Big Pharma's Lockdown On Legitimate Chronic Pain Patients (Page 55)

Updated

Is narcotic pain medicine becoming a thing of the past?

Why are doctors across America phasing out the practice of prescribing effective pain medication?

Will big pharmaceutical companies ever truly understand what it's like to face the other side of the coin?

Lately there's been a musty scent in the air surrounding the use of prescribed narcotic pain medication. Many doctors appear to be running scared as the DEA scours through fields of medical records, inspecting prescribing pads like a mouse scavenges for food in a dimly lit cellar.

Should the day come when doctors recommend Ibuprofen to a feeble man who's been involved in a terrible car accident (breaking several bones / requiring extensive surgery), is this doctor at risk of malpractice when there are more effective options available that they choose not to pick, out of fear? Fear of what? Doing the right thing? No, I don't think this is the reason... Somewhere along the line, in the not too distant past, doctors were loosely prescribing narcotic pain medication as if it would never go out of style. Nowadays, the harsh penalty of potentially losing their license for writing any unknown number of opiate prescriptions over so many calendar days or some other form of strict criteria, has been enough to prevent many physicians from taking even subtle "risks" with patients who are expressing obvious signs of pain and discomfort.

The unfortunately unique problem with pain is that it's not a physical object and in order for others to detect it, they'd have to rely solely on the backbone of our body language using their intuition - something that's gone missing in western practice. If more doctors took the time and really got to know their patients front to back, then they will be their own best judge of deciding what the right thing to do is, regardless of what the DEA thinks about their decision or what their drug representative wants out of the deal. Sadly, until patients are put before profits, the foundation of America's healthcare system remains in jeopardy like an iceberg affected by global warming.

While I believe that the vast majority of human beings in their right mind would choose to do the right thing, we must all work together to become the change we wish to see within every aspect of our lives; and knowing that by doing so, it will shine light on those crossing our path that need it most.

In the meantime, some patients may have to find another way to manage their pain without putting their life or health at risk. Others are turning to natural alternatives such as kratom, cannabis, turmeric and/or implementing various lifestyle changes into their daily regime... But the key is to never give up hope.

What will you do?

Warm regards to all who face life's challenges head on.

I thought this thread was about the opiate crisis. And the pain patients not getting her medications why are you always talking about politics? I just don't get it. Let's stay on track and talk about the issue at hand. We the pain patients need help. I'm willing to do anything that I possibly can do to help but I'm not going to sit here and bash whoever you feel like bashing at the moment. We the pain patients need help and I feel like we're going to win this fight but it's going to be a battle so put your seatbelt on it's going to be an adventure.

I get what you're saying I truly do. But why does this always go back to politics? We have to fight and we have to fight hard. This thread used to be so interesting and it did help me on a day-to-day basis. With hope that is. My pain doctor told me he's afraid to write for anything stronger because of the DEA. Then the pharmacy tells the pain patients they're afraid to feel the prescriptions because of the DEA.... There was an article I was reading on Facebook one day and it said the DEA is tired of the doctors blaming them and the DEA said they are tired of the pharmacies blaming them. So I just wonder who is right and who is so wrong? Moral of this whole situation is we have to truly find out who's right and who's wrong and why are so many people afraid of whoever this may be and why do they have so much power over all of us? So far I have a really good pain doctor. But there's so many that do not and my heart just goes out to all that don't have a good pain doctor or a good plan. Let's all try to keep our ugly comments toward one another down. We're not the enemy, we just have to find out who is.

You are such a liar. I have tried to get people like you and your minions to stay on point, to no avail. Constantly there are many on this thread that insult the Republican administration and place the blame on them by posting insulting comments. I have warned those like you that if people on this thread posted political comments they would be responded to. Still, many vile political comments are and were being posted and I will respond. If you do not want to see a defense posted stop posting the vile comments that are being posted. Like on this post I will RESPOND.

When a person thinks it is okay to introduce their political opinions on this thread and think it is okay with them to post their vile posts and no one is suppose to respond. If you respond then YOU are the bad person for responding and defending against the vile posts. If you don’t like it then you people stop posting your nonsense and there will be no response. So stop your insanity.

Again there you go again with negative comments. Maybe you need to check yourself. We need to fight the good fight and not fighting with one another. So please stop the insanity.

Do replies to your comments just cause more pain? Just laugh to cure it. ;)

I don't know if I should laugh or be offended. LOL but that was a good reply. Let's fight the good fight.

Maybe you need to stop posting threatening and vile comments that support your political agenda. I have posted and begged you people to stay on point and leave politics out of it but you persist. Then when anyone replies to your nonsense you act so offended. Stop your nonsensical posts and placing blame while at the same time never offering up any real solutions.

If you are “offended” then stop posting replies. It is that simple. If you want to defend your position then fine but you seem to enjoy fighting with people.

Ignorance rules define..... political dont post.... political attacks on politicians..... so n so is the cause no it is whats there name not so.... PEOPLE GET A GRIP.... attacks & name calling is detrimental to our case the only name that works is ignorant.... why you ask?.....because ALL ARE IGNORANT OF SOME POINTS including me..... but attacks on those in political office past present & future will not help to make any positive changes..... negative changes is what these attacks are most likely going to cause.... (you go to buy something and attack the sales person & call them names you think you will get a better deal [which is what you want] dream on they jack up the price 20% & give ya a 15% discount so you spend 5% more than if you said nothing)..... but we should not be talking politics...WRONG... nothing but bad things happen when you leave politics unchecked....that is how this situation happened.... those in office dont care. The chance they will get voted out after a 2nd term is almost 0..... thus they take money from whoever and push what they are paid to push..... i have lived in pain since the mid 80s at least i suffered thru it till summer of 2000 & had an unrelated injury to previous pain..... thats when the opioid treatment started (it did not take all the pain away nut it made life bearable) drs kept after 5 years or so they put me on fentanyl and steadily increased it to 75mcg @ 48 hrs but my metabolism & patches didnt get along the only way i could safely take the 75 was to cut it in half and apply a half every day & remove after 2 days....

This worked great for me for a couple years at least.....but another unrelated issue arose; (i dont do illegal drugs) but anyway the government crackdown also started at this time (so not sure icf related to issue) but pm has reduced my meds & plan to continue reducing them to cdc recomendation oc 90mg morphine or equivalent max per day..... thats 9 hydrocodone/morphine 10/325 or 6 same dose oxycodone a day..... but anyway got off track.... cdc is a govt entity. No govt entity will change until politics change & politics wont change if people ignore & refuse to discuss politics..... but it must be done like you are buying from a sales person.... name calling will just make it worse...... why you ask? Because you will alienate those you call names & the others will say see what those drugs (opioid pain meds) do to those people (pain sufferers) they are getting dangerous and we need to stop those drugs.... tho you & i know it is the pain & frustration causing the aggressive actions (BUT THEY DONT HAVE A CLUE they are not suffering the severe pain) so quit being ignorant and alienating those that can help.... i know its hard but call your elected officials (BE NICE) and explain the situation the changes in pain medications have affected YOUR & YOUR FAMILIES life.... i hope you will heed this post & start calling & explaining the FACTS that they dont understand.... we dont want operations that pain meds keep us from having..... lots of medical field lobbyists so it will take a lot of phone calls....so stop b*****n & start call n & enlightening those in power.

I would like to offer my sincere thanks for this venue allowing my input! Having reviewed the data from numerous sources, I'd like to suggest that a person be elected willing to meet with state officials in person, testimonials in hand. If it is not too bold of me, I'd be glad to serve as a representative of the people displaced by the regulatory/administrative absurdity. I am inspired by the words of our former president Harry S. Truman, that once said; "The Buck Stops Here."

As I have stated in previous posts, I have had my p. m. doc cut me back on opiod quanities & dosages so I don't run into that no more brickwall. He is looking into putting me on Levorphanol 2-4 mg. It has been around since 1953 & is supposed to be 4-6 times stronger than morphine. This will take the place of my 3 current opioids. It is mail ordered through a compounding pharmacy. My question is has anyone been on this or heard of any experiences on it? Thanks y'all!!

I think that sounds like a great plan. I would love to do this. Like I said we need to fight and we need to fight hard and as long as it takes. This is so not fair that the doctors won't stand up to whoever it is and give people what they need. Thank you.

I guess if I can win the contest that's just too funny. As long as we can get something done. I like you. Great sense of humor. I think laughter sometimes is the best medicine.

Hi All... I've talked with Sherrod Brown a few times here in Ohio and he's actually been amazing and willing to help with the pain patient issue. He's a really good person. And he does care. What do you think about Sherrod Brown helping and having our backs? Because he truly does.

It would seem that now only very certain 'pain' patients qualify for opioids and that would be people having bone surgery, end stage diabetes and that's about the extent of it as far as opioids go. I mentioned before that Red Bali is available in most States even tho there was a bad batch in the US. The truth is that the US has been in an opioid crisis since the Civil War and no one started paying attention until the death rate started taking it's toll which includes those of us now. Bezos still have their place in medicine, just not long enough now seems to be the problem. Just watch the old westerns and read the old books about Laudnum(sp?/opioid/liquor) We can 'try' out certain antidepressants to take the edge off and we still have some decent NSAIDS that help a little. There does not seem to be a lot of choices. I know for a fact that Red Bali is as powerful as any opioid and even the Feds just call it 'another opioid'. Certain States have legal MJ which helps a bunch I understand. Whether or not one wants to risk them, is up to that particular person. Everything had to come crashing down at some point in time and we got caught in the middle of it because of the rising death toll year by year by year and it really started in around 1990 and kept rising and rising and rising. One cannot blame any particular political party for the deeds done in our country for so many years in our history. I know in Colombia one does not need a Rx for an opioid but one is necessary for a benzo so it's not just the USA. If it had not been 'us' it well would have been our children or grandchildren that took the brunt of this. Sorry everyone. 'Them there is the Facts'. Don't like it but have to live with it. I don't know if anyone has ever mentioned that hypnosis can recall and reinstate the exact same drug experience IF it is known in the brain. Not all hypnotists/hypnotherapists are equal in that regard. Be well~

I'm not sure what your problem is. But you need to leave my name out of your mouth please. I've asked you this before and you keep on attacking me. Please stop. Thank you. I'm starting to get the creeps.

The doctor's these days don't care... if you even get to see him/her instead of a PA. They get their $$ no matter what they prescribe. It's a sad commentary, but true. Much easier go shift a patient to a pain management center. Very hard to fond a good 'old fashioned' doctor who will even lay his hands on you other than to use a stethoscope, to feel the muscle spasms, arthritis bony growth advance , etc.
I weigh less than 95 lbs now, after staying at a good average 100 lbs or more for the past 20 to 30 years, because of the cold Turkey from Lorcet... then Norco (joke). Now taking Tylenol 3.. Ha... taking care of my 85 yr old mother at 61 is no joke. For the past couple of years has been downhill... just cold Turkey from Some for insomnia and muscle spasms at night the last 6 months. Sleep deprivation and cannot get comfortable in bed. PA give me samples for 'natural 'sleep aid! I wish! Been trying to get me to go to pain management... another pain where the the sun don't shine...
What to do?? HELP!!!
