U need an antibiotics to help the cough as well. Using this syrup alone will take months to get rid of the cough.

I was prescribed this medication to help with the cough associated with my bronchitis. I have had it in the past and it made me vomit and feel miserable, but the nurse said to take it with lots of water this time and I haven't had any stomach problems with it since. It really helps with the cough and helps me sleep, but I can only take it at night if I work late the next day because I don't feel comfortable driving with it in my system. I get too groggy. I asked for a different cough suppressant and they gave me something called tessalon perles and those worked wonderfully and didn't have the narcotic ingredients that were making me so drowsy.

I know this is really late in coming, but I think I can help you understand so the next time you come across this situation, you may be more aware. Cheratussin AC has Codeine in it which shows up in a standard Opiate drug screen. The drugs that would be screened for are morphine and codeine. So, that's why you had a positive drug test. You took codeine and that drug is tested for in a standard drug test.

yes tussinex is better cus it has hydrocodone..witch is lortab there for its alot stronger.. codeine is in that family but not the same.so cheratussin is much different

drug test test for opiates and codeine is an opiate. other opiates are many narcotic pain relievers, heroin, and other cough meds. be sure to know what is in your meds before you take them people!

YES! It absolutely affects blood sugar. Codeine can cause problems for people that have high blood pressure, diabetes and epilepsy. Please see the information on drugs.com

You tested positive on your drug test because codeine is an opiate, along the lines of morphine and heroin.

Codeine is an opiate, and is a methylated form of morphine.
Drug panels generally check for opiates to make sure you're not taking H or similar opiate drugs.

My Cheratussin AC cough syrup was prescribed 3 yrs. ago. I still have some and wonder whether it's safe to take, as directed, for the bad cough I have now? It's been refrigerated ever since I quit taking it after getting well 3 yrs. ago, but it looks cloudy, and I wonder whether it's just an effect of the refrigeration.

Tussinexx has hydrocodone in it thats why it kicked your butt you just took a high dose pain Med in a liquid form it will hit you way faster pills take 45mins-1hr to take effect the Tussinexx pretty much instant 10-15 mins just thought I'd let you know in case you didn't
