My mom in law is 98 and she takes losartan/hctz, she didn't realize it's for bp she thot it was water only and she takes it every other day. What complications could she have she's afraid to take it everyday because she has to urinate more often. ## Hello, Ruthi! How is she doing? I would suggest speaking to her doctor. She can get the Losartan without the Hydrochlorothiazide and just switch to it, or take it on the alternating days to get better control of her blood pressure. Along with more frequent urination, she may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Take her to a urologist. I also had frequent urination and then they switched me to long acting meds which I thought helped, however after seeing a urologi...

I take 12.5 mg she said to stop since my blood pressure is very low, and I am dehydrated all the time. I drink a lot of water everyday. Is this dangerous? She said to take my blood pressure every day and if it goes up to call her. She said to try this for 3 months. ## It is always best to follow your doctor's instructions, so if they told you to stop taking it, that would be the best thing to do, and just monitor your blood pressure, afterwards. Along with dehydration, the FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination. How are you doing? Has there been any change? ## Your doctor probably wanted you to stop taking this because it can cause low blood pressure. It's a diuretic which allows your body to get rid of flu...

I have been taking Chlorthalid for awhile, but today when I get a refill, it was listed as Chlorthalidone. Are these one and the same - exactly? ## Yes, the old label was just abbreviating it. Chlorthalidone is a diuretic that's used to remove excess fluid from the body to treat high blood pressure, certain cardiac conditions and edema. Learn more Chlorthalidone details here. Is that what you are supposed to be taking? I just want to make sure. ## No they are not exactly always the same they are different label names for a reason don't believe everything from this article, ALWAYS ask YOUR OWN DOCTOR and pharmacist before having them fill your prescription

Is hydralazine gluten free? ## Hydralazine is actually a generic medication, so it's manufactured by several different companies, which means that I can't check if the one you have is gluten free, without knowing who the manufacturer is of your tablets. Do you know who the manufacturer is? Or can you post back with the markings on them? ## I have the Camber brand. Is it gluten free? ## Hydralazine from Camber comes in 4 doses: 10 mg (NDC 31722-519), 25 mg (NDC 31722-520), 50 mg (NDC 31722-521), and 100 mg (NDC 31722-522). Since taking Bisoprolol 2.5mg my weight has increased. Is there an alternative tablet that can be taken to eliminate the weight gain but still be as effective to my recovery? ## Hello Jacqui! How are you? Unfortunately, possible weight gain is a side effect of virtually all blood pressure and cardiac medications. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, increased urination and hypotension. How much have you gained? What condition is being treated? ## This site has really helped me understand weight gain and Bisoprolol (plus ramipril)... Does anyone have a diet that helps counteract the weight gain? I have been on 0.1 clonidine now for several years. Recently i have been getting very high spikes. My doctor increased me. I was taking 0.1 twice a day. I now take 0.4 split up into 3 times a day. I am now experiencing very loud ringing in the ears / hissing sounds with a numbness feeling in my head. At times it is so bad it debilitates me to where i cannot do anything. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? It is driving me crazy and cannot function like this! ## Jewels -- I started taking Clonidine 0.1 mg three months ago for occasional blood pressure spike to 160/105 (I believe I have panic attack or anxiety disorder). I read and came to know that in some patients the use of Ramipril actually increases the blood pressure due to some specific action of kidney emissions (only a minority of the patients), as it is in my case. Can somebody clarify? ## No, it actually causes the opposite effect, in a small percentage of patients that have some impairment to renal function, it can cause them to absorb too much of the medication and suffer from low blood pressure (hypotension). In these cases, they have to use a much lower dosage and their BP must be regularly monitored to make sure it isn't dropping too low. This is a common issue with most blood pressure medications. ## I am 63 years old. I take Ramistar 5mg in the morning and2.5 mg in the night. I took 20 mg Lisinopril a second time instead of 50 mg Atenolol. Supposed to take the Lisinopril once daily and the Atenolol twice. Am I okay? ## If you are concerned then you should call poison control at (800) 222-1222. From what I was reading, the biggest risk would be your blood pressure dropping too low (hypotension). However, taking only one additional dose may not cause that for you. Here is a pdf with more information: ACE Inhibitor Overdoses I hope this helps and please report back with your outcome.

I've taken 10mg Lisinopril with success for 9 days. Lowered my BP from 140s/90s to low 100s/low 70s. But on days 6-9 my BP was going down to 98/65 different times of the day, with some slight lightheadedness, no coughing. I was worried it would keep trending lower, especially while sleeping, and cause more dizziness. So my Dr gave me a 5mg RX. One day on that dose and I already noticed my BP going higher (High 130/high 80, low 90s). Now that I know I get better readings with 10mg I want to switch back. So my question is, is it ok that I went one day with 5mg and will go back to 10mg the next day? I was going to take another 5mg 12 hrs after my first dose but wasn't sure if that was ok? ## It really takes about 4 to 5 weeks, at one steady dosage, for Lisinopril to reach its full ...

I took Perindopril for around 5 months until about 6 weeks ago when I began to feel really ill. ( I already have vit D deficiency and I take fultium for this) . I think I started with a cough and high urine output soon after I'd started taking Perendopril. So, after stopping the Perindopril 6 weeks ago I still can't stop the urge to urinate or the coughing. And I cannot pick up from feeling ill and tired with aching bones and muscles (as well as the aching bones and muscles from the vit D). How long does it take to get over Perindopril as, even though I'm 77 years, I was really active and vibrant before the Perindopril. It's lethal. Thanks for listening. ## Hello, Nora! I have been taking Zartan 50 for a few months for high blood pressure. I have also been taking half a Serrapress 20 in the morning for anxiety. I then had a spate of very high blood pressure at 170/115. My dr prescribed half an Urbanol in the morning and half at night. My blood pressure is now as low as 125/66. I stopped the Urbanol two days ago but my blood pressure is still low. Should I still be taking Zartan?

I have just been prescribed Lercanidipine and Candesartan for my BP and was told not to take Ramapril anymore because of a cough I have had for about 3 months reading the side effects on both of these medicines it says a cough is likely is this true as I want to get rid of my cough and not prolong it. I have had a CT scan and the hospital have put it down to the Ramapril I was taking. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. ## The Ramipril cough is dreadful.
