Just found out that I am pregnant and I've been taking losartan. My pharmacist said to stop taking it immediately because of risks!!! Will everything be ok? I'm estimating I'm about 4-6 weeks pregnant, but I don't go in for an ultrasound for 2 more weeks! ## You should speak to your PCP about switching to a different medication. Labetalol is one that is considered safe to take during pregnancy, but the final decision is between you and your doctor. But it's something you can ask them about. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Congratulations on the baby! Are you on any other medications?

My grandson is 12 and he was given 0.2 mg of clonidine twice by accident. Will he be ok or should i be worried? What is it for? ## Hello, Kim! How is he doing? Did he experience any problems? In most healthy individuals, this occurring just once would not be a problem, unless they are allergic to the given medication, but the NIH warns that they may experience more severe side effects than usual, which may include nausea, dizziness, headache, and insomnia.

Hello, a few days ago I went to the ER because my BP was extremely high, 208/110. I believe this because I have gained about 30 lbs and have not been eating very healthy lately. I am 39 years old and I was not currently on any blood pressure medication but I have been in the past. I was off about a year. The ER was able to get my BP down and the Dr. gave me a prescription for Lisinopril HCTz 20/12.5 I have been on this in the past but a lower dosage. I have only been on this meds for 2 days and it does lower my BP but it is too low. This morning it was 108/77. I feel very weak with no energy, sleepy, and somewhat depressed. I am worried it is lowering my blood pressure too much and I'm scared I will have hypotension. Can I stop taking this med since it's only been a couple of da...

I was going to take an ibuprofen and accidentally took one of my mother's Losartan 25mg tablets. Will I be ok? ## It is always best to check with a medical professional, but just one instance will not likely result in any adverse effects. The FDA warns that it could cause nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. How are you doing? Did you experience any adverse effects?

I am currently taking Lisinopril 10MG and my arthritis has really been acting up. I use to take Meloxicam 15mg but doing some reading it suggests the two are not good to take in combination... Any suggestions? Been taking Ibuprofen 800 but this is just a temp fix as the pain is still in my knees and feet. ## Hi fazer, Sorry to hear about your challenges with arthritis. I also looked up the drug interaction you're referring to between Lisinopril + Meloxicam and would agree that unless you're under frequent medical supervision, it's probably wise to not risk it. The University of Maryland Medical Center (drug interaction tool / umm.edu) describes this drug combination as causing blood pressure or kidney problems. On the other hand, they also go on to state that, "If you ar...

I preparing my medication weekly, means my Dr. prescribe 25MG twice daily, my insurance don't want pay for 25MG, they paying for 50MG and asking me to cut for half, my question is, after few days or few weeks the metoprolol still is good or lost already the strength because was cut for half. ## No, it will still be fine. As long as a medication isn't time released, cutting it will not cause any change to its efficacy. My cardiologist prescribes my heart medication, (Losartan) like this to save me added expense, then I cut or break them to take twice daily. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Metoprolol as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. In many cases, your pharmacy can even make sure to fill your prescription with table...

Can I cut a 40 mg tablet of lisinopril in half in order to take two 20 mg instead? ## It is safe to do this with any medication that is not time released. Is there some reason, however, that you need to take a lower dosage? Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor that is used to treat high blood pressure and other cardiac conditions. If you have one of these conditions, it is very important that you take the proper dosage to keep them under control, so you shouldn't make any medication dosage adjustments, without checking with your doctor. In addition, if you have been taking 40mgs and suddenly lower the dosage to 20mgs, you need to be aware that there will be rebound effects, which can include elevated blood pressure and elevated heart rate. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Can I ...

I had high BP for several months and tried all combinations without success. I had a bad reaction to Beta Blockers and Calcium blockers. My BP became normal (120/80) just a few days after I started taking Losartan/HCTZ. It was magical for about a month but starting this Monday my BP jumped to 156/98; then for last two days in the morning 145/86 and in the evening 130/92. What could cause this sudden rise? What can I do to get back to 120/80? ## Your blood pressure will never reach 120/80 and stay there, it is always going to fluctuate depending on the time of day you are checking, when you've taken your medications, what you've eaten, activity levels and etc. Why are you checking it so frequently? The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, he...

I took one pill and an hour later took another one.... What do i need to do? Will it hurt me? ## While it is always best to check with a medical professional, according to most FDA reports, doubling up just once is usually not dangerous, unless someone is allergic/sensitive to a medication. But it may cause you to experience more severe side effects than usual, which could include nausea, dizziness, headache, and increase urination. How are you doing? Did you experience any adverse effects?

I take hydralazine, Htcz (hydrochlorothiazide), lisinopril and amlodipine. I have no energy what so ever when I try to work outside like in the garden. My blood pressure drops really low to where I almost black out. Any reason why this is happening? ## All of these medications can lower blood pressure, as well as treat certain cardiac conditions, according to FDA approved uses, and if you are working in the garden while it's warm, or hot out, that can also lower your blood pressure. Thus, it may be dropping too low during such activity. There is also a risk that you are dehydrated. Activity also lowers your blood pressure, so you may need a dosage adjustment. Have you spoken to your doctor about it? Where do you live and what have your recent temperatures been like? I know some days...

Can I stop Amlodipine while I also take Metoprolol and Lisinopril? The Amlodipine makes me feel cold and shivering quite often. Thank you. ## Doctor prescribed lisinopril and metoprolol to me and I didn't like how the lisinopril made me feel so I stoped taking it, can that make me sick, I've only been taking the metoprolo ## Amir, are you sure those side effects are due to the Amlodipine? The others can also cause such symptoms, according to NIH reports, they could also be completely unrelated to any of the medications. Sam, I'm sorry, but your complete sentence did not post. How was it making you feel? The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.

Have had high Bp for 6 years, been on Maxzide 37.5 and has been controlled. Now I have ideal or low blood pressure out of nowhere. On call Dr says not to take Bp med so i didn't. Still low or ideal. What could cause BP to be low suddenly? Constant headache too. ## Are you on any other medications? Are you dehydrated? Both are possible issues that could cause it to be low, according to FDA reports. What are your current readings? How low is it? The headache is a bit concerning. There are so many issues that can cause that. ## I found it was the Ativan that I was put on for anxiety was causing really low BP, 90/60. I stopped the Ativan. I'm gonna try a natural anxiety med. Hoping it works..

I've been on 120mg of verapamil for about 3 months. I take it for vestibular migraines. My neurologist doubled my dose to 240mg last week to see if it would help with persistent dizziness. I've had zero problems on the 120mg. I thought I was doing ok on the increased dose, but started running a low grade fever (99.5-100.9). I really have no other symptoms. The fever is persistent and will drop down for maybe an hour or two with anti-pyretics. Then it pops right back up. It's very weird, and I've never experienced anything like this before. I dropped my dose 3 days ago back to 120mg to see if the fever would break - no luck. It's been over a week now and I have developed a slightly productive cough in the last couple of days. I'm waiting to hear from my neurologis...
