No registration is required and your identity remains anonymous.I have been taking Effexor XR, 150 Mg.for about 7 years. My pain management doctor suggested that I switch to Cymbalta, 30 Mg.for a week and then 60 Mg.We felt that Cymbalta would be a better choice with Tramadol 150 Mg.that I currently take.Does anyone have experience with Cymbalta helping major depression /anxiety as well as pain relieved? Will 60 Mg.of Cymbalta be comparable to 150 Mg.of Effexor XR? ## Hello, Shar! How are you? I'm curious as to why it was felt that the Cymbalta would be a better choice with the Tramadol? Both Cymbalta and Effexor are in the exact same drug class, they are both SNRI antidepressants, so the same risks and possible interactions are there with both of them and the Tramadol, nothing is lessened by switching from one to the other. I'm sorry, if I...
Cymbalta was prescribed to help nerve pain as a result of a cut nerve during surgery. I have been on it for 6-7 weeks and have little relief. My oncologist wants be to go off of it so I've been taking one every other day. I'm having bad pains now. Is this from weaning off.? ## Hello, Ali! Sorry about the pain that you're in. Yes, it may be a rebound effect from tapering them, some medications can do that. Why does he want you to discontinue it? What are you taking to treat the pain now? ## I've been on gabapentin for over two years, oxicodone 10, and In chemo with Doxil. Bad reaction same time starting Cymbalta and doxil. Doctor wanted me off cymb. to see which one was causing side effects.
Is 60mg of cymbalta the same as 150 mg of Welbutrin ## Hello, Dee! How are you? These two aren't in the same class of medications, so they really wouldn't be considered the same, at all. They can't be used interchangeably. You can learn more specific Wellbutrin details here. It's an atypical antidepressant that's also used to aid in smoking cessation. And at this link you can learn more Cymbalta details and see that it's an SNRI antidepressant. Has your doctor switched you from one to the other?
Started cymbalta med in late 2006. Initially, I lost about 8 lb and besides some other "bad" side effects, the results to this day are good and 'steady'. However, in the last four years the weight has started to creep up little by little to where I can not (even with modest excessive) get back down to where it was initially in 2006. Also, as I eat properly and very cautiously, the weight now drastically fluctuates from day to day. I believe my age, now 61, along with the 60mg of cymbalta, might demand at least ..now...35 minutes on treadmill three times a week for this initial weight loss to be restored....but I'm a bit lazy recently..... ## Hello, Howard! How are you doing? Sorry about the weight issue. On top of the issue with the weight gain, your recent laziness ...
I am 21 and am on day 41+ of a severe chronic sinus infection. I say plus because I was taking the medication Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia pain before my counting started and I believe the symptoms I experienced from Cymbalta were so intense that it hid the infection since my "Day 1" is from a trip to the ER and I've read it takes awhile for you to end up in the hospital from sinus infections. Also, it is still going on. My doctor originally thought my symptoms -intense pressure in head-pain in both ears-extreme sensitivity to light and noise-and INSANE throbbing pain like a knife stabbing the right side of my head randomly for minutes at a time- were the start of chronic migraines or a little sinus infection, however, was wrong after I got my Brain MRI results back last week s...
Can a combination of cymbalta, gabapentin, wellbutrin, androgel and synthroid cause a false positive drug test for benzos ## I take wellbutrin and have failed last 3 ua's for my probation. my po told me not to worry just bring in my script next time I report. I have been a good boy to.
I'm on a few prescription drugs and i thought it was the Metropolol. I have been on the metoprolol for 2.5 years and never noticed anything. I've been on the Cymbalta for about 6 months. A low dose of 20 mg. My hair has aways been very thick. I notice some thinning around the forehead. ## Hello, Mike! How are you? Sorry about the hair loss. It it most likely either due to age, or the Metoprolol. If you read deeply into the detailed side effects of it, hair loss is in there and can occur in both men and women that take it. I experienced it myself, when I tried it…..and being female with a glorious mane of red, I wasn't happy about it, either! Learn more Metoprolol details here. The best thing to do would be to talk to your doctor about it and ask them to prescribe an al...
I cry a lot and I have a lot of issues in my family that cannot be overcome (Health). I need something that makes me not so emotional and DOESNT make me gain weight. I just need something to make me calm down easier. Don't suggest Cymbalta, welbutrin or Lexapro- I've tried all of those and although they worked, Lexapro was the best- I gained too much weight! Thanks! ## Hello, Terryvasil! How are you doing? Have you tried Prozac/Fluoxetine, yet? It isn't know to cause the same weight gain that the others do, as a matter of fact, if someone is carrying a few extra pounds, it's actually been known to cause them some weight loss. Learn more Prozac details here. It's also an SSRI antidepressant that can help with anxiety and other mood issues. Other side effects it can ca...
anybody in the same boat being on CymGen 30mg and changed to Serlife 50mg I don't think the CymGen was working anymore (almost 3 years) ## Hello, Jennifer! How are you? It is normal to develop a tolerance to a medication that you've been taking for a long period of time and happens to everyone, sooner or later. Sometimes you can take a medication for many years, before it happens, sometimes just a few months. When this occurs, you usually need a dosage change, or to try a different medication, like you're doing. Learn more Cymgen details here. This is an SNRI antidepressant and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks for your reply seeing as I am on Serlife 50mg now anybody else on ...
The only antidepressant I ever took for a short time was Zoloft to get me thru PMS. Age 56. I started taking Cymbalta 2 weeks ago and I feel wonderful. I was moody(never knew when it would happen). Sluggish, gain weight. For the short time, I have been moody one time and loose weight. Plus I'm changed my diet to eat healthier and exercising. It boost the serotonin in system. ## All SSRI's are harmful, some fatal while taking/withdrawling. Cymbalta is a dual SSRI (SSNRI). Take 5htp OTC at a health food outlet, no side effects. I've been at 60mg/day since 11/04, and I am pissed. I have diabetic neuropathy, no mental/emotional issues. Save yourself, pharma won't. In short, all SSRI's are FDA approved chemical lobotomies, and your Dr. makes money prescribing them. Good L...
why be restrticked for purchase 30mg of oxycondone if u r pay cash as opposed to using health insurance...... ## I can only speculate that the reasoning behind it is simply because they are trying to cut back on the supply, despite the high demand for it. They know very well and good that not everyone taking these medications has health insurance, nor can most even consider affording it. It's almost like a silent way of attacking people who heavily rely on taking this particular medication. Probably to force patients to get health insurance so they can have more control over what you take. This is just my theory but I'd be interested in hearing other people's opinions on the matter. ## I've been on it for many many years. I am on public aid and last month they decided th...
I've been taking 60mg of Cymbalta for about a month and still feel the same. Is there anyone who could tell me more about this anti-depressant? ## Hi, Several people tell me the older Anti-depressants work best for them. Tofranil (or something like that) and others. Depending on your condition and what you can take for it you may want to try one thats been around for decades.... Good Luck... ## I have been taking cymbalta for about 3 months now. Before cymbalta I took lexapro. Neither one really cured every sypmptom of my depression. Sometimes counsilling is needed to. Talk to your doc and see if maybe there is another alternative. Im going to my schyc doc 6-21-05 and see if there is anything else I can get on. Keep in touch well get through this ## Cymbalta seemed to work good for ...
I take Cymbalta 60 mg daily. I take it in the am to avoind sleepless nights, but that has not stopped. I may sleep an hour or two at the most every night. The depression is better but I am having second thoughts about continuing this medication. Like i said, I do not sleep at all. I have major night sweats and have terrible headaches. As odd as it may sound, the headaches are focused on the left side of my head. It feels like pressure and it builds. It does not last long but it is continual. I do have dizzy spells as well. I love what this has done for my depression but I am so confused about everything else that is happening since I started taking this drug. I have tried other anti depressants but this one seems to help the most. What to do?? ## Which other antidepressants have you tri...
Hello! I starting taking Cymbalta just yesterday after gaining almost 20kgs on Lexapro (took it for 18 months) I've read mixed reviews on people gaining more weight on it or losing weight. Today so far (its almost 2pm) I have no appetite whatsoever and have only managed to eat one piece of sourdough toast. On lexapro by this time of day I would have already eaten eggs on toast and be onto making pasta for lunch, I was always so hungry! So I feel pretty confident that I will be losing the Lexapro weight while on Cymbalta. Have you lost weight on Cymbalta? I'd be interested to know others experience. ## Hi Luella, While I haven't personally taken Cymbalta, I did come across reviews from other users who have tried it. And I'm actually surprised by the number of people who c...
just started third week on cymbalta having discontinued cipramil 40mg for 6 months. At this point still feel extremely depressed with anxiety thrown in. Having sweats bad nausea and headaches feel dreadful. Gp advised to stick with it for at least 4 weeks as should improve?? I do not go back for a hospital appt for 5 weeks, can anyone help and give me some hope with this drug.. Have taken prozac in the past very similiar side effects which improved after about 4 weeks. Thankyou to any one that may be able to help. ## Hi, Mary! Sorry about the difficulties you're having. How are you feeling today? And yes, it can take about 4 to 6 weeks for the medication to reach its full effectiveness level in your body, so your GP was right. You do need to give it some time. On top of that, if the...
I have been taking Cymbalta for about four months and it wasn't long before I noticed that I became almost instantly overly social. I have never been a social person, but now I feel like I laugh and talk way too much. Then I started saying inappropriate things I don't mean. Does anyone have this problem. I never had this problem in the past as I was not very social. It seems that all of my judgement has gone right out the door. I am afraid to even open my mouth anymore. Please help ! ## Sorry about the problem that you're having. And yes, it is well known that some of these types of medications can have odd effects on some people that take them. While being more social and talkative isn't necessarily a huge problem, saying inappropriate things can definitely be an issue ...
I am 53 & never taken any meds other than aspirin, except Percoset lately for headaches from an annyerism surgery. I realized it helped with my anxiety. Dr. wants to put me on Cymbalta instead. Should I stay on Percoset or switch to Cymbalta ? Which side effects are worse ? ## Sorry, but it sounds like you are addicted to percoset. Many anti-depressants can help with addiction, and Cymbalta has been approved to treat some types of pain, but I don't think you should start if its anxiety that you are reporting. The percoset is only dulling your senses at this point. I'm guessing that it's physically jittering to NOT take it. That is not the same as anxiety from a psychiatric disorder, which usually starts earlier in life. It's like say you were feverish, so you started...
I was diagnosed with EOD of the Alzheimers type in 2007, by mid 2010, I was so ill, I asked my Doctor for a shot of Adrenalin: after much procrastination, the Doctor prescribed Cymbalta 30 mg, a drug not directed at A/D, with the proviso that if I felt suicidal, I was to stop immediately......well the rest is history.....34 months later, and I have halted this horrible disease, and apart from feeling like a dog that has had distemper and survived, I am living a normal life once again......as of this current moment, 04-04-2013, ...I still take only 30 mg and feel as confident and as good as I did in 2003..........I do not know what I have found here, but it certainly warrants immediate research by an astute drug company.... ## Hi, Tony! Very glad that it has helped you so much. Cymbalta ...
I quit cymbalta cold turkey 6 days ago. I developed severe burning itchy weeping peeling skin. Will i hit the wall as they say? And when. I have taken numerous meds over the last 15 year due to to numerous orthopedic surgeries the most recent of which was a c-3 to t-3 with rods, 16 giant screws. plates, vertebral cage and was in the hospital for a month just a year ago. I lead as active a life as possible, exercise and take hilly walks with a walker. My pain doc prescribed the cymbalta for pain, neuropathy and muscle spasms etc as at this point I am allergic to many narcotics. I read about brain zapping and so on, but I don't think I have had that occur. How would it manifest itself? Over the last 14 years I have had spells where I just need to lay low for a day and regroup and move...
pain doc prescribed 30 mg per day 4 months ago. I was in the hospital for a month a year ago as my spine collapsed and I was fused from C-3 to T-3 with lots of giant screws, 4 titanium rods etc. I had had a C-3 to C-7 fusion in 1997 which was way less complex and dangerous. I have taken a number of different meds over the years and over time I developed severe allergic to all narcotics and methadone. The recovery has been slower than I had hoped but I try and cope by exercising, leading as normal a life as possible, walking a mile daily using a walker n our hilly neighborhood. I have some spasticity, difficulty done fine things with my hands (I.e. putting on earrings, stying my hair, applying makeup, etc., )buttons buckles on and on. I have terrible proprioception,. Like most people in ...
