Hello all..Sept 29,2014 I was put in the hospital for having 2 massive clots in my lungs. I was put on the small dose of Xarelto for 21 days taking them twice a day. Now I just started 2 days ago taking 20mg 1 time a day. I havent had any issues except for a pain that is in my left arm. What makes me a little worried is when I went into the hospital it was cause I was short of breath and a pain in my left arm.. So should I be worried or is it just a side effect? ## Hi Kendra, Sorry to hear about your troubles with those symptoms. Based on my research, "difficulty with breathing or swallowing" as well as "pain in the arm or leg" are both listed as possible side effects from taking Xarelto. Although arm pain itself is reportedly a less common side effect, difficulty breath...

I have a lot of different illness and pain, I used to take tylonol ibuprofin etc, but started taking warfarin 5mg to thin blood and now they say i cannot take pain pills that also thin the blood. Q. what can I take for pain that will not interfere?? ## Hi Martha, From what I've read, Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen are two types of pain medications that do not thin the blood in and of themselves. So the OTC meds you were on prior to starting Warfarin are both fine in that regard. However, I would still recommend talking with your doctor first just to be on the safe side. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Warfarin Details Have you also considered looking into things like acupuncture or essential oils for additional pain relief? ## But I have a read that ibuprofen can mak...

This is the first time that this has happend since I had a stroke, caused by a fall and hitting my head, in April 2015. I have been diagnosed with A-fib for over 10 years and also take digoxin ( 0.125 mg ) and Plavix during that time prior to the stroke. what are my options for getting off of Eliquis? Right after my stroke, I was given warfarin and had no problems, only now after taking Eliquis have I developed this rash and itching. Any sugestions would be appreciated. Thanks. I have MS and lymphedema. My leg doctor put me on trental 400mg 3x/day then my neurologist put me on Ampyra. Do they both do the same thing... Dilate the blood vessels in the legs? I can't get a yes or no answer. ## Hello, Elaine! How are you? Trental improves blood flow, but Ampyra improves walking ability and speed, as reported by the FDA. Side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia and blurred vision. Have you had any improvement from taking them? ## Thank you for answering. Yes, it helps. My father started on Xarelto this past week for Afib and within 2 days gradually started developing bilateral thigh, groin and buttock burning/pain progressing to inability to walk 2 additional days later and severe pain. He is normally a very active person. Has anyone experienced this? ## Hello, Greg! How is your father doing? Has there been any change? The FDA does list those types of symptoms as being possible side effects. He may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Side effects are typically transient and go away with time, once your body gets used to a medication, however, given the severity, I think his doctor should be informed as this may not be the right medication for him. I had 2 stents on February 3,2016. My bruising was so bad that just all I had to do was lay my arm down too hard to get another one. I started waking up to what looked like blood blisters under my skin. After researching a lot, I decided to take myself off Effient and continue with aspirin only after almost 4 months. So far, no problems and I feel much better. Off for 6 weeks now. Has anybody else stopped early??? ## Hello, Ruby! How are you? Wow! I can understand why you stopped taking it. However, since you did have 2 stents placed, it would be best to consult your doctor about taking a different medication for the rest of the time you need to take one to help make sure you stay out of danger. You are not the only one that has had such issues, though. The FDA warns that most of these ...

2 months ago my doctor prescribed Pradaxa because I have Dvt. I have other health issues therefore I take quite a few meds. After 1 month on Pradaxa, I said to the doc, there are 2 things a woman doesn't want to happen, 1-gain weight and 2- lose your hair. My genius doc said, hair loss is not a side effect. Told him I don't know where ha gets his info. I took it upon myself to stop Pradaxa. I have been off for 1 week & my hair keeps falling out. Anybody know when the hair loss stops and will your hair come back. To add insult to injury I began to gain weight. I am quite crippled due to severe arthritis in my hips so I don't want to carry any extra weight on my hips. Any ideas when that hunger eases up. Thanks. ## Hello, Dee Dee! How are you? Other side effects may include dizziness, headache and nausea. Does you doctor think it caused this to happen to you? ## Yes, he thinks that's a strong possibility. In general blood thinners just seem dangerous to me. I had a PE six months ago and was on Xarelto for the duration of six months recommended by my doctor. She stated the treatment would be about six months. Well after going in yesterday for a follow-up my clots are gone with a little bit of scar tissue but my d-dimer test was a little low and she wants me to continue on thinners. I have taken myself off of them for two weeks now because I just did not enjoy the effects. Xarelto caused me a lot of excessive bleeding during my monthly cycle, I became dizzy, and my stomach bloated up something strange. I felt like I aged in a matter of six months losing a lot of my hair and skin just looks bad and old. Before this happened I did not look like that. I also lost most of my hair during the si...

This has been going on for months. ## Hello, Linda! How are you and your mother?
