My grandson and I have been taking cheratussin ac this past week also and we can't sleep with it either. I have never been able to sleep if I take any kind of narcotic though, I have the reverse, I get hyped up, so I quit taking it and went back to the dollar store dextromathore (sp) stuff, it does work for me.

This would come up on a drug panel because codeine is an opiate that essentially gets changed into morphine by your body

It has Codeine, a heavy narcotic. It's similar to opium or oxy. That's what they look for in drug panels. Narcotics, amphetamines thc, and other things.

I have cough, cold, fever and body aches with bronchitis 2 weeks ago.. I was prescribed Azithromycin 250 mg and Cheratussin ac syrup for cough to help me sleep. I took 10 ml prior to sleep for 3 consecutive nights with midnight snacks. So smooth, slept like a baby... no hang over. Medicine only gives temporary relief. Sleep heals the body..

i just got prescribed this for excessive coughing and the bottle says 1to2 tsp every 6 to 8 hrs it is not helping at all. i sick of coughing myself to death! Any suggestions??

I am a diabetic and this med is supose to be good for diabetics. Always check with your dictor or nurse befire taking anything!

My Cheratussin AC cough syrup was prescribed 3 yrs. ago. I still have some and wonder whether it's safe to take, as directed, for the bad cough I have now? It's been refrigerated ever since I quit taking it after getting well 3 yrs. ago, but it looks cloudy, and I wonder whether it's just an effect of the refrigeration.

Tussinexx has hydrocodone in it thats why it kicked your butt you just took a high dose pain Med in a liquid form it will hit you way faster pills take 45mins-1hr to take effect the Tussinexx pretty much instant 10-15 mins just thought I'd let you know in case you didn't

This drug pops up as a pure opiate on a drug panel because it has codeine in it.

I'm no authority on the subject, but I would think you would be flirting with danger to do so. Check with your pharmacist!

To answer your question it has codeine in it, which is an opiate and in standard drug panels will come up on the same line as any other opiate.

U need an antibiotics to help the cough as well. Using this syrup alone will take months to get rid of the cough.

Yes I also have copd in cheartusson has helped me a lot. But viratussion made me worse.
