I am looking for a doctor who prescribes suboxone in the New Orleans, slidell Louisiana area. I am a single mom with no insurance, can't afford 350 a visit and prescription cost. My kids have medicaid but I don't.
Thanks.
I need to find a federally funded suboxone clinic in Louisiana to get off of my opiate addiction.

Dr.Talbot has retired,Dr.Prasad is there now. They no longer accept any insurance,it's CASH ONLY.Depending on if they like you or not u can pay anywhere between 140-280 in cash per month. Then there are these stupid classes they make u take like 4 times a year.Thats $60.00 for 1 hour,CASH of course.I know cause I have been a patient there for the past 3 years and still am there currently. Its all about the money.I have United healthcare (Medicaid) and they pay for 60 Suboxone films per month,it's 8mg/2mg.Its exactly 30 days and not a day early will they fill.U have tp get prior authorizations every 6 months.O yeah lastly u only pay $3.00 for those 60 films that u get every month.
MARC (Medication Assisted Recovery Centers) SPECIALIZES in Suboxone treatment and they are absolutely wonderful. They often have same day appointments available. It is located in Metairie. $195 per visit. 504-535-4200
Re: Sue (# 27)
From what I can tell, most of them won't accept Medicaid because Medicaid reimburses at such a low rate (like $28 for the visit or something like that). That's why there's no cost in filling the subs, just the prior authorization that's needed. Hope this helps.

Re: North Louisiana (# 154)
Yes I have healthy blue and it pays for my suboxone
Re: Jaye (# 160)
Dr. Allen J. Herbert [411 E Vaughn Ave. Ste 203. Ruston, LA 71270 / Phone #: 318-255-7474]...but there seems to be many doctors in Ruston who can write it. Before I got medicaid I had called his office and they told me the cash price but I just don't remember. But I do know they will give the info over the phone. Best of luck to you and thank you for answering my questions. Withdrawal is scary business!
Re: North Louisiana (# 158)
Sent a reply but they want to look at it. The supply will be 3 days until fully approved. But it will cost no more than 3 bucks. Get the pharmacy to send the prior authorization. And yes you will get sick. Good luck and I pay a lot for my doctor. No one accepts insurance around here. Would you mind sharing your docs name
Re: North Louisiana (# 158)
They will ok a temporary 3 day supply until they get the paperwork straight. Then, within usually 24-48hrs it's approved and it's 3 bucks for a 30 day supply. Have your pharmacy fax over the prior authorization. That starts the process. My advice to you, if you weaned yourself off of all that and are done with withdrawal, don't take the Suboxone. I had a very short-term issue with Lortab. The withdrawals from Suboxone are 10 fold and ridiculous... Do you think you can tell me the docs name? They have none around here that accept Medicaid or insurance and my visit alone is 380. It would help me very much. Suboxone does really help with pain. And if you feel you're going to have issues, take it.
Re: Jayne (# 157)
Dr accepts medicaid so I dont have to ppa.He is in Ruston. Im not sure of his cash price. He wants to give me a script for 30 day supply suboxone.. Did you mean 30 day script or the 3 day script? I am resistant to taking it since I have been weaning myself from pain management. Weaned my self off oxycodone onto hydrocodone and down to 1 1/2 norco 10/325 a day. So Im almost there. But my blood pressure spiking now to 200/120 and that started 3 weeks into taper. Im in 4th week of taper now. So I may have to if we cant get it under control soon. Thank you so much for your help!
Re: North Louisiana (# 156)
No that's not true either. A condition of them prescribing you suboxone is to verify you are in consuling. I say I go to meetings and that's good enough for my Medicaid. It's sounds like your doctor doesn't want to do the work. Bring your script to a pharmacy and let them run it. Your doctor will be faxed for a PA. Then they must submit the paper work to your insurance. You can call your insurance and they will approve you a 3 day supply. You will only have to pay 3 bucks. For your whole script. I've been going for yrs. I know the run down. Call your insurance. On the back of the card. The pharmacy number. Call them they will help you. A question for you, how much does your doc charge
Re: Jayne (# 155)
Thank you for replying! The Dr told me today that they will pay all but 25.00 if in counseling. Is this correct?
North Lousiana (# 154) --
They will. Call the number on your card and talk to them. Mine only pays for the tablets, not the strips.
Re: Sarah (# 151)
Do you know if LA Medicaid Healthy Blue will pay for suboxone? I can't find a straight answer on the internet and pharmacies that I have called say they wont know until they run the medicaid insurance card. My dr says they will not, but will only pay some of it if in counseling. Walmart's cash price for one month worth of suboxone is $644.00 and I cannot afford it! Thank u!
Re: desperate plz help (# 18)
No, you failed for methamphetamine, not methadone. Methamphetamine is Adderall / speed. Methadone is opiate treatment.

Hey I live in Monroe and I’m looking for a doctor that prescribes Suboxone that will take Medicaid. Do you have to pay for the visit? Or does Medicaid cover it?
I’m seeing Dr. Gautreaux in Bogalusa, La for suboxone. He also has an office in Kenner and Baton Rouge from what I’m told. He charges $200 for 1st visit and $180 for every visit after that. Also, he doesn’t mind if your smoking marijuana (which is a + for me)!!
Hi, for those of you needing a board certified Suboxone licensed physician who does accept Louisiana Medicaid, there's a doctor I'm currently seeing near Monroe, La. The town is called Oak Grove, La.
Re: Tommy G (# 9)
Idk if you found a dr but there's one right across the causeway in Covington that will do so.
