I've been taking this for months now. Just had the most horrible nightmare ever. I was in hysterics after I woke. This only seems to happen if I get off schedule taking it. It's extremely unforgiving. I even start itching all over if I don't take it at same time every day.

Prior to being on Viibryd I was on every antidepressant/antianxiety med out there. I was on Paxil the longest but like with all of them, after being on them for a certain period of time they seem to lose their effectiveness. I was basically a guinea pig with the doctors for years. I've been on Viibryd for about 3 years and out of everything I've been on, this has been the best med for depression and anxiety I have ever taken. I hope a generic for it comes out soon.

I just started Viibryd yesterday (7/19/11) as well. I haven't been able to find any consumer reviews for this medication yet so I guess I'll keep looking... Good luck to you!

There is another thread here that I started a few days ago also... I am on my I think 5th or 6th day...so far doing fine...a little dizzy at first..anyway...I typed all that in the other thread...lol..

Unfortunately, since it is very new, there aren't a lot of people with information to share about their experiences actually using it, yet.

Here's a link to the other thread that LS mentioned starting about it:

And a link to the information page on the medication:

Does anyone else have any comments or experiences to share?

I took viibryd for 6 weeks and was then taken off the medication for adverse side effects. I was having electric like surges in my head, with twitching, and began having headaches. Since being taken off the med (3 days) I have been in a sedation type sleep. I am going to my doc today to see what's up. I hope it work for others better than it did me.

I started taking viibryd two months ago. At first it was ok. Now I have diarrhea every time I eat. I also cannot sleep. I can go two days and feel so tired but cannot go to sleep. I am also very light headed all the time. I also feel like I have an allergic reaction after I take the pill. One of my latest is my eyes are very dry and burn all the time. My eye doctor couldn't believe how dry my eyes were. When I left the eye Dr I did some research and found that it can effect eyes. I have an appt with my Dr in one week. I don't know if I can keep taking this. And by the way my sex drive got a little better and now nothing.....

i could possibly deal with the low sex drive, but the nightmares are something i can't ignore. for some reason, they are worse during naps, but i've begun getting violent at night because of them. i'm about to drop viibryd like a bad habit!

I just completed two weeks on Viibryd. Very nauseous with diarhea.Nausea went away after a week.. Diarhea has not. It still plagues me. Sexual side effects: I gave it a try this weekend..no luck. My doctor says to stay on the medication. He says expect no miracles in just weeks. He predicts better adjustments and results to come. Depression has improved. Part of the side effect problems may be that I started with the top dosage of 40 mg. No titration. I had had been on Wellbutrin. Great for the sex life but not very effective, for me, as an a-d.

I get vivid dreams with Viibryd but no nightmares. My dreams as a side effect are acceptable. I hope the nightmares subside.

I just started taking Viibryd for about a week now, and i haven't noticed much of a difference other than I seem a little happier. last night I missed a dose and I had such a vivid and disturbing dream that I woke up almost in tears and don't want to go back to sleep. If I have another one like that, I'm done!

Lea,

I didn't go off my Well when I started Vii. I thought I would give it a try a month or so into it and it was awful. I have never had withdrawals from Well. Have been on and off it and never had a problem until after a couple of weeks I would be upset at the world and realize I needed to stay on it. But when I went off it with the Vii I was soooo nervous and would wake up with my heart pounding. That lasted about 5 or 6 days and I took my Well to see if it would make a difference and about 45 min afterwards I felt soooo much better. Have been on Vii going on I think 4 or so months...it has done wonders for me. My doc did tell me that the FDA was thinking about lowering the recommended dosage to 20mg because that is what most people are liking and staying on. I am keeping my 40mg...lol... But it is something to think about. You don't have to go up to the 40mg.

I also have very vivid dreams, but nothing I can't live with!

I went off Wellbutrin before going oto Viibryd. I hads been using the Well. to augment Cymbalta in hopes of overcoming the sexual side effects of Cymbalta (which are supposed to be pretty low but not for me). Viibyrd 's main sell for me is the lack of sexual effects. I'm not there yet at three weeks but still hopeful. I could always go back to adding the Wellbutrin. I shouldn't have to do so..I hope.

Update: I talked to my doctor today. He said at nearly 4 weeks since my start on Viibryd, I should no longer have stomach issues. He said sexual problems shouldn't be an issue based on the studies he's seen. He says there are always exceptions and I may be one. For now, he's ordered me to cut the Viibryd from 40 mg per day to 20 mg and add 150 mg of Wellbutrin per day. If there aren't posotive changes in a week, then he plans to step me down off Viibryd. Since I have sexual problems even with a drug, like Viibryd (which is supposed to have none) then we'll tur our attention solely to Wellbutrin and figure out how to handle my MDD and other issues on Wellbutrin alone. This is not to discourage anyone from taking Viibryd. Its an update on my situation.

I switched from pristiq to viibryd and continued with my wellbutrin which my doc added to help with mental focus and energy. My pdoc gave me enough samples for one month trial. I started the 10 mg the first week and felt great! The following week I bumped up to the 20 mg. still feeling good but occasional insomnia but not too bad. 3rd and 4th week went up to 40 mg. insomnia started occurring more often by the 4th week I asked p doc about sleep problems and she perscribed a low dose of trazadone at bedtime. The ongoing lack of sleep was taking it's toll. Even with trazodone I would either be in a coma and groggy the whole next day or I would feel so worn out like I felt I should be sleeping but have racing thoughts through out the night. The final straw was after our kitty died suddenly from unknown causes, I started having disturbing thoughts of seeing my kitty die before my eyes over and over again. I started having disturbing and irrational fears of harm coming to my other 2 cats. I've never had that experience before! There are some real issues with viibryd. It maybe dose related as others have posted. I also feel like a lab rat as another poster commented. I will be calling my pdoc today.

Lacey,

Just to let you know...my doc said that the FDA was considering dropping the recommended doseage to 20mg. Seems that is what people are better on. I am going to keep my 40mg. It has totally changed my life!!

Lea, maybe upping to the 350mg Well would help. That is what I am on.

Good Luck to all of you!! Vii seems to be a hit and miss thing with everyone. Some love it and some hate it...

I have been on this medication for 4 months now and I am having crazy side effects. I have urinated at night while sleeping and didn't even know it. It gives me dreams about demons and the underworld. I am not crazy first of all. I am bipolar. I have problems talking. When I try to talking it causes me to have trouble getting my words out correctly. I think I have to high of a dosage. I take 40mg. I also have to take trazodone at night with it and zanax to come my nerves and irrations. Sex is a big problem with my husband and I. I am just not interested in looking at a naked man or participating. It has done a lot of good things too. My attention span is better. I can focus better. I enjoy my kids more being on this medicine then I use to. I enjoy life more. Good Luck!!

Well I finally got off the viibryd. I thought I was loosing my mind. I have never had that experience in my life and it was really scarry! Horrible dreams, paranoid thoughts, easily irritated and crying all the time. I started seeing things at work. We have carpet with a pattern I thought I saw out of the corner of my eye cockroaches or rats crawling on the carpet and it was just the pattern. Then one night my heart was pounding so fast in my chest I hadn't slept well in 2 weeks. My doc took me off of the viibryd and said I was having a bad reaction to the viibryd. It's been 4 days off the viibryd and feel back to normal. The doc switched me to zoloft. It's helping a lot. I feel 100% better!

I am sooo glad to be off Viibryd. I am pretty well sober of it now, but it took a while for the crazy dreams to dissappear. But within a day or two I noticed that the sexual side effects were gone. I agree that the 40mg Viibryd is messed up and has serious problems.
