Is there an overthe counter substitute for this cream. I have a groin rash and inch ## If you're looking for an OTC alternative, it most likely wont be quite as strong or effective as this prescription cream. I know over-the-counter Clotrimazole is 1%, but prescription Lotrisone (Clotrimazole + Betamethasone) cream also contains 1% of Clotrimazole + 0.05% Betamethasone. Maybe you could ask your pharmacist if they carry an OTC version of Betamethasone at a lesser percentage, and just combine the two? ## Can you use Clotrimazole and Betamethasone Dipropiomate on areas that you have been bitten by Yellow Jackets that come up out of the ground, I am a Diabetic

Can I use this on a 10onth old baby . Clotrazole cream USP 1% for a yeast infection ## Hi Christina, Clotrimazole is used to treat yeast infections. However, according to the US National Institute of Health, the product warning label for Clotrimazole recommends asking a doctor before applying this medication on children under 2 years of age. I don't know what sort of risk factors or side effects may be associated with children in this age group who are taking Clotrimazole, but I'm sure the age limit is in place for a good reason. So we can only hope that the doctor will be able to make an appropriate judgement call upon determining whether or not it's going to be safe. Something they may take into consideration is the child's biological age in conjunction with their chro...

My husband used Gelmicin cream that we picked up from Mexico on a diabetic ulser he had on his toe for over a year that was cracking and taking a long time to heal but not infected. He used the Gelmicin cream on it and after 3 days it is healing fantastic, almost gone actually. I am looking for this cream in Alberta and so far no luck!!! I guess it will be a great reason to return to Mexico!! Just thought I would share with anyone who suffers from diabetes issues. ## I did a quick search and found Gelmicin is a cream made up of 3 different ingredients. Clotrimazole 1%, an antifungal; Betamethasone Dipropionate 0.05%, a topical steroid to reduce inflammation; and Gentamicin Sulfate 0.1%, an anitbiotic for bacterial infection. The closest equivalent in the US is LOTRISONE (clotrimazole an...

Why can't patients under 17 use it? What harm could a topical steroid really cause? ## Hello, Mygirlz! How are you? There are actually several reasons and they vary by the age of the pediatric patient. For instance, in children under 12, there have been cases where they absorbed too much of it, due to their smaller body mass to skin ratio and suffered dangerous toxicity, this may also apply to those from 13 to 17. And for children from 13 to 17, there have been instances of adrenal suppression from its use. And all children from 12 to 17 risk developing Cushing's Syndrome from using it. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Is growth a concern in children under 12? My son had a bad rash and was given Triamcinolone Acetone Cream USP 0.1% 30 g. He did not use the whole tube. ...

can I use it on my face and how often can I apply it ## Looks like this is used to treat swelling and skin rashes due to infections. It has the following ingredients: Clotrimazole IP, Beclomethazone Dipropionate IP (Benzyl Alcohol IP, Methylparaben IP , Propylparaben IP) Cream Base. Being a topical creme, it should have safety instructions on how and where to apply it. If it does not say where to apply it, it may be ok to try starting off with a small amount on your face to see how well you react to it and bas your decision off of that test. Also, If this is a filled prescription, your doctor should have given you instructions of some sort; you should contact your doctor or local pharmacy if you experience any undesirable side effects associated with the application of this creme. The m...

I had a miscarriage 10 months back due to a hematoma in the womb. And because of continued use of sanitary napkins, I developed a severe skin itch. Tried every topical application recommended by doctors. I am now told I have a fungal infection. I am advised Canesten (Clotrimazole) vaginal tablets. One hour after insertion, there was a milky liquid discharge. Is it the infection getting out or the medicine which hasn't been inserted well? Also, I'd like to know if these medicines have any side effects of any sorts- short term or long term?

I have this Tinea Versicolor for 4 years but there is no improvment till date. ## Hi Sai, Based on my research, Candid (Clotrimazole) is reported to be an anti-fungal medication/cream, commonly prescribed for the treatment of fungal infections; which is exactly what "tinea versicolor" is (just on a more chronic level, if you will). The US National Library of Medicine also states that this condition is generally "treated" (NOT cured) by applying anti-fungal medicine (such as Clotrimazole) to the skin or by taking it orally. Ref: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0002436/#adam_001465.disease.treatment So it sounds to me like it'd be worth trying if nothing else has worked over the last 4 years. I also wanted to add that because this condition is caused by a type of yeas...

ive been having ear problems an no meds the doc gave me worke. went to a ear specialist and saw nothing wrong .but it still aches, he gave me this to put in my ear is that ok to use, ## Hi Denise, Sorry to hear about your ear infection. I realize this post is from a while back, so I hope you've managed to get things under control at this point in time. For future reference though, Clotrimazole + Betamethasone dipropionate is comprised of an antifungal + glucocorticoid steroid with anti-inflammatory & immunosuppressive properties. It's generally applied as a lotion, gel, topical cream or ointment. However, I don't see anything that says it's good for a bacterial infection (unless it's fungus related)... So you may need to get a second or third opinion on what trea...

Is it harmful to use expired clotrimazole cream for Serious Red Rash in Vagina with expiration date: November 2009 ? I would believe it is but my friend says NO....... ## Yes, you are correct and it shouldn't be used. Creams tend to degrade fairly fast and usually contain oils that can go rancid with time. Thus, trying to use one that's this old to treat a vaginal issue could just end up making the situation worse. It is best to use a new cream that is still fully potent and within its expiration date. I used Canex V during my fertile period for thrush infection due to antibiotics. Is it possible to still be able to get pregnant while you are using it. ## From what I could gather, Canex V contains the active ingredient Clotrimazole, which is an anti-fungal medication. So yes, it is normally used to treat things such as yeast/thrush infections. Regarding it's use during pregnancy, Clotrimazole topical has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. In which case animals who were given high doses intravaginally have not revealed evidence of teratogenicity. However, high "oral" doses resulted in embryotoxicity and maternal toxicity. In clinical trials involving women in their second and third trimester, Clotrimazole treatment of vaginal candidiasis was not associated wi...
