Big Pharma's Lockdown On Legitimate Chronic Pain Patients (Page 57) (Top voted first)

Updated

Is narcotic pain medicine becoming a thing of the past?

Why are doctors across America phasing out the practice of prescribing effective pain medication?

Will big pharmaceutical companies ever truly understand what it's like to face the other side of the coin?

Lately there's been a musty scent in the air surrounding the use of prescribed narcotic pain medication. Many doctors appear to be running scared as the DEA scours through fields of medical records, inspecting prescribing pads like a mouse scavenges for food in a dimly lit cellar.

Should the day come when doctors recommend Ibuprofen to a feeble man who's been involved in a terrible car accident (breaking several bones / requiring extensive surgery), is this doctor at risk of malpractice when there are more effective options available that they choose not to pick, out of fear? Fear of what? Doing the right thing? No, I don't think this is the reason... Somewhere along the line, in the not too distant past, doctors were loosely prescribing narcotic pain medication as if it would never go out of style. Nowadays, the harsh penalty of potentially losing their license for writing any unknown number of opiate prescriptions over so many calendar days or some other form of strict criteria, has been enough to prevent many physicians from taking even subtle "risks" with patients who are expressing obvious signs of pain and discomfort.

The unfortunately unique problem with pain is that it's not a physical object and in order for others to detect it, they'd have to rely solely on the backbone of our body language using their intuition - something that's gone missing in western practice. If more doctors took the time and really got to know their patients front to back, then they will be their own best judge of deciding what the right thing to do is, regardless of what the DEA thinks about their decision or what their drug representative wants out of the deal. Sadly, until patients are put before profits, the foundation of America's healthcare system remains in jeopardy like an iceberg affected by global warming.

While I believe that the vast majority of human beings in their right mind would choose to do the right thing, we must all work together to become the change we wish to see within every aspect of our lives; and knowing that by doing so, it will shine light on those crossing our path that need it most.

In the meantime, some patients may have to find another way to manage their pain without putting their life or health at risk. Others are turning to natural alternatives such as kratom, cannabis, turmeric and/or implementing various lifestyle changes into their daily regime... But the key is to never give up hope.

What will you do?

Warm regards to all who face life's challenges head on.

No, I haven't, I am a big advocate for the meds that have been around for decades and are tried and true. Would be interested in knowing more to discuss with my PA... THANKS FOR THE HOPE OF BEING PAIN FREE!

Yes all of this was on 60 minutes. He even prescribed a large amount of Percocet to a pregnant woman. He didn’t deny any of the charges. He said these protocols were recommended in the past.

I am very interested in Kratom as I need some relief.. The doctor I found is sketchy, he does not prescribe meds properly.. I will be looking and where do we find it and is it expensive? I tried CBD oil it worked the first day but not with pain but mood. I went to the ER in April for Clonidine to get off Percocet. I am now being detoxed off Clonidine. You get addicted to it or your body does. I am going through hell. I was told to come off it slow. My new doctor is only giving me one a night. Your heart gets use to it and I was told not to cut back quickly. My heart is beating hard and fast and it makes your blood pressure go crazy. I am afraid I will die here alone. Pharmacist says one thing doctor says another.

I refuse most drugs, but all recognize medical doctors are:
1. Trained to use them and so complicated they may not remember how many of each.
2. Make a living from their practice and some related to a pharmacy to make profits from.
3. Some patients expect drugs to heal, or are addicted to them. If the doctors does not prescribe
what the patience demands he will lose a patient and earn less money.

The crackdown mostly started happening back in 2010-2011. Most of the 'pill mills' are a thing of the past. What we are dealing with now is the fallout of the criminal element spilling over and affecting the proven, documented pain patients who had been taking these prescriptions for many years. Lumping everyone in with the criminal element of the so called crisis should be illegal, as it is definitely against our Bill of Rights and the Hippocratic Oath every Doctor has to Swear To...

I live in CT., and will be having hernia surgery again. I expect my surgeon to prescribe a pain medication. Will I be denied a narcotic? I do not care about receiving oxycodone. I believe it is the doctor patient relationship and he has operated on me five times in the past.

Then it definitely sounds like you would benefit from kratom. Try a green veined one. It helps with pain, mood lifting, anxiety and the list goes on. Now vendors sell all kinds of names to there kratom, so if you bump into one you can ask me. But this is how it is, 3 main colors: red, green and white..Just remember red is for pain and sedation, white is for energy and green is in between both..you will notice this once you go to a vendor's site. You can always ask them for advice too.

Re: Claude (# 1142) Expand Referenced Message

See that's why kratom didn't work for you. It's a very selfish plant and want to be the only one working for you. Now when I was detoxing off percocet 10s I had a friend guide me too because I was also new to it. A girl told me to order red bali so I ordered 500 grams, but after playing around with kratom I found out I like the greens the best, like a green maeng da or a green Kong Kong, I heard that's the best and it is because you get great mood lift and pain relief... I save my reds for night time..and I never buy them in capsules. I cap them myself, it's way cheaper. I do it by hand or they sell machines. Now I was told to take my pain pill first and an hour later take the krarom. And you can take the krarom as much as you need for relief, just dont take very large doses at first. If you do the most that will happen is nausea..so I took around 3 teaspoons, as much as I needed. And just keep doing it. The more you let kratom do its job the less pain pills, you will notice actually skipping doses of your medication. And I found myself liking the kratom more than the pills. Heroin users use kratom to detox successfully so I kept thinking if they can do it I should be able to do it. A lot of people have detoxed off pills using kratom. So you can give it another try and see. Just remember if you have alot of pills in your system kratom will not work. I tried it before I detoxed. I ran short of my pain pills and I couldn't believe it, it worked. I wasn't up to par, but I definitely did not have withdrawals either. I have been through way to many withdrawals and it's no fun at all.. so no more withdrawals for me. I will use kratom instead.

Re: Laura (# 1162) Expand Referenced Message

No, I am not talking about an epidural or spinal block. The block I’m talking about numbs the nerves of the abdomen where where the hernia is. It doesn’t involve the spine. It usually helps with the amount of pain which is worst the first 48 hours.

I saw my new Dr. yesterday. He is suppose to do pain management too. Well I ask for help with medications, he spent the entire time looking on the computer seeing what is allowed. I am not allowed to have more than 20 Mg of Percocet per day. My Oxymorphone he said was only allowed one 10 Mg the entire day. I have serious pain issues from a car accident and that is not counting back damage and leg and neck damages. It is crazy that my meds were cut yo not een a 3rd. He only gave me 2 weeks worth until I am evaluated by a Dr who evaluates what help you need. I am disgusted by the indifference to my pain. Please tell where you get Kratom? I need help desperately and is this expensive.

That is not cdc regulation.... cdc says 90mg morphine or equivalent.... that is 10- 10/325 hydrocodone or morphine and 6- 10/325 oxycodone.... from cdc website.... search cdc recommended pain med prescriptions.... they say recommended but most states are taking it as law.

Re: Laura (# 1171) Expand Referenced Message

Where I worked it was done right before being taken to the operating room. The patient started out in the Preoperative Department where the IV is started and antibiotic usually given and your family can be with you, then while the previous surgery is being finished and room cleaned you are taken to the Block room without your family. You usually are given a sedative like Versed for relaxation and under visualization with an ultrasound the lidocaine for numbing is injected into the correct area depending on your surgical site. Then you are taken to the operating room and put to sleep. Most patients seemed to get a lot of relief from it. Some patients don’t need any IV medication in the recovery room. I’m not real sure how long it lasts because I didn’t see the patients before they went home but anesthesia personnel said that patients went home slot faster and with much less nausea.

Re: Claude (# 1167) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Claude. 12 capsules of (quality) Maeng da or Bali Kratom should last about 4-8 hours, at least in my experience. I occasionally take the equivalent of 8-12 capsules in the form of a teaspoon and make tea out of it, adding raw honey and/or stevia to mask it. This makes the powder mix a lot easier than the "toss and wash" approach in juice.

My Maeng da green lasts for up to 8 hours on an empty stomach before I feel like it's completely worn off. However I suppose with varying levels of pain and tolerance that one may need to adjust their dosing regimen to accommodate these fluctuating factors. 8-12 capsules is a normal dose range though in my opinion.

Hope this helps! :)

Re: Sue (# 1173) Expand Referenced Message

It is probably easier for you to Google “Kratom” but briefly it is an herbal plant that works on the opioid receptors in the brain like narcotics do to block pain. See David’s post to me. One word of caution though- the federal government is working to make it an illegal schedule 1 drug just like heroin. So it may not be available for long. That only tells me that it works and is worth looking into!

Re: David (# 1177) Expand Referenced Message

Hi David, this is a good dose, however if your going to do 8-12 capsules, I have found out that the capsules take way longer to get the effect and I have read some ppl complain about stomach ache issues, not alot. I however make my own caps by hand and filling both ends.. I have tried the toss n wash method and that's definitely they best way to feel the kratom sooner I also found on Amazon edible discs. What a huge difference from taking so many capsules..and I know that some ppl boil kratom for hot tea , but I follow carpo on utube and read comments about why would one boil it and make it less potent because of boiling it, making it not as potent. Anyway for me any bali I dont like or use.i still have 500grms of red bali because someone suggested it. I guess its comes in handy for bedtime. I highly recommend a green like maeng da. Even better green Jong Kong perfect for morning, noon evening.. very good info to give others because I have been following this page and it doesn't seem like anyone is firmialr with kratom. I use leaf of life bontics. They are very smart and honorable. They care what your putting in you so they order only the best

I am currently on 15mg morphine every 12 hrs. Do I have to be off this before Kratom will be effective? Would the powder blend well in a smoothie?
