I became tolerant to the Enbrel and the plaques started coming back especially on the scalp. Was put on Stellara which caused unrelenting fatigue and nausea with no clearing at all so I stopped. I am now taking Cosentyx which caused nausea and fatigue for a day or two after each shot. I just took my 6th dose and again have nausea and fatigue. The Cosentyx has stopped the spreading of the plaques but I have not had any clearing as of yet. I have been told not to expect much for three months so I have started the timer. Good luck to all of you and thank you for sharing, it gives me hope. ## How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? Yes, it can usually take awhile for any given medication to reach its full leve...
6 REPLIES UpdatedAnybody taking Cosentyx experienced weight gain? ## Hello, John! How are you? As reported by the FDA, it is usually known to cause weight loss, as a side effect. You may also experience nausea, fever, headache and stuffy nose. Can anyone else that's been on it chime in with their experiences? ## Cosentyx gives me a full feeling with very little food and feels like it takes longer to digest. I am only on my 4th week of use. I am overweight and this is a positive, for now. ## 8 month user & over weight. Yes, Cosentyx causes weight loss. Less of an appetite, little food and you feel full. And...difficulty swallowing, indigestion, lethargy and hair loss. ## I'm getting ready to start this medicine. I was just reading a forum where everyone said they gained 20lbs plus. But to hea...
7 REPLIES UpdatedI took the shot for a 5 week start up. Developed diarrhea about 2 weeks into inj's.; Started having blood in diarrhea; Arthritis affected joint that was never affected before; Could hardly walk. Seen my Rheumatologist for kind words of 'there is nothing we can do'. ER doctors said there's nothing we can do either. Now 11 weeks and 30 lbs lighter, I am finally getting under control. I will deal with ulcerative colitis the rest of my life. I would say STAY AWAY FROM ALL INJ'S.! ## Have you ever had bowel issues, before? Cosentyx has been known to aggravate/worsen existing inflammatory bowel disease as a side effect, according to FDA reports. Other side effects may include cold sore outbreaks, outer ear infections, headache, weight gain, and voice changes. Ref: Medline ...
1 REPLY UpdatedHi, I’m a 43 year old female and have had psoriatic arthritis for 26 years now. I’ve been on several different treatments in the past and now taking Cosentyx since feb 2021. I started with the loading dose and now on 300mg fortnightly. I haven’t experienced any side effects yet, however the last 4 days have noticed blood in my urine with tiny clots. I had a urinalysis done and results were clear of infection except it showed high level of blood in urine. I also had a renal and pelvis ultrasound and the results were good. My Dr has referred me to a urologist who I will see on 31st May. Back in 2004, while I was taking methotrexate I experience blood in urine and had a cystoscopy done. The results showed a malignant tumor in my bladder which was removed. I had no further...
2 REPLIES UpdatedI've been on cosentyx for a few months now for psoriatic arthritis and it worked great. However, for the last month I've been having the worse pain. I ache everywhere. I've never had pain like this. I wake up with my fingers and toes swollen and I have so much joint pain in my arms and shoulders I can't even brush my hair. I even took two shots of cosentyx last month and not a smidgen of relief. What gives? ## Unfortunately, it has been known to cause such side effects in some people that have used it, along with oral thrush, diarrhea, dizziness, and cough. Have you consulted your doctor? These could be symptoms of a possible severe reaction, and you should no longer use it, you may need to try something else. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Does anyone have s...
2 REPLIES UpdatedHi - I have had Moderate to Severe plague psoriasis for 45 yrs and only for the past 2.5 yrs did I get diagnoised with Psoriatic Arthritis and have been on Cosentyx for 6 months to battle both the skin and the Psoriatic Arthritis and sadly I'm starting to have break through psoriasis and hasn't really touched my psoriatic arthritis. Anyone else having break through psoriasis after 6 months if Cosentyx injections? P.s. Cosentyx has 100% cleared my skin and no adverse reactions at all. ## I am controlling my arthritis (osteo and Rheumatoid) using the no-nightshade died. Works great for me, when I eat at home. But, it makes traveling more difficult. Restaurants have problems with dietary restrictions, such as my lactose intolerance. ## Unfortunately, no medication can be guaranteed...
3 REPLIES UpdatedI will be starting my monthly injections this week. Did my 5 weeks than waited the month. The last week and a half I have been cleaning my brush out daily (full of hair). My scalp plaques are all but gone just like a light dandruff so I'm thinking that it's more likely to be from the Cosentyx rather than clogged hair follicles. Has anyone else had this happen? Otherwise my skin has been clearing amazingly ## Yes, it has been known to cause hair loss, in some people that take it, in aftermarket reports, according to the FDA. You are definitely not the first person to notice such an issue while taking it. Other side effects may include nausea, diarrhea, infections, and an increase in the outbreaks of cold sores. NDC code: 00078-0639 Has anyone experienced hair loss on Cosentyx? Ca...
2 REPLIES UpdatedI have been on Cosentyx for 8 weeks. Next shot will be at the end of next week. My question or concern is that the psoriasis on the palms of my hands has started to peel all the skin off. Very uncomfortable. The past few days the back of my hands started to peel. Now from wrist to mid finger. Is this something I need to be worried about? ## There is a chance that might be a serious side effect of this medication, according to the FDA, so you should check with your doctor. You may also experience nausea, headache, diarrhea, yeast infections, and outer ear infections. Has there been any change? Are you on any other medications? ## Thank you for responding to my question. There have been no changes, and yes the Dr. gave me a spray corticosteroid. My palms have peeled similar to this in the...
3 REPLIES UpdatedMedicine worked great but had a lot of side effects. One of which was very bad mouth sores. As much as 40 at one time. Stopped cocentyx and still am suffering with mouth sores. It's been 1 month since I stopped med. anyone else have this problem! I can't get rid of them. ## Hello, Von! How are you doing? Has there been any change? Are they outside or inside of your mouth? As reported by the FDA, this medication has been known to cause flare ups of oral herpes, also known as cold sores. It can also cause oral yeast infections, as well as other infections that may require medical treatment. Have you had your doctor check them out? ## The sores are in my mouth, throat and tonsils. I have seen several doctors and they do not know what to do. The only doctor I have not seen is a rume...
11 REPLIES UpdatedThe needles of this month's Cosentyx shots (the hippy pen) have had a problem, whereas the actual needle stayed in the cap upon twist removal. Has anyone else had this problem? ## Yours is the first complaint I've read of this nature, but I am not online 24/7, either. I would suggest calling Novartis, the manufacturer, they list the number on the Cosentyx site as 1-844-267-3689. What type of needles are they? Is there a name brand, or do they just come with the Cosentyx? I really hope you can get some resolution with a phone call. If they don't come with the Cosentyx, and are just provided by your doctor, or pharmacist, I would suggest contacting them about it. I've never known a needle that had a cap that had to be twisted for removal, however, I don't know everythi...
1 REPLY UpdatedI started cosentyx 3 months ago. After 5 shots in the first month I was 90% clean.. I thought that this medicine was a miracle. Then I started shots once a month and suddenly after 2 months I am as bad as I was before starting cosentyx. I have psoriasis in my feet and hands.. Are there any others with a similar experience? I just don't know what to do...continue or stop the med? ## Hi Harris I am similar had five first month 99% clear from psoriasis and lessen pain from psoriatic arthritis then gone to monthly but on second monthly injection but pains are so bad again on oramorph, zomorph, gabapentin and fentynal patches nearly every day so I feel same do t know where to go :( ## When taking Cosentyx, does anyone know how long I should keep away from someone who has been given a live ...
2 REPLIES UpdatedJust started it last week, I'll keep you posted as to how it works. I've tried almost all of the biological drugs but most all have lost effectiveness. ## Hello, Karen! How are you doing on it? This class of medications seems so strange, they work great for some people and others have no luck with them. Cosentyx is approved by the FDA to treat plaque psoriasis. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, cold symptoms, diarrhea and skin rash. Has anyone else tried this one? ## I have been on Cosentyx since April 2015. I just started seeing results. I have severe plaque psoriasis on both feet (which I'm told is hard to treat), and I have less scales on my left foot. Not much improvement on the right foot. I also use Clobetasol ointment. Like K...
8 REPLIES UpdatedI have just takken my 3rd injection of cosentyx 150 mg. Other than poor sleep I did not suffer any of the other listed side effects. Until now. Overnight every gland I possess has swollen up. I'm shivering and pelvis, sternum, and every other white cell production area in my body is aching. Taking 1000mg Paracetamol every 4 hours. Feel rotten. Anybody else suffer this type of side effect? Oh by the way..... no improvement in either psoriasis or arthropathy ## Yes, this medication has been known to cause such immune responses, in some people, according to FDA reports. You may also experience diarrhea, increased outbreaks of oral herpes, and stomach pain. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? ## I’ve been on Cosentyx 300 mg/1x month now for ten months, or so. In the...
2 REPLIES UpdatedI have NAFLD and have been told I need a liver transplant but the infliximab I am using at the moment isn't working and I am in constant pain in my shoulders, hands, knees and feet as well as pain in my ribs due to my liver and enlarged spleen. Have been told I can use this but am a bit sceptical about this after reading forums and would appreciate any feedback. ## I didn't see any warnings about it causing problems with liver disease, or being contraindicated, but it is always best to seek the opinion of another doctor, if you aren't sure. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, muscle aches, cough, and weight loss. Is this the only medication you will be taking?
1 REPLY UpdatedDoes anyone have any kind of liver ailment and is using cosentyx? Also, does this drug come in pill form? ## Hello Arl! How are you? No, there is currently no pill form. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including administration site irritation, redness, cough, diarrhea, dizziness and weight loss. What type of liver condition do you have?
