I've been seeing a lot of posts regarding taking benzos while on Suboxone. It is ok to take a benzo w/ suboxone - as long as you're taking the prescribed dosages you'll be fine. Now if you're taking 3 or 4 8mgs of Suboxone and say 5 or 6 Xanax that's not good, that's where the reported deaths have come from. I've been on Subs for 5 yrs. I've also been subscribed klonopin and am currently taking valium w/ it and it's fine. I'm on a low dose and only take what I am prescribed.

@Jake, First of all the person who posted the starter comment never claimed to be a Doctor, but simply posted what he or she is prescribed and says is safe if taken as prescribed. People posting things like "you will die" or "It is illegal" may stop serious addicts from seeking help, I am pretty sure it is a safer alternative to heroin and benzos. Any doctor can prescribe opiates, only "x" doctors can prescribe a safer alternative for pain and/or medication assisted treatment for the very strung out U.S. public. Maybe you should try using grammar check. This is a forum and you sir are dumb if you take what a stranger tells you for fact.;) Aholes like you are the reason she posted the original comment.

It is a horrible situation to be put in. It actually almost makes you want to relapse. I really would like to know how many people have died because of this combination and if they had other medical factors that could of lead to the deaths. I have had no problems at all.

I, too am taking 3 strips daily with 2 klonopin. I have been on this combination for three years. Yesterday, i went to fill my two rx's and the pharmacist refused to fill the suboxone. He told me the two meds are not to be prescribed together. I phoned my doctor and was told that very soon the DEA will make it illegal for doctors to prescribe a benzo with suboxone. I was able to get my prescription filled BUT as soon as my Dr gets the official notice from the DEA, I and many others will be forced to abandon the combination legally. Will be be forced to aquire one or the other illegally or just stop one or the other which, at this time, is not an option for me. The combination has been beneficial andva Godsend for this anxiety ridden ex-addict. I am now worried that I will have to go to Detox again for withdrawal fron klonopin. I know after being on benzos for 20+ years via a dr that this will probably be a horrible experience. I hope the DEA will foot the bill for it. Just because some people abuse the two and are dying is not reason enough for the DEA to make prescribing the two against the law. Do they even fathom how many legit users will be adversely affected? I bet that was not even an issue. This is a sad situation in the works.

I'm also on perocets,started on subs today. Tried before but failed,I really don't like how subs make me feel but as far as doing a whole one I just do a fourth of a piece, works as good as a whole piece and one sub will last a long time save money too

I take suboxen and a benzo. I signed a waver that I believe the benefits outweigh the risks. I am not in any way endorsing that you do this and mix these drugs. I've heard its quite dangerous. I've been on these meds for 7 years with no problems. That's just me though.

Thank you nikki for sharing...I too have been concerned..I do not abuse my xanex..my Dr. Just recently put me on them.a low dose at nite because of some personal issues I'm dealing with..I take saboxen 8mg.3 times a day and both my suboxne Dr.and my md work in the same group and work closely together..

I'm undergoing treatment for Ph+Chronic Mylogenous Leukemia and the chemo causes pain but I was dependent on hydro years ago and used subs to get off. I use buprenorphine now as my pain med and as you can imagine I've developed a lot of anxiety as a result for which I use Valium/Ativan. It's more of an as-needed medicine. I've never been concerned that I was putting myself at deaths door. I'm extremely aware of my body and if something is wrong. I've never used more than 8mg Sub per day and at my worst(bone marrow biopsy day which i choose to get without the fentanyl, I took 4 10mg valiums. yowza that hurts! I'm simply saying I've never felt a danger of the two. But I've now been on the benzo's a long time so I've begun a veery slow taper.

I've been taking diazepam and suboxone for 3-4 yrs now and I have to tell you, I'm prescribed 10mg Valium and 8mg Sub. and when I get them I take 4-5 Valium and a full Suboxone and mix it with 1 OTC sleep tablet and enjoy the rest of my day. I've never been in trouble for this, never done anything dumb, nothing close to the i****ic things I used to do when I would go on a tear when I was still out there. My point is, everybody is different and our chemical makeup varies. What works for one person, may not work for this person. So, I know what I do is not recommended and definitely on the edge of abuse, but I've been in the horrible grasp of abuse in its darkest place and my life the past 10 years is nothing like it was when I was out there using for 3 years daily, without fail..... Now a lot of you will say I'm still using and this and that and there my be some validity to that, but it's a hell of a lot better than what my life was before, that I'm 110% sure of. So all in all, taking the 2 together works fine for me, but maybe the wrong plan of action for another. Just talk to your physician and be honest with him and you'll figure out something that'll work for you...

DAM.!! dude , that's is some high doses, but hey if doc says ok , knock your self out, mind what give me crap just suboxone , 4mg x 2 a day , to help get off clonazepam 2mg a day .....ye'll crazy I know..............

I totally agree ive been on suboxen 7 years because i don't want to use morphine when im on 1/2 (4mg's) a day and my boyfriend works for a big contracting company so i travel alot and every dr.ive ever seen for suboxen has always perscribed valum or calonopans with the suboxen if you take it right or even 2 during day and 2 at night to sleep your ok just like you said just everyone using there head,and thats part of being responsible in our own recovery

Yes mate i am prescribed 100 5mg Vals with a repeat for another 100 + a script for 30mg Serepax (Oxazepam) and i find the vals weak as hell but i have been taking them for a long time and NOT taking them as prescribed,hell i take 50mg just as a starter and can work my way up to 125mg by end of day,thinking about giving them an 8

No do NOT go cold turkey! Trust me, i ve been there the same thing you are going through and suboxone films completely turned my life around. I garantatee you find suboxone dr near you and get on it right away and you will be very very happy with it.

Trust JESUS.. I was a junkie for fifteen years... Went to clinics, rehab, outpatient treatment, jail and jail and beyond counting jail, ended up in prison and I before then even knew what I was doing.. Looking with diligence; hoping any benzos or (cocktail) I could add to my addiction and say hey it's what the "Dr's say I need" and hand out excuses!!! You're not changing your lifestyle and beliefs, your changing your life to use and believe a legal lifestyle is the answer; that I'm telling you will end... With you ending up in prison, or back in prison, or dead.. And if GOD asked you that.. Alone.. Totally alone.. What do you believe...You know the truth....I've witnessed this to many times.. And thank JESUS I don't struggle with looking for answers that suit my needs.. Best of luck and GOD BLESS!! Most of all quit making EXCUSES... you're worthier than that!!
