Coreg And Pacemaker

I have stage 1 chf. I had a mitral valve replaced with a St Jude valve. I am taking 25 mg of Coreg twice a day. Wouldn't a pacemaker keep the heart rate up? Do I still need Coreg? I exercise regularly, eat a heart healthy
diet and have no symptoms.

Congestive heart failure is caused by fluid build up from elevated blood pressure, and usually elevated sodium levels. Your heart starts to become so stressed that it weakens and can no longer pump properly, which causes blood and fluid to back up into the lungs, a person develops edema, and usually starts to experience tiredness, and shortness of breath.

Thus, it is very important to keep your blood pressure regulated, too, not just your heart rate. You can learn more on Medline Plus Heart Failure.

A medication, such as Coreg, can also help with your overall heart function, so you should take it, as long as your doctor deems it necessary.

Is there anything else I can help with?
