Yes I also have copd in cheartusson has helped me a lot. But viratussion made me worse.

Just tried Tuzistra XR. Never heard about it before but it works better than Cheritussin AC for my bronchitis. Two teaspoons before bed and slept all through the night without coughing. First good night's sleep in the past 3 days! Would take me at least four teaspoons of Cheritussin AC to do the same thing. As for Tussionex, my family doctor could not call it in for me when I needed something stronger so when I went to see him in person he gave me a prescription for it but it was way too expensive. He called in Tuzistra XR for me instead and I don't wake up coughing anymore and it was cheaper! Going with Tuzistra XR first next time

It showed up bc they tested you for codeine and this syrup as codeine in it.

Cheratussin AC syrup. What good is this stuff? Have had a cough for four days. Took Dayquil and Nyquil (generic), and got some good temporary relief. Cough didn't go away completely though. Then got prescribed the Cheratussin. It did me absolutely no good taking the prescribed amount (1 teaspoon). Wanna find out if you can take quite a bit more than that for relief!!!!! Just took some more Dayquil after that, and ahhhh that nice temporary relief.

I got my cheratussin on 2/27/2017. I took it only 2 times in the morning and night. At nine o-clock in the morning my sugar was 140 before I took it and I checked it at one and it was 445. I ate one slice of wheat bread with lettuce and still my sugar was at 405. I checked it 5 times so I could go to sleep and it was at 245.

I was prescribed the exact same dose and it didn't phase my coughing I upped to 1 tablespoon and it worked. Good news is I only get this episode twice a year.

My partner has bronchitis and.prescribed this. He hasnt.had any relief in 3 days. The regular dosage isn't working. He has a heart condition. Will it hurt for him to take more than prescribed? The 5ml isn't working.

How long can you keep cheratussin a.c. syrup after you pick it up from the pharmacy? I have some from 3/16/2017. Is it still good or is it bad?

In North Carolina, a private ownership pharmacy can sell me Cheratussin OTC, but CVS requires a prescription. Why?

OMG!! Thanks for info I had no clue the cheratussin had CODEINE! And yes I had to take 2 to 3 tsp two start to get relief!

Ch AC is available OTC w/proof of age in almost all states BUT it is finding a pharmacist who will allow it. As far as someone abusing it. They are stupid if they do. Codiene is very weak and all you will get is an upset stomach if you drink too much. It does help w/the coughing and sleep but you have to take a whole 4oz bottle

I have asthma,severe cough, and COPD. Unable to cough mucous up. My primary care doctor prescribed Cheratussin AC earlier this month. I had finished taking it all but was no better--even after taking a round of Prednisone and antibiotic's. The Cheratussin AC worked so I could get a short nap. The Prednisone was keeping me a wake and making me feel very nervous. They call it the 'miracle' drug for a reason--it helps your respiratory system get over the virus, so even with its side affects, it's necessary at times. I finally had coughed so much that I lost my voice entirely and became more severe with the coughing. Referred back to see my pulmonary doctor, he prescribed
TUSSIONEX FOR SEVERE COUGHING. However, Medicare wouldn't cover any portion of it, one bottle would cost nearly $90.00, too costly for me. I don't know the difference in these two med's but the pharmacist is checking back with the pulmonologist with the hope that he will approve me just taking the CHERATUSSIN AC. I don't understand why Medicare wouldn't cover a prescribed medication from a specialist in lung problems and I'm paying for Medicare coverage. Obviously the TUSSIONEX has something in it that works better for my illness or the specialist wouldn't have prescribed it over the other choice CHERATUSSIN AC. i understand they both contain Codeine and you only take one of them at a time. I had finished taking the CHERATUSSIN AC but the cough worsened. I then decided to see my lung doctor for further evaluation. It's absolutely rIdiculous the price being charged for the TUSSINONEX, almost $90.00 for one bottle of the TUSSIONEX (WHO CAN AFFORD IT).
The CHERATUSSIN AC cost nearly $10.00 for one bottle -quite a difference in price, but affordable right now. Who knows in the future cost? So, it comes down to which drug works better? and why such an enormous differen ce in cost?

Because it contains a narcotic...Codeine. It is a controlled substance.

stylez......are you serious??? It IS MOST ASSUREDLY ALREADY PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE !!!! If you have a question for a doctor regarding a medication's appropriateness regarding your situation (drug testing), then take some responsibility for your life and ASK THE BLOODY QUESTION!! It is not her responsiblity to anticipate every minute detail of your existence.

When you are diabetic and you get sick at all, it raises your blood sugars to begin with. This happens with most any diabetic. My endocrinologist always changes my insulin dose when I am sick to compensate. (But please do not do this without Dr.'s instruction if you are on insulin, particularly.
BUT this cough syrup I am sure has sugar in it. So I would just outweigh the benefits. Another medicine to take over the counter is Deslym--it is sugar-free, but probably does not work as well. If it is temporary with the cherry tussin, so I would just touch base with your Doctor.---I am NOT a doctor nor work in the medical field, this is just my personal experience. Good Luck!!
