I recently started taking two tramadol 50 mg for severe joint pain due to RA. At the same time, my blood pressure was high (226/108) so i took 25 mg metoprolol and 25 mg losartan. Will my blood pressure drop too quickly? ## Hello, Irene! How are you? Has there been any change? These medications will not work to instantly lower blood pressure. They must be taken consistently over a period of time to have their full beneficial effect in your body, they cannot only be taken on an as needed basis. With readings that high, you could be in danger and should see your doctor for assistance, or if you've been instructed to take these medications regularly, you should start doing so. The FDA lists their typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urinatio...

My Dr. told me I can just quit the metoprolol, my heart rate sometimes dips into low 40's for a few seconds at night when sleeping. I was put on this years ago for Anxiety, not for any condition... On Oct 16th 2016 I got my normal Metformin 90 day supply. I was feeling (over the next 2 months) like an elephant was on my chest & couldn't walk more than 15-to 20 ft without feeling as though I was going to black out. On Dec. 30th eve I noticed my dose was scored, not Metformin. That's when I caught it! Never had High Blood Pressure & am 54. I normally fill 2 weeks at a time (pill containers) & nightly a week. I take 2 in the a.m. & 2 at night. So they were mixed in & not knowing what or how many - all unknown. But when I caught it, it was 2 Metoprolol 100 ER! So looking at the rest of that week & 2 nights, 2 to 3 out of 4 mornings, I had 1 with Metformin. The next a.m dose #31 I almost took 2 more Metoprolol 100 mg Er! I am totally disgusted! Can I still take the vigara ## Hello, BobbyB! How are you? What are your blood pressure readings with the Chlorthalidone? The Viagra can also lower it, so it's really going to depend on that. Did you ask your doctor about it? The Chlorthalidone is a diuretic that removes excess fluid from the body, so you will most likely experience increased urination and possibly dehydration. ## Hi any guys tried the female vigara the pink pill. I've been prescribed lisinopril 10mg for hypertension but I'm reluctant to start taking it. I've read the side effects and lots of things are worrying me. Will I become too hypotensive after the first dose? Will I still wake up the next morning? Will I constantly experience dizziness? Can I drink alcohol? Will I end up with kidney failure? Will I develop a cough? Are there alternatives? ## There are risks to taking any medication, however, it is a much greater risk to let your hypertension continue uncontrolled, because it is guaranteed to cause serious health problems and possibly death. Lisinopril works well for many people, with no serious side effects and there are always others, like myself, that are sensitive to it and experience bad side effects and must switch to som...

It depends on which medication you are taking. He may be taking 10mgs, but if it's a different one that yours, the 2.5 could be equivalent to it. On my prescription for Losartan/HCTZ 100-25mg last month the pill was teardrop shaped and yellow. I just had it refilled and the pill is rectangular, white, and has ZD 19 stamped on it. I think the pharmacy made a mistake. I have not taken them. Please advise!!! ## No, they haven't made a mistake, this tablet also contains 100mgs of Losartan and 25mgs of Hydrochlorothiazide, which are commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. It is common for a pharmacy to switch, depending on whatever company is offering the cheapest price, at the time they have to restock their supply. It's how they keep their prices as low as possible, for their customers that don't have insurance. Since this is a generic medication, it is manufactured by several different...

I was switched from toprol XL 25 mg once a day to lopressor 25 mg 2x aday. The nurse said it was the same because one is extended release ad the other is not ## Hi Koolau, Based on my research, the nurse was right in saying that they are the same medication and that Toprol XL is simply an extended-release version of Lopressor. Because of this however, there may be a slight variation of inactive ingredients which can actually be detrimental to how the drug is metabolized and used by your body. I'd just be aware of this factor if for some reason you don't get the same relief or effects that you may have had from the Toprol XL. When you switch brand names or manufacturers, the drug itself doesn't change, but rather the binders or fillers that they put with it. I hope this helps...

What kind of cold medicine is okay to take with the blood pressure medicine losartan? ## @Sunshine, For liability reasons, I think it's generally best to discuss this with your prescribing doctor or pharmacist. However you can always look up potential drug interactions via the University of Maryland Medical Center at: umm.edu/health/medical/drug-interaction-tool That webpage allows you to plug in specific drug names for an evaluation of their combined pharmacology and what/if any risk factors (or side effects) may be expected in certain scenarios. Sorry I couldn't give you more specific details, but if you have a medication in mind you can simply plug it into that drug interaction tool... Nevertheless, I'd still encourage you to double check with your medical provider(s) jus...
