My wife is 75 years - her blood pressure reads 211/97 with Pulse B&M of 60. What effect will Bilocor (Bisoprolol) 5 tablets have on the above pressure counts? She is using Amlodipine 5 tablets - 1 per day.
Updated in BisoprololI need to know the inactive ingredients because I'm allergic to talc. I had a reaction which is low blood pressure, dizziness, irregular heartbeat, and feeling very tired. Unable to walk. On a patient with heart failure. The did well with the aid of another water pill. ## The inactive ingredients for Zaroxolyn 2.5 mg are listed as: - Magnesium Stearate - Microcrystalline Cellulose - D&C Red No. 33 NDC: 53014-975 What you've reported sounds like some of the possible side effects of this drug according to DailyMed: dizziness/lightheadedness, drowsiness, fatigue, weakness. And just to confirm - you are taking the brand name and not a generic form, right?
What is not allowed while taking lisinopril; food, drugs or drinks. ## Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor, that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure. If you are being treated for high blood pressure, you should be informed to avoid food or beverage products that contain real licorice or licorice extract, since it can raise blood pressure. The only food/beverage interaction is that you should watch out for items that contain very high levels of potassium. Getting to much potassium, while taking Lisinopril can lead to Hyperkalemia, which can be a dangerous condition. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and stomach pain. Hydralazine is classified as a vasodilator that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, increased urination, headache and hypotension. It's generally life span is anywhere from 10 to 48 hours. Did you suffer adverse effects from it? ## I took this med and experienced redness in my face. Do not use this medicine. It should be banned. I took it for three years. It almost shut my system down. How long does it take to get out of my system? ## Spirinoloctone and endenoprone. Terrible drugs. Spiro i gained 20 lbs most in breasts and butt and kegsn endeniprone potassium sky rocket and went to hospital my blood pr...
I've been taking lisinopril, lupin 20 mg. for a number of years My last rx was refilled recently and the pharmacy substituted it with actavis 20 mg. With the lupin, my b.p. readings were always good. With the actavis my b.p.is elavated. I have also experienced a terrible rash and intermittent hives. Could the change in meds have caused this? Yesterday I was prescribed verapamil. (haven't started to take it yet). The pharmacy has filled the prescription with verapamil-ER 120 mg MYLAN. I have severe chemical allergies (paraphenadiamine, Balsam of Peru, methylcloroisothiolizone, quinoline mix and wool alchohols). My outbreak may not have anything to do with the med change, but I thought I should investigate all avenues. ## Actavis is the manufacture and I don't take lisinopril ...
My pharmacy has filled my lisinopril prescription with drug from Wockhardt the first month, Acta (Actavis?) the second month, and now Lupin! Lupin is located in Mumbai. Is their GMP as strict as in the US? Do I really want to continue taking lisinopril made in India? What is all this switching generics doing to my body? should I get a new pharmacy where they fill it consistently with drug from the same company? ## You are in no danger from them regularly switching manufacturers, no harm will come of it. Learn more Lisinopril details here. And the one manufactured by Lupin is made to the same strict standards as all others that are available in the U.S. Otherwise, they wouldn't be available here from your pharmacy. And no pharmacy will always fill your prescription with generics from...
I am a 64-year old male and I am 6'0 184 pounds. My average blood pressure before i got on Lisinopril 10mg had crept up to "low 140s" over low to mid 80's. Over the last few years the systolic number rose from lower to upper 120's to consistently in the 140's. I started taking 10mg Lisinopril on April 22, 2025 and my blood pressure actually averages right around 122 / 76, so no complaints for my average. I have taken readings every morning since April 22 so, all of MAY, JUNE and JULY and now a few days in August. HOWEVER, I have a number of readings between 99 and 110, many, many more between 110 and 120. Likewise I have many readings between 120 - 130 and a handful of numbers in the 130's. My diastolic numbers have mostly been in the 70's but more freque...
Updated in LisinoprilOver the last few months my hair has gotten very thin, brittle, and I’m shedding a LOT. My doctor said it was probably hormones and my age (45 yo female). I started taking Biotin and special shampoos, but they didn’t help. Recently I started digging into the Lisinopril side effects and hair loss is cited. I told my doctor and she told me to discontinue. Has anyone had hair loss on this med, then regrowth after discontinuation? ## Dear WH, Sorry to hear about your hair loss. Based on my own investigation, hair loss isn't "officially" listed by the manufacturer or drug labeller as a side effect of Lisinopril. However, there are numerous mentions of this occurring in patient reviews, so I would consider its consumers to be a worthy citation in my book. I suppose it...
My lisinopril (90 day supply, just opened) will expire in 1.5 months. Can I finish it off or do I have to destroy it at the end of January? ## Hello, Lynne! How are you? This medication does not become dangerous once expired, but it may start to lose effectiveness. Thus, in reality, disposing of it, once it expires would be the best thing to do, however, you may want to ask your doctor and pharmacist if you can still finish it, since its loss of effectiveness will most likely be minimal by then. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with? ## How long after the expiration date of lisinopril can you still take it? ## That’s bull about disposing it on the expera...
I had taken losartan50/hctz 12.5 for 10 years, In recently years I suffered dry coughing and bad running nose allergy. I found out this is the side effect of losartan. Cutting the dose to half, changing to a water pill.. did not solve the problem. Over this holiday I developed bronchitis and was quite ill. I had very bad coughing, losing voice, sinus infection, nose bleeding, etc. I stopped taking Losartan to avoid further complications. I notified my doctor that I will check my blood pressure if the record is not over 140-90. I will keep the Losartan off. What else can I do? ## Hello, Muchin! How are you doing? Have your symptoms improved, yet? The FDA lists other typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and increased urination. However,...
SInce being switched from lisinipril 20 mg to Losartan Pot 50 mg about three months ago I have gained 12 pounds and always feel hungry. I also feel jittery. Could this be a side effect of Losartan Pot? ## Yes, these can be side effects of taking Losartan, especially the appetite change and weight gain, that has been reported in up to 4% of the people that take it. Learn more Losartan details here. Have you talked to your doctor about it? It just may not be the right medication for you and you may need to switch to something else. ## This is very interesting to read. I was looking for different side effects because I'm having trouble with serious muscle and joint pains, but have also gained about 12 pounds and eat constantly. I'm in the process of working with my dr to switch med...
What is the most weight lost by anyone on this drug? I have been taking it for about 3 mos. and have lost weight, but I do not know what is normal. ## This is a medication used to treat high blood pressure, it contains a diuretic, so it does remove retained water from the body, but IT IS NOT A WEIGHT LOSS DRUG. ## i was wondering how long it takes for detrol la 4mg to start to work ## VERWON, I am taking this medication for high blood pressure and not for WEIGHT LOSS. I am concerned I may be losing too rapidly. That is why I asked. My question may have been misunderstood. ## I have been taking this drug Triamt/Hctz for over 2yrs now, and i have lost some weight not a whole lot, but i was just wondering if the drug is known to cause weight? I know its not a weight loss drug!...but weight...
I started metoprolol about 6 months ago, and after a few weeks on it, I started having pain in my upper legs (thigh area) and sometimes lower legs. I complained to Dr and they say it’s not from the med. I never had a leg problem and it’s getting worse. After sitting, when I get up my legs feel heavy and painful. Had anyone else had anything like this? ## Hi Jojo, Sorry to hear about your situation. Leg pain unfortunately isn't listed as a side effect of Metoprolol on NIH.gov or Medlineplus.gov. However, they do list swelling (inflammation) of the legs, which I believe in turn can correspond to pain. I have used tab. telma H for around one year. drug has started showing side effects including rise in serium uric acid level to 9.9. Doctor advises me to stop telma H and use telma 40 for the time being. Is it a safe prescription ## Telma H contains both Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide. Telma 40 just contains Telmisartan. As to being safe, there are possible dangers and side effects to all prescription drugs, which is why your doctor should be monitoring your use of them. Some common side effects to Telma 40 may include: nausea, dizziness and headache. You can read more about it here: Is there anything else I can help you with? ## I am using Telma 40 H for the last three months without side effects and consuming alcohol daily ## pls since over 2years i have been taking this telma H,...
Took one Losartan 50mg this morning at 9 am. Forgot about it and took another one at 7pm. Should I worry? ## How are you feeling now? Make sure you don't have any of the symptoms listed below. At least it was 10 hours between doses instead of taking both at the same time. Here's an excerpt from Medline Plus: Losartan may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: - leg, knee, or back pain - muscle cramps or weakness - diarrhea - heartburn - decreased sensitivity to touch Some side effects can be serious. If you experience any of these symptoms or those listed in the SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS section, call your doctor immediately: - swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs - hoarseness - diffic...
I think that I missed my dose today at 1:30, but I'm not sure? Will I be ok to wait until tomorrow to take it? Also should I wait the entire 24 hours or just take it in the morning? ## Hello, Chad! How are you? What did you end up doing? It is always best to check with your doctor regarding what you should do in such a situation, however, in some instances, it is safer to take an extra dose, rather than risk skipping one. Since missing a dose could cause dangerous rebound elevations to your heart rate and blood pressure, which could lead to heat attack, or stroke, according to the AMA. However, doubling up just once, usually only results in your experiencing more side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination, as listed by the FDA. Now, of course, there a...
I enjoy a drink nightly. Will this prevent the pill from doing its job with my blood pressure? (mixed drinks or amaretto). ## Generally, you are warned not to take most medications with alcohol due to the possibility of it aggravating the side effects, such as the nausea and dizziness, because that can result in one drink actually affecting you like you had 2 and so on. Learn more Prinzide details here. With this combination, however, there are some additional concerns, if you are limiting yourself to just one or two drinks, it can actually cause some lowering of your blood pressure, as well, so you have to be careful to watch for signs of that, such as feeling severely dizzy, especially when moving or standing up. The Hydrochlorothiazide is also a diuretic that removes excess fluid fro...
I had been taking 2 tablets of Lisinopril 20 + 12.5 mg HCTZ for almost 20 years. I'm now 60 years old and since my BP is under control, I asked my doctor to take me off the HCTZ. It's been only a week now and I have noticed swelling in my feet and ankles along with a reddish rash. I previously had no side effects from the HCTZ other than dry mouth and skin and frequent urination. Does anyone know if gradually decreasing the amount of HCTZ rather than just stopping abruptly would be a better alternative or if I'm just destined to take HCTZ for the rest of my life? ## Your doctor just had you stop this medication abruptly? If so, then yes, that's likely what's causing the problem, because it has been known to cause rebound effects, especially if you were taking it for ...
I had used lisinopril/hct for 20 years. It started off with one pill per day, but ten years ago doc prescribed 2 pills per day. It combatted my hypertension. As it turned out, I also had hepatitis C for about 30 years. When I finally was cured of HEP C, six months ago, the hypertension went away and I had some night-time incidents when I woke up with severe shortness of breath. So, I stopped taking the Lisinopril six weeks ago. My blood pressure has been unusually low - like around 100/68 and I don't know how to raise it. I am still having shortness of breath and have been having a severe allergic/itchy skin reaction that is unbearable. Doctor doesn't believe I have withdrawal effects from lisinopril. She has not prescribed anything to increase my blood pressure. Lots of doc vis...
Hello, A family member of mine has a prescription of 10mg lisinopril once a day. Recently the pharmacy accidentally gave her a pack of 20mg tablets that she has been taking (thinking they were 10mg) for around 2 weeks. So her doseage has been 10mg for around a year, then accidentally switched to 20mg for 2 weeks. No side effects have been noticed. Is it ok for her to just go back to 10mg now she has realised? Thanks in advance ## The VA stopped giving pain med's to all VET'S a few months ago. I have hernaiated disc's in upper and lower back that causes a great deal of pain I''m 72 years old... NO DOCTOR ANYWHERE WILL PRESCRIBE THE MORPHINE THAT I WAS TAKING AS DIRECTED FOR OVER 4 YEARS. I was getting 60mg time release morphine to take 2 every 12 hours and I was doing...
