Am 38 years old and having a problem with my periods , I need to use contraceptive for me to have periods, when I don't take no having periods. I've been married for 14yrs. ## Hello, Alice! How are you? It sounds like you may have a hormonal imbalance. How long have you gone without taking contraceptives? It can take a few months, after coming off of hormonal contraceptives, for your body to balance your hormones out, again, on its own, as explained by the NIH. Did you used to have regular periods? At your age, it's also possible that you're starting perimenopause, when your body tends to slow down and not ovulate every month. Have you had this checked out?

Hi! I've been taking minastrin 24 fe for about 9 months now. I've never missed a day, but somehow today I slept through my alarm and took it 6 hours late. Will it be ineffective now? ## Hello, Autumn! How are you? No, you've generally got a window of about 12 hours, before it's even considered a late pill and about 24hours, before it's actually considered a missed tablet. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

hi im meant to be getting my jadelle put in today but after reading everyone's reviews im now thinking twice.... what do you think i should do? is it worth it? what is another option that has less side effects? ## Hello, Charlie! How are you? All hormonal contraceptives carry the risk of causing side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, breakthrough bleeding, mood swings and PMS-like symptoms, as listed by the FDA. For options that don't cause as many, you can use condoms, a diaphragm, or a copper IUD. Which side effects are scaring you?

Hi there I am just wondering if I am still able to have babies I had the jadelle for 3 and a half years and have had It removed around december I then fell pregnant straight away which I miscarried at 8 week and 5 days I have been trying to conceive since with no success pls help ## Hello, BabyBoo! How are you? I'm sorry about your loss. Yes, it has no permanent effect on your fertility. However, your hormonal balance may be off, for awhile, after having it removed, which may explain the miscarriage and difficulty getting pregnant, again. Unless your doctor sees some reason to be concerned about a fertility issue, it will most likely just take time. Are you having regular periods? The FDA warns that they may be irregular for awhile, after having Jadelle removed and you may not ovula...

I have had the implanon in for some time now (over a year) and have recently been prescribed oxycontin for severe back/leg pain. Does oxycontin affect the implanon implant? I do not want an unplanned pregnancy. ## Hello, Jen! How are you? No, so it should be fine to take, as long as your doctor approves. The FDA classifies Oxycontin as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I use to be on sprintec then I switched to depo. I like depo more than sprintec but I no longer have insurance so I can't have depo anymore. I have two month supply of sprintec left I'm 5 days into my period would it be okay for me to start taking sprintec again? Will it mess up my cycle again and would my body be okay if I switched back to depo when I get my insurance back? I'm jus really concerned about it and like I said I have no more insurance to go talk about it with my doctor. Thanks ## Yes that should be fine, as long as your doctor approves. Many women switch multiple times to find which one works best for them, or to use a less expensive option. However, if you start that late in your cycle, you'll need to use backup protection for the first full 7 days of taki...

Hi! I've been taking minastrin 24e for the past 4 months or so now. I started getting a normal period and then a light one last month but I didn't get any period at all this month. I didn't take my sugar pills because I was told by my gyno I didn't need to so not sure if that has antything to do with it. I take my pills usually in the morning but not perfectly at the same time every day. And this past month I missed one pill so I simply took two in the morning the next day. My boyfriend and I do not use condoms but he does pull out. Is my missed period normal or could it be pregnancy? I've started my new pack for the month so I want to check. The only pregnancy type symptom I've experienced is having to go to the bathroom a lot but that has been an ongoing proble...

Hey,I'm having Jadella for a year now,my breast nipples are very sore is it normaly ## Yes, that can be a side effect of using a hormonal based contraceptive, such as this one, though you should have it checked out to be sure. The FDA lists the other typical side effects as possibly including breakthrough bleeding, headache, irritability and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

I still have one white pill left and the two brown ones should I be concerned in any way thank you this is my 2 month last month I got my period the 26 and today is the 23 . ## Hello, Carmen! How are you? It can be normal for your periods to be irregular for the first 3 months, or so, of taking an oral contraceptive. It's generally nothing to worry about, unless your doctor sees some reason to be concerned. The FDA lists the other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

The FDA lists them as being the typical symptoms of pregnancy.

I have been prescribed calvepen 666 mG for tonsillitis and am currently taking the contraceptive pill yasmin. My question is will the antibiotics interfere with the effectiveness of the pill? Do I need to use extra protection? ## Hello, Twinkletoes! How are you? Yes, this antibiotic may reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives, so you should use backup protection. The FDA lists other side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

hi there, i am on my 5th year on the jadelle, i got my second lot in last november. i have always bled alot since being on the jadelle and had light brown dischage when im not bleeding ( so theres always pretty much something) but in the last week i have stopped bleeding altogether and have new symptoms, sensitive nipples, stomach cramps, restless legs at night causing sleeplessness and really emotional, has anyone else had this happen so late into using it? ## The level of natural hormones in your body can fluctuate, so it is always possible to start experiencing some new side effects, when you use a hormonal contraceptive. You may also experience nausea, dizziness and headache. Is there any risk of pregnancy?

I am on Sprintec birth control and I want to know if taking a diet pill would interfere with my birth control. I really want to lose like 20 pounds. ## I am on sprintec birth control. I am thinking about taking diet pills to help me with my weight loss goals. I want to know what diet pills won't interfere with my birth control? ## Hello, Candace! How are you? Which diet pill? I'm sorry, but I need more information in order to check for any possible problems or interactions for you. Can you please post back and clarify? Thank you! The FDA its the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, weight changes and PMS-like symptoms. ## I wanted to try out the Garcinia Cambodia pill by Dr.Oz. I'm in my first month of Lo Loestrin Fe. I took my first pill the Sunday after my period started which was just one day after. I took 1 pill 12 hours late and the next one right on time and every time after that pretty much right on time. The websites I've read all said nothing will happen if I just took the one late. I'm on day 26 now and have been spotting for over a week but I have no idea when I'm supose to be expecting my period. ## The spotting may be your period, many oral contraceptives can cause your period to be much lighter than normal. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. However, did you have unprotected intercourse during the first week? Because, if they aren't st...

I've had the jadelle for almost two months now, and I've had my period for like 3 weeks now, it's not heavy and won't even fill a pad in a day. I was just wondering when it will stop as it's annoying. I just want it to end and am seriously considering getting them reremoved as I don't want my period to last this long every time. It's been almost a month and I am worried it won't ever end. Has anyone experienced this and how you you get it to stop. ## That is a possible side effect of Jadelle, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and PMS-like symptoms. It may stop, after about 3 months, or so, or it may continue, there's no way to say for sure. Most doctors will prescribe an oral birth control pill to help balance y...

I got jadelle about two weeks ago and there has been constant bleeding since I got that. So I went to family planning and the put me on 84 AVA 30 ED Ta 150mcg+30mcg and told me that it should stop my periods. They out me on it for three months and I'm on my second day of this but nothing has happened! Does it die down after three months or is something wrong? I'm considering getting jadelle taken out cause it's only caused problems for me ## Hello, Azalea992! How are you? If you've only been taking it for 2 days, you haven't given it nearly enough time to work and become effective. It may take a couple weeks for it do that, or as long as 3 months. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and PMS-like symptoms. Has there...

I've been taking Loestrin FE for about 3 years now. I haven't had my period for about a year and a half. I haven't missed any pills in the last month. In spite of this, my boobs started hurting and got a little bigger and I got my period again. And it's heavier than it ever was on the pill. Am I pregnant? What's going on? ## Hello, Lauren! How are you? If you haven't missed any pills and experienced a period, then it isn't like that you're pregnant. These types of symptoms can be normal side effects of oral contraceptives, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience headache, weight changes and PMS-like symptoms. It sounds like you're just experiencing a hormonal fluctuation, but it would be best to consult your doctor to be sure there's nothing...

Hi, I've been taking Minastrin 24 for two months now. In my second month I had missed a couple pills but made them up and I had only fully missed one pill (meaning I didn't take it at all). My boyfriend and I had been intimate and everything with the pull out method. Now I am 21 days late on my period. After I was done with the white set I just stopped taking the birth control. I have regular periods. Around one week before my period I experienced a weird period that was just spotting. Very light, only last 2 days. Didn't even need a tampon. Is this normal? I'm basically asking if that was considered a period? Will I get my next cycle? ## Hello, Lindsay! How are you? Has anything changed? It can be normal to have very light and short periods, while taking oral contracept...

I read the instructions in taking Lo loestrin fe & it says to start the 1st blue pill on the first day of your period on Sunday. However it also said I could start it later than the 1st day of my period but I should be fine after taking 7 blue pills. Will my period be delayed now? Because I was suppose to start the 1st of December and haven't gotten it yet but I feel like it's coming. Should I be concerned? ## I was on it for almost a year. I didn't get my period for 8 months. Then I didn't have a Dr to get anymore so now I get it. I don't remember how long it took for me not to have my period. ## @Ashhbrad, There's really no way to accurately predict whether or not your period will be delayed (and if so, by how many days/months...?). That is something I feel...

Really confused on why my period hasn't stopped yet...How long does it take for the bleeding to stop if i am already on another pack? I have been bleeding for almost 3 weeks... somebody please help!!!! ## Hello, Tiffany! How are you? Irregular bleeding can occur as a normal side effect, for the first 3 months or so, as your body is getting used to the hormones in these oral contraceptives.
