I think it is caused by the losartan as it is the only thing new. Could this be possible? ## Hello, Pete! How are you? It would be very odd for it to appear that long after starting it and extremely odd for it to be localized just around your mouth. What does the rash look like? Is it painful? Itchy? Blistering? The FDA lists the typical side effects of Losartan as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. ## I’m trying to find out if Losartan could possibly be the cause of my skin rash. Also, I’m wondering if it could be a side effect or allergic reaction from a medication? I just recently realized when I take my blood pressure m...
Is it safe to take Losartan and Lisinipril together..aslo Htz? I take Losartin and Lisinpril in the am and in the evening I take half of a Lisinipril. I am so confused! ## Hello, GrammyK! How are you? I'm sorry that you're confused. Once stabilized, the doses can be lowered or medications stopped, as needed. The FDA lists the typical side effects of these medications as including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, dehydration, stomach pain and hypotension. Has your doctor prescribed them to be taken this way? ## Is there a diuretic that doesn’t cause erectile dysfunction.
I am advised by doctor to take 80 mg telmisartan + 5mg amlodipine for hypertension. But due to unavailability of 80 mg telmisartan I was advised to take 40mg telmisartan+ 5 mg amlodipine morning and 40 mg telmisartan at evening. After taking split dose of telmisartan 40 mg morning and evening I am feeling strange and anxious and unable to sleep smoothly following two three days. What may be the problem?

On Carvedilol and was on Amlodipine for years. Blood pressure was increasing lately, so Dr changed Amlodipine to 10 mg. This caused flushing in face, ankles swelling, etc. Then took off Amlodipine completely and added Lisinopril. Have backache, nervousness, darkened urine, and dizzy on this. What is the safest blood pressure medicine to use? I’m sensitive to most medications... ## All blood pressure medication has side effects. What works for me may not work for you. There are so many of these meds it's really hit and miss till you find the right meds. I've been on about 8 different ones over the past 7 years and each of them has good and bad. Lisinopril I was on for 4 years, worked ok...good luck. ## Carl is correct, there is really no "safe" medication, they all ...

Then I took Micardis again one tablet and then reduce to one half for about one month and then stopped, after 12 days of stopping my reading increased slowly for five days and yesterday become 172/105, now I have some headache in both left brain and eye. What is the drug that can be used in case I am unable to find prexum plus ## Prexum contains the active ingredient Perindopril, it is an ACE inhibitor that is used to treat high blood pressure. While there are certainly a good number of other prescription alternatives to Prexum, there are even more natural alternatives that in my opinion can be just as or more effective than prescription medication if taken seriously. I personally had high blood pressure, but was able to control it by controlling my eating habits and exercising. What works for me may not work for everyone, but my initial advice is to look into natural ways such as: Low/no sodium foods to help reduce inflammation and water retention; supplementation of garlic, as well as calcium, magnesium, and potassium. Eating plenty o...
Are the ingredients in Diovan 160 mg and Losartan 100-25 mg comparable if I run out of one can I switch to other? ## Hi Elaine, As far as comparing these drugs, I think it's not wise to assume that they have similar properties, since everyone can react differently to one or the other, despite having an equivalent dosage. If you're used to taking one or the other and have your doctors permission, I'd say it's fine to switch off between the two. However, at the same time I wouldn't necessarily anticipate having the same relief or results from two entirely different medications. On a side note: Eating whole foods that have little to no sodium and which are high in potassium and magnesium are solid dietary options for lowering blood pressure. These foods primarily includ...

Been taking amlodipine 5mg for a week for high blood pressure. I'm feeling jittery, a bit spaced out, uneasy and vaguely unwell. My blood pressure and pulse are within normal ranges now. I'm 68. How long will (what I assume are) side effects take to go away? ## It may take about 4 to 5 weeks for them to go away, once your body gets used to the medication, according to NIH reports. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Are you on any other medications? Sometimes side effects can be more severe for seniors. ## Im taking atenolol 50 mg for 3 years now and planning to take amlodipine 5 mg..im afraid to take amlodipine..im afraid of the side effects. Can anyone help me? ## Ed, been on amlodipine for years now.As far as I can tell, ...
I just increased my valsartan from 48 mg to 80 mg and suddenly my stomach is much larger. Is anyone else experiencing this kind of weight gain? ## Bloating and fluid retention can be side effects of this medication, according to FDA reports. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and hypotension. How much have you gained? Are you on any other medications? How much larger is it? ## Yes I have experienced the same thing an I’ve been also feeling pains in my thighs . When I climb the stair or do some dusting I get out of breath an I never felt like that til I started taking these pills. I have to see my doc this month I want to stop taking these meds ## Valsartan sucks! I was on this and it was terrible.
I have a lot of Joint and ligament pain and it is consistent with when I started taking Coveram (5 months ago). Can Coveram contribute to these types of aches and soreness? I am 48 and otherwise quite fit. ## Hello, Tony! How are you? I am very sorry about the problem that you're having. And yes, these types of medications can sometimes cause those types of side effects in some people that take them. How long have you been taking it? Have you looked into trying a different medication? ## G'day Verwon. How are you? I have been taking Coveram since December (7 Months) and the pain is consistant with this timing. I have tried recently with a different type of BP Tablet but I had a Dizziness reaction so couldnt take it. What are my options. The pain and discomfort is starting to bec...
Since on beta blockers, atenolo or metaprolol my vision is blurry. Cannot concentrate, very frustrated. ## Hi Ashley, Sorry to hear about your situation. According to the US National Library of Medicine, both medications (Atenolol and Metoprolol) list "blurred vision" as one of their more common side effects. Ref: Atenolol Side Effects / Metoprolol Side Effects However if it doesn't seem to go away on its own, you may need to contact your doctor as soon as possible in order to find out if you should still continue taking them as prescribed or opt for something else altogether. Unfortunately when it comes to these types of medications there's really no way to know ahead of time how it'll end up affecting you in the long run. But I'd just encourage you to keep an o...
I am taking Lisinopril 20 along with 11 other medications. I had a major heart attack 6 years ago (but doing great now), have diabetes 2, and narcolepsy. I am really fighting the daytime sleepiness to the point that it is negatively affecting my life. I see where it can cause drowsiness, so I am trying to see if there is an alternative that does not cause drowsiness (I am doing this for all meds that have that warning as well) before I go to the doctor so I have something to present. Thank you for listening ## In your case, it is really hard to say what is causing the drowsiness, it may be one of your medications, or it could be your heart, your diabetes or just the narcolepsy. Thus, I am very glad to hear you'll be consulting your doctor. I am not sure what else you are on, but bei...
I have been on Losartan for about 6 months now and can't take it anymore. I am having pain in all of my joints and it now has moved to my sternum. My doctor can't believe it is from the medication, but surprise.....when I don't take it I feel fine. It usually takes a few weeks to get out of my system. I had to do the same thing with another HBP medicine before. Losing weight, eating right, and exercising is the only way to go. Don't keep financing the Pharmaceutical companies. ## Hello, Lesley! How are you feeling now? I'm sorry that the Losartan was making you miserable. It really sounds like you don't have a very understanding doctor. I have been there and didn't find any BP medications that I could take, without becoming miserable, until I found a doctor t...
Pharmacy has changed my RX from a capsule to tablet (with approval from Dr.) Dosage is the same 240 and both are XR. Pharmacy says they can't get capsules any more, only tablets. Since the change-over (about 2 -3 months ago) my blood pressure has been inching back up and now soldily back in the "high blood pressure" readings. Doctor has temporarily increased my dosage of lisinopril (I take both) but wants my primary care to do a complete work up. Has anyone else had problems with tablet form not working? (Capsule worked for at least 2 years or more the change is only since switch to tablet.) My symptoms with uncontrolled high blood pressure include severe headaches and double vision. It is my top number (systolic?) that is increasing from 80s range to avg 150 and up. (I am f...
my husband is taking both triamt/hctz and carvedilol but do not know if he should be on both or if one was prescribed to replace the other think the last one he got a prescription for was carvedilol---could this have been to replace the triamt/hctz ## Has he asked his doctor? The Carvedilol is in a different class of medications and it is very common for several to be prescribed, if someone's blood pressure or cardiac condition isn't quite under control with their existing medication regimen. Thus, it is hard for anyone else to know the answer and he does need to check with is doctor to be sure. ## Am on both medications most often both are prescribed when one is not efficient to bring down your blood pressure. Carvedilol is a beta and alpha blocker and triamterene HCTZ is a diu...
My mom is 81. She has been taking Losartan for about a year. I have lived with her the past months and am noticing a great increase in her memory and confusion. She can drive, balance her check book and pay her bills on time, but her short term memory is very poor. Has anyone else stopped taking Losartan because their dr felt it was causing these types of symptoms? ## No, Losartan has not been known to cause those types of symptoms. She is in her 80's and it can be normal for such changes to take place as part of the natural aging process. Is she on any other medications? Has she consulted her doctor? ## I have noticed the same thing even tho reports say that Losartan may prevent dementia. What’s up?
Expiration date of 07/2013 for Amlodipine Besylate: Is it still reasonable to use now in 3/2017 or is its usefulness too degraded? ## Does the FDA have a department that is concerned about pharmaceuticals that are being sold with expiration dates that have expired? ## A medication expiration date is required by the FDA to ensure that any given medication retains its full efficacy level for that length of time, under average storage conditions.... to translate that, it means after being dispensed in a normal pharmacy bottle and being exposed to the elements that cause degradation, such as heat, light, and moisture. After that time period the medication may begin to lose efficacy. If your pharmacy has given you a medication that has expired, you can contact the FDA by calling 1-888-463-63...
