Coming Off Invega Sustenna (Page 13) (Top voted first)
UpdatedHi,
I was given Invega Sustenna at 100mg a month for 10 months since Dec 5th. My last shot was on August 29th 2013.
The medication gave me severe anhedonia and I have lost the motivation and willpower to do anything. I can no longer experience joy, happiness, or pleasure from anything I do and I have no interest in doing anything. I constantly feel restless and uneasy and I just can't shake this feeling away no matter what. All of these started about a week after my first IV.
I have been off this medication for almost 3 months now and I have yet to feel any improvements. I have read that it has a long half life of 25-49 days and that it can stay in your body for 300 days. So does that mean I will have to wait a year to start feeling better?
Any info on someone who has been off this med would be greatly appreiciated. I am interested to learn how many months it takes to feel better after invega sustenna.
Thank you
Don't worry, she has you, she's going to get through this bad phase
Re: Sandh (# 214)
Im not familiar with a community order what is this? is it legal?
be safe when dealing with psycotic drugs that are being given by psychiatrist you wont get the full details of the side effects in the long run it will mess your world up i dont recommend them for anyone its a living hell there are other alternatives
My last shot is in April 2018. By then I would have been on the shot for 2 years. I've experienced everything from anhedonia, blank mind, cognitive effects, and weight gain. I still have the cognitive effects today, and it's hard to socialize with others. It's like I can't keep up with the conversation, so I just keep it short and brief. I used to write music, but words don't come to me as easily anymore. Would this all change once I'm finally off invega sustenna? How normal would you be after 8-10 months off invega? How does it feel to be off the drug once it's eliminated from your body? How does it feel for your brain to be back to normal?

CTO is a legal agreement where you are forced to take meds/injections, otherwise they call the cops on you and take you to the hospital
Re: Jamaal (# 236)
2 years is a long time, why you been on these injections for so long
8-10 months for who had 2/3 injections, I had 4 injections. And it looks like It's going to take me over a year
Your recovery might take around 2/3 years since you were on these injections long term, sorry
Long term antipsychotics alter the brain and also cause brain damage
I'm 8 months off and not much improvement
The doctor can involve the cops and force you on treatment or get you to stay at the hospital. if you don't follow their guidelines
But thankfully my cto was over in august
2 things that are helping me get through this nightmare, mega doses of vitamin c. Second spending time alone and not be around others, make the suffering less
I stay awake all night and sleep during day time
Cause your family and other people can't understand wut your going thru. So it gets a lot easier when your alone
Re: Sandh (# 237)
hi sandi i guess i dont understand a legal document with who? your of age so i guess i dont understand unless they have parental guardianship over you it seems like you would be able to make your own decisions on wheather you choose to take the medicine or not if your of age
I was in the hospital for 2 months where they gave me these injections, and they let me out only under condition with the cto agreement where I would keep getting the treatment, my parents had the parental guardianship, the agreement was supposed to be for six months but my parents cancelled it half way through
Re: Sandh (# 242)
so being that your parents canceled it half way through whats this mean for you?
That doctors and parents no longer can make a decision for me, I make my own decision. And I say no to the drugs
Since I don't have my memory I don't even remember why they forced these drugs on me. I say no to these doctors. Whatever damage they caused I'm going to fix myself up on my own.
Re: Sandh (# 244)
well alright then thats great well you know what you need to do then for yourself but it does sound like you need a little more positive support in your life negativity is the last thing you need just cause these drs and pshciatrist have a label dont always mean they know whats best alot of them are all about getting paid they read out of a book just like we do the only difference is they dont tell the worse of the worse they rather us stay blind to the real facts so they can keep you coming back for more then once your hooked they gotcha cause we put so much trust in them not anymore im good wel you take care of yourself ill be near
Re: a concerned parent (# 246)
Thanks :) I appreciate it, the best thing for me right now is to be alone for 3/4 months cause it doesn't help being around my parents. I'm Indian and grew up abroad and they are from back home.. we have thinking differences and conflict. Once this med is out of my system and I start recovering I'll be fine.. I'm just afraid of the damage 3 months of meds caused. Will my brain recover from this? But thanks, you're a great help and you have it worse than me. I hope we all make it out fine. Let's smash invega.
Re: Sandh (# 238)
It was court ordered by the judge. I was hospitalized, and shortly after I was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. I'm not sure if I really have it, but I admit that I was hearing voices in my head. I don't think my psychiatrist knows that for sure, but she recommended that I stay on my meds until April. By doing so, there's a better possibility of me not relapsing. I'm weaning off of invega sustenna, so I have one more dose to lower down to. I start that dose in February. The side effects that aren't listed are intense. The sexual dysfunction, foggy headedness, and not to mention I wake up every day feeling like s***. I just want a second chance at being me again. This stuff stole my entire personality, confidence, and charisma. I just want it all back.
Re: Sandh (# 247)
Im sorry to say but invega ruins your life and it doesn't come out of your system

How many months has it been since your last shot? Sooner or later it'll eventually come out. I'm 8 months off, not much improvement but light emotions.
Re: Jamaal (# 248)
I feel the exact same way, well do wut you have to do. it's a super slow process .. keep going and I'm sure one day you will be fine, good luck
