I knew somethin...

metformin ## There are a couple options to find what you are looking for. First there is a med called Januvia - this contains the active chemical Sitagliptin Phosphate and treats Type 2 Diabetes. As far as Metformin goes there are a number of other brand names, one of which is Janumet (containing the combination of Metformin Hydrochloride + Sitagliptin Phosphate) Hope this helps! ## best time to take drug ## In regards to the best time to take either one of these medications, it should be done just before a meal, such as right when you sit down to eat. Generally, they take about 15 to 20 minutes to start working, so if you take them that way, they have time to enter your blood stream and start helping control your blood sugar about the time you start digesting your meal. However, if you...

I am 68 and a controlled Diabetic by diet and exercise. No meds. My Dr. has advised that I should take the Zostavax injection to prevent any complications from Shingles, should I ever get them. I am interested to know if anyone has experienced side effects and if so, what have they been. Also, have any side effects been long term. Thank you ## @Dee Dee, If you've been using diet and exercise for treatment, I'd encourage you to stick with that. Reason being is, Zostavax or any other prescription medication for that matter is solely designed to treat the symptoms of a condition, but not actually cure the underlying cause of it. Based on my research, an outbreak is largely due to a lowered immunity to infections. So strengthening the immune system (through fresh fruits and dark lea...

the mentanx folks are a bunch of bastards charging too high of prices. ## Hi Wyatt, Lots of medications these days are quite expensive which is why I usually opt for natural homeopathic remedies and suggest that everyone does their best to eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables; which can be a lot more effective at healing than conventional medication. Nonetheless, when you're in a bind you can find discount cards for medication online. For Mentanx, just google "Mentanx discount coupon" and you should see a couple options pop up. Here's a link to the one that this site offers: RX Discount Card You can learn more about this drug on the page for Metanx Details I hope this helps!
