Can these medications be taken together: Atenolol, Amlodipine, Ciprofloxacin and Acetaminophen? ## Have they all been prescribed for you by your doctor? If so, it is always best to follow their instructions. However, the FDA does warn that taking the Atenolol and Amlodipine together may result in more lowering of your blood pressure and heart rate than expected.

Been on this med for quite a while (3+ yrs) for physical symptoms of anxiety. Since day one it still hits me like a ton of bricks and causes severe drowsiness about an hour after taking it. When taken at bedtime it will put me out no problem. BUT, after 3-4 hours, I wake up and have trouble sleeping for the rest of the night. Wondering if anyone else has this similar problem with waking up after a few hours of sleep. It's guaranteed to K.O. me but then wake me right back up after a little while. ## Although Clonidine's side effects do not list insomnia as a possible side effect, there are certainly more than a handful of adverse reactions that could inevitably cause insomnia. This drug may cause lightheadedness, dry mouth, tiredness, weakness, headache, nervousness, decreased se...

8/17/17 I've been taking 25mg of Atenolol 3xday for Afib, I have it often, have a pacemaker and on pradaxa (blood thinner). Apparently Atenolol is back-ordered all over the country. My cardiologist prescribed Metoprolol, only 25mg 1xday. I'm switching tomorrow and I'm concerned with enough dosage from Metoprolol. I have googled, can't locate equivalent dosage, can you help? ## It is generally better to follow your doctor's instructions as to what dosage you should take. Since these are in the same medication class, the doses are also sometimes the same. The FDA warns that the side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Have you started taking it, yet? If so, how are you doing?

Earlier my blood pressure was 140/110 average. I'm being treated with Bisopol 5mg + Telmisartan 40mg. Now my blood pressure is averaging 115/75. Is this normal or do i need to reduce my dosage? What should i do? ## Those are not levels that are usually considered dangerous, but are you experiencing any symptoms, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, or fainting? Generally, whether or not you experience such issues are the deciding factor as to what levels are too low for any given person, according to NIH studies. I also am taking losartan 100 mg, and for about a month having side effects. Walgreen's always gave me the round pill, but now it's the long oval with13 on it. Why the change? What can I do about it. The pharmacist said they dispense whatever comes in. Are they from different pharmaceutical companies? They can't give me a straight answer! ## Hello, Virginia! How are you? Yes, this tablet is manufactured by Virtus Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 100mgs of Losartan, so it is just manufactured by a different company. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Can I take two 25 mg tablets instead of one 50 mg? My doc has me on 50 mg once daily, but I'm waiting on my mail order Rx and still have 25's that haven't expired yet. Maybe 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening until my 50's arrive? ## Yes, you can do that, it would be the same as taking 50mgs. The FDA does warn that you may experience more side effects for a few weeks, which may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Are you on any other medications?

I took my pills tonight from my pill box and then found Atenalol on the carpet so I took it. I'm just worried that it may have fallen there when I was refilling my pill boxes. I'm hoping I just dropped it when I took them and took the one I was supposed to have taken. Would 2 doses hurt me? ## An occasional double dose isn't likely to hurt you, as long as you aren't allergic to it, according to FDA reports, but your blood pressure and heart rate may drop lower than normal, you may also experience more dizziness, and drowsiness, than usual. How are you doing? Did you experience any adverse effects?

2 years ago I was taking linsinopril, developed a dry cough. Doc. Said was allergy to ace inhibitors. Switched me to losartan. I have now developed a dry cough again. I was checked for allergies, took prilosec to see if it was acid reflux, no for each. Losartan has a side effect of dry cough also. The last dose of losartan I took was 48 hours ago, still have the cough. Is the losartan still in my system? ## I have been off the losartan for over a week but the cough continues. I guess my next idea is to see an ENT, maybe there is something there? ## It might take a little longer for the cough to go away, when I experienced it from Lisinopril, a few years ago, it took about 3 weeks for it to go away. According to FDA reports, it is not an allergy, just a side effect that some people exper...

I was prescribed .2mg of Clonidine twice a day to prevent withdrawl while tapering off of 100mcg/hr Fentanyl. I was not informed by my doc that I needed to taper off the Clonodine as well. Stopped taking when took last dose in bottle, & have been having horrible withdrawls from the Clonodine. Went to ER, & doc prescribed .1mg twice daily. Took first two doses & still very shaky, having horrible chills, & unable to sleep. How long will it take for this to calm down? ## Hello, Michelle! How long were you on the Clonidine? I have to wonder if these withdrawal symptoms aren't more due to withdrawing from the Fentanyl, rather than the Clonidine. Short term use of Clonidine shouldn't cause major withdrawal symptoms and the ones you've described are more typical of ...
