I take 100 mg losartan a day along with 10mg amlodipine. I have really bad aches and pains in all my joints and muscles. Is losartan to blame as I did not have it before? ## It is not a statin drug, but it can cause those types of side effects in some people that take it. The NIH lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination. The increased urination could also cause it, if you are becoming dehydrated. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? ## I get dizziness and almost unbearable foot pain. Lercanidipine is a calcium channel blocker and you should consult your doctor, because in some people it can cause peripheral edema, which could explain the symptoms you are experiencing. It could also be due to bad side effects of the medication, or dehydration, since almost all of these medications can increase urinary output. Have you been making sure to take in the proper amount of liquids each day? ## Go to you doctor and tell him you dont want to use that drug anymore my experience was over 4.5 yrs I discovered it was the cause of terrible leg aches and more and stopped co...

I was checking both medication shown above and notice that they are both for high blood pressure, is it possible that my symptom of dizziness are caused by combining both? ## Hi Gerry, Are you referring to Ramipril and Metoprolol? Based on my research there are no drug interactions found between Ramipril and Metoprolol. This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist, but my sources state that every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is accurate. The only interaction that exists with these medications is with food- For Metoprolol, food can enhance the levels of teh drug in your body. You should take metoprolol at the same time each day, preferably with or immediately following meals. Doing so should make it easier for your body to absorb the medication. Al...
Are Amlodipine Amlovasc the same as Amlodipine besylate? ## Yes, Amlovasc is just a brand name for Amlodipine, so Amlodipine is the generic and is usually cheaper to purchase. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I live in South Africa and do not know if this will be of any help. I use Amloc, 5mg. Amloc is amlodipine maleate, which does not cause any swelling. Previously I was on amlodipine besylate which caused me to swell up like I was trying to outdo an elephant. My neighbor experienced the same - besylate causes swelling, maleate does not. Both are amlodipine, only different components of it.

Is it common to gain weight when you're on Co-Pritor? I have picked up 10 kg's since I started with the High blood medication. Your advice and help would be appreciated. ## Co-Pritor contains the active ingredients Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide. From what I've read on each of those individual medications, neither of them list weight gain as a possible side effect. Interestingly enough, "loss of appetite" is listed as a side effect of Hydrochlorothiazide. And from my understanding of nutrition, when you eat a lot less than you're used to having (or not eating every few hours), your metabolism can slow down significantly in response to that. Especially if you're not getting enough exercise on a regular basis either. Have you made any dietary changes or no...
