I am experiencing lower back pain since starting this drug, similar to period pain. No longer menstruate so it can't be that. ## Lercanidipine is a calcium channel blocker and yes, this class of medications has been known to cause back pain, joint pain, headache, hypotension, increased urination, and dehydration in some people that take it. I have been taking 200 mg. a day for about 4 years. I thought it was a coincidence that I've lost 50% of my hair during this time because I am also going through menopause. I just found out that it is possible the hair loss is caused by metoprolol, so my doctor just wrote me a RX for a different drug. Will my hair grow back? It was very long, down to my waist, but I've been cutting it to compensate for the thinness. I just touch my head and lose a few hairs! Presently I am taking Hydralazine, Carvedilol, and Hydroxychloroquine. I usually take my new dose at the same time every morning. I am on 150 mg of Irbesartan daily. What time frame should be allotted to wean off this regimen? I wish to discontinue it. ## Why do you want to wean off of it? What condition is being treated? If the medication is the only thing keep the given condition under control, you could be putting your life in danger by discontinuing it according to NIH warnings. It could cause you to experience rebound high blood pressure, and rebound high heart rate, which could result in a heart attack, or stroke, either of which has the potential to be fatal. I have been taking Lisinopril 20 mg from manufacturer Lupin for years. My most recent renewal was the same color and Lupin on one side and 20 on other but the pill is half the size of the one I have been getting. Still says Lupin but I am concerned. I have a recent prescription for metoprolol. To get me started, the nurse gave me some she had in stock that had M 18 on it. The prescription I received in the mail has C 73 on it. I've seen descriptions for each which seem different to me but both are described as metoprolol. Are these really the same prescription drugs with the same active chemical analysis? ## Hi, Lee! They are both a yellow and white pill used to be Orangish and white? ## Amlodipine Benazepril is actually 2 medications, it's a generic for Lotrel. It combines the calcium channel blocker Amlodipine with the ACE inhibitor Benazepril to better control hypertension and certain cardiac conditions. The Amlodipine Besylate is just Amlodipine by itself. I am taking olmesartan + metoprolol 50 in the morning and amlodipine + hydrochlorthiazide 5/12.5 in the evening. Despite that, whenever I eat a high sodium diet my bp becomes very high (170/90). I was advised to take met xl t (telmisarta) instead as olmesartan causes me side effects. Please advise. ## Well, it would seem that you are sodium sensitive and are always going to have to watch your sodium intake, according to NIH studies. As to the medications, Met Xl contains a time released formulation of Metoprolol, not Telmisartan. Had been taking metoprolol xl 25 mg once daily for irregular heart beat for years without issue. Due to recent heart palpitations my dr prescribed metoprolol tartrate 50 mg twice daily. Due to a gluten sensitivity I have had several adverse stomach pains nausea etc from several pharmaceutical companies and am reluctant to keep trying different pharmaceutical companies.
