I am on Eliquis as a treatment for a DVT in my right leg I incurred 10 days ago. I took 2 pills twice a day as prescribed for 7 days and have taken 1 pill twice a day (5 mg) for 2 days but am feeling woozy and somewhat dizzy about 2 hours after taking the recommended dosage. Can I reduce the dosage to 1 5mg pill a day instead of 2 pills a day? The swelling and pain in my leg has decreased considerably. I'm wearing a leg calf stocking which helps. Mike B (age 67, 200 lbs) ## You should take the dosage that your doctor has instructed you to take, unless they advise otherwise. This medication can cause dizziness as a side effect, according to the FDA, you may also experience nausea, headache, and easy bruising. They are typically transient and should go away, once your body gets used t...

When will a generic form of Xarelto be on the market, since the name brand is so expensive? ## There will be, but not for several years, due to proprietary drug laws that grant the exclusive name brand patent for a certain period of time. If it is too expensive for you, you could ask your doctor about prescribing a cheaper alternative. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and easy bruising. Are you on any other medications?

I've been taking xarelto since January. I saw a new doctor and he took me off of it. Will I have any side effects from stopping it? ## Hello, Michelle! How are you? Did you experience any adverse events? It is always best to follow your doctor's instructions for starting, or stopping a medication. This one can sometimes cause some rebound blood thickening, or clotting, according to the FDA, but if the doctor felt it safe for you to stop, then you should do as they've advised. Are you on any other medications? Did they doctor replace it with anything else?

I was released from the hospital (due to DVT) after 2 days. I am now home for the past 3 days and I still have swelling from foot to knee. Do you think if I iced it for swelling would that help? It is very uncomfortable to walk around the house. ## After my last post I had a follow up with my pri. doctor who advised me to wear a compression stocking and continue with 2.5 Eliquis twice a day and take a Tylenol once a day. The swelling will take a while since I am 87 years old. My blood test reads normal. ## Hi Dusty, I'm glad your labs were normal and followed up with your pcp. These things take some time to achieve complete relief. Compression garments and elevation will assist you greatly. I know how uncomfortable it is to get around with swelling like that. Best wishes.

Perhaps one month after starting Xarelto, 20mg, I had developed a sore neck and knot in the mid knuckle of my right hand. Within 60 days I have trouble walking, a severe pain right hip, right knee, left foot. and random pains elsewhere. I take it because of Afib, now controlled by pacemaker and an ablation. How do I get off this stuff? ## I've been taking xarelto for about a month from a dvt in my right leg , I also have developed a pain the left side of my neck... It's really bad it feels like I slept wrong but has not went away for a week now.. Just trying to figure out if it's the blood thinner? So worried ## Yes, this medication has been known to cause these types of issues as side effects, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increa...

After a planned angioplasty of LAD (95%block) a stable patient(no sugar, no BP, Tot.Cholestrol153,but HDL 30, LDL 96 who showed effort anjina. How to reduce the current dosage of Plavix 75 twice, Rozat40 1 daily, and Ecospirin 150 after 1 month? Is Ecospirin, Rozat combination overuse of medicine? ## The medication dosages should not be lowered, unless the patient's doctor instructs them to lower them, or stop one. This is not overuse of medications, multiples are normally prescribed to treat such conditions. A 95% block is very dangerous. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and joint/muscle aches. Is there anything else I can help with?

Have been taking this for a couple of weeks after inr levels failed to fall within requirement following PE post surgery. I'm noticing a mild headache, is this a "normal" side effect? Not excruciating, vision not affected, not dizzy. Thank you! ## Yes, headaches can be a normal side effect of this medication, as reported the U.S. FDA. You may also experience nausea, increased risk of bleeding, and easy bruising. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been on Xarelto for 4 years. Now suffering from a testosterone deficiency. I have read that one should not mix warfarin with Primoteston depot but can't find any guidance about Xarelto. Will these two meds have a negative interaction? ## Hey. Is anybody out there? Lol I would sincerely appreciate an answer as the testosterone issue is leaving me tired all the time even though I am in otherwise very good health. I am also in a foreign country where communication is quite difficult for me.

Hi all, I have been taking Rivaroxaban (UK name for Xarelto) since November 2015 and I have a number of issues, most of which have been mentioned on here already, like joint pain and fatigue but on thing I don't see anyone else mention is having seriously vivid dreams, to the point where I wake up in a sweat and breathing rapidly with a fast heart rate too. Some dreams are quite violent or a bit gory, like I was being chased by Russians (FFS)! A few nights ago I dreamt I was picking hard skin off my feet, but the whole of the sole of my foot came away leaving raw red flesh! I cannot be alone, surely??? ## This medication has been known to cause sleep disorders and almost any medication risks causing vivid dreaming, so it's not really unusual. Other side effects, as listed by the...

I am due to have image guided injections for nerve entrapment pain in my neck and shoulders. I have been on xarelto for 8 months. Can I stay off the xarelto for 3 days to have the inj's.? I've been told by my haematologist that I have to take xarelto for life now. ## Hello, Patrick! How are you doing? Have you been instructed to stop it for a few days? If so, that is what you should do, for your own safety. Then resume taking it, after the study is done. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and easy bruising. ## I had to inject innohep into my stomach for 2 days prior to my image guided injections in my neck. I then had to inject a smaller dose of innohep the evening following the procedure bef...

Is it safe to have Botox injections while on Xyralto? Has anyone had any experience with Botox while taking Xyralto? ## Since Xarelto can increase your risk of dangerous bleeding, it is very doubtful if it is safe for you to have such a procedure. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may also include nausea, dizziness, headache, and easy bruising. It would be best to speak to your doctor, because before having procedures like this, you will most likely need to stop taking it for a few days. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I received Botox a couple weeks ago with no problem whatsoever. Not even a needlestick bruise

Hi there, I am a 40 year old woman, recently had cramps in my left calf and shortness of breath. Went to the physician and was hospitalized for blood clots having run from my calf to my lungs. I am on Warfarin, but my doctor recommended Xarelto for the next three months. I have read so many reviews and came across legal cases against the company as there is no antidote. I'm so scared, should I continue with Warfarin then? ## Hello, Yusra! How are you? It's up to you, really. Though some people have had trouble with Xarelto, many have taken it without a problem. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising, so very similar to Warfarin. Can anyone that's taken Xarelto chime in with t...

Does anyone have severe sweating while on xarelto. I have to sit by a fan and turn it in and off every few minutes All day and all night. IS this normal? ## Hello, Shari! How are you? It could be due to the Xarelto, according to the FDA, it has been known to cause fevers, and etc. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, and easy bruising. Are you on any other medications? How old are you? ## Hi, am 57 years old. I have been on lovenox shots for 5 years. I just changed to xarelto. I'm on week 4 of Eliquis for DVT. Over the past 2 weeks I notice when I get up in the morning I am stiff in the joints, legs hurt. I get dizzy to where I see black. I have had 2 migraines and lost balance on numerous occasions. And I fall asleep at the drop of a hat. Is this related to Eliquis? ## Hello, Karen! How are you doing? Yes, the FDA does list those as being possible side effects of this medication and you are not the first person to post about experiencing them. You may also experience easy bruising and stomach pain. Given the loss of balance and severe dizziness, it would be best to speak to your doctor as you may need to try a different medication. Are you on any other medications?

Since taking eliquis I have had terrible soreness in both my arms just in moving them is very painful. I'm going to ask the doctor to take me off this drug besides being tired all day. ## Hello, Laura! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're experiencing. I have been taking 20mg of Xarelto for around 1 and a half years after a case of DVT/PE. This is given via a prescription from my GP. I was one of the guinea pigs for this drug and is not sure that my GP is taking me seriously regarding the extreme pain that I experience on a daily basis. The pain and swelling is so bad that I can hardly walk some days. I am convinced that this is due to the Xarelto. My GP is of the opinion that my weight is the culprit and after evaluations at the hospital is saying that I have arthritis. I want to stop this drug but am fearful that they will not. Looking back, all my symptoms started shortly after starting this new wonder drug. Some days I feel so bad that I feel as though I'm dying slowly on this medication. Also I am concerned as no one is monit...

Help with bleeding on eliquis. Dr. wants my husband to go 2.5 mg instead of 5mg. Not happy with answer to his bleeding. ## Hello, Judy! How are you and your husband? Has there been any change? Unfortunately, a dosage adjustment is the way bleeding is usually dealt with, according to the NIH. Other side effects, as reported by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, headache, and easy bruising. How bad is he bleeding and what has caused the bleeding?
