Big Pharma's Lockdown On Legitimate Chronic Pain Patients (Page 43)

Updated

Is narcotic pain medicine becoming a thing of the past?

Why are doctors across America phasing out the practice of prescribing effective pain medication?

Will big pharmaceutical companies ever truly understand what it's like to face the other side of the coin?

Lately there's been a musty scent in the air surrounding the use of prescribed narcotic pain medication. Many doctors appear to be running scared as the DEA scours through fields of medical records, inspecting prescribing pads like a mouse scavenges for food in a dimly lit cellar.

Should the day come when doctors recommend Ibuprofen to a feeble man who's been involved in a terrible car accident (breaking several bones / requiring extensive surgery), is this doctor at risk of malpractice when there are more effective options available that they choose not to pick, out of fear? Fear of what? Doing the right thing? No, I don't think this is the reason... Somewhere along the line, in the not too distant past, doctors were loosely prescribing narcotic pain medication as if it would never go out of style. Nowadays, the harsh penalty of potentially losing their license for writing any unknown number of opiate prescriptions over so many calendar days or some other form of strict criteria, has been enough to prevent many physicians from taking even subtle "risks" with patients who are expressing obvious signs of pain and discomfort.

The unfortunately unique problem with pain is that it's not a physical object and in order for others to detect it, they'd have to rely solely on the backbone of our body language using their intuition - something that's gone missing in western practice. If more doctors took the time and really got to know their patients front to back, then they will be their own best judge of deciding what the right thing to do is, regardless of what the DEA thinks about their decision or what their drug representative wants out of the deal. Sadly, until patients are put before profits, the foundation of America's healthcare system remains in jeopardy like an iceberg affected by global warming.

While I believe that the vast majority of human beings in their right mind would choose to do the right thing, we must all work together to become the change we wish to see within every aspect of our lives; and knowing that by doing so, it will shine light on those crossing our path that need it most.

In the meantime, some patients may have to find another way to manage their pain without putting their life or health at risk. Others are turning to natural alternatives such as kratom, cannabis, turmeric and/or implementing various lifestyle changes into their daily regime... But the key is to never give up hope.

What will you do?

Warm regards to all who face life's challenges head on.

This is Dumb to be arguing over Political parties because BOTH agree on Robbing Drs and cutting pain patients OFF. It's the ONLY thing they do Agree on? This pain care Problem started a decade ago. NOW it's out of Control and people are killing their selves from Untreated or undertreated Pain. Let's stop in house arguing and UNITE to Fight Back AGAINST this Torture. The public needs to Get LOUDER. All the facts we Need to be spreading is found on U-Tube by George Knapp at I-Team News channel 8 News Now. He's gathered all the FACTS.

I agree. Things were great for months then one guy started posting about how everything was President Trumps and the Republicans fault and things digressed from there. It is difficult not to respond to repeated nonsense.

You are so right, I just wish people would see that these problems have been in the works for years.

C and W John,
I would personally appreciate you getting off this thread with your political warfare. You are not helping any of us. Remember, you don’t have to go to every fight you’re invited to. At least that’s what my kindergarten teacher said! If you have nothing to add to the chronic pain subject then don’t say anything at all. I have noticed a lot of regulars are no longer participating because of this political banter. It isn’t fair to those of us trying to help each other and it doesn’t matter who you voted for in 2016 or before. It matters who you vote for this November. Everyone should research their states nominees and find out their stance on the “opioid crisis” and vote accordingly! Period!

So you suggest not voting at all? EVERY POLITICIAN is against the “opioids” in BOTH major parties. Btw, this thread was on one subject until this c character was asked on numerous occasions to refrain from political statements and he insisted on calling out the President and other Conservatives. If you do not like the tone of this thread then get c to shut up because no one will reply to a comment that is not there. I will not tolerate his further nonsense because you can only attack so much before you will get smacked down.

Trust me. I am voting in the primary and general this year along with all my friends and family. Getting anyone not registered I'm trying to make sure they're registered. I did manage to get a comment in on the federal page where they were taking her comments as chronic pain patients. I haven't had my meds taken away but I am worried. I joined a study and they're asking all kinds of questions regarding my opiates. I wonder if it was a mistake? It's 4 cognitive thinking therapy in regard to pain management.

I've signed everything I can and shared the petitions I think there was several, all having to do with stopping this war on chronic pain patients. Each case should be looked at individually. They just want to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Yes! I know about the horror stories of addiction. I've been on pain meds for 10 years. Without them I would be bedridden. I've never abused them not so much as once in all these 10 years. I'm hearing stories from everywhere that that doesn't matter. I'm hearing they can take them anyway. I'm hearing of suicides because of this. Do they have any idea what kind of pain people are living with even with the pain meds?

I agree. We don't have anyone to vote for because they're all using our pain for their Political gain. It's disgusting. The Politicians want average citizens to believe they're going to fix something (illicit drug crisis) in which they can't. I know many advocates who've been to speak to with Politicians of their states, especially Florida and these Politicians will not speak One word about pain patients and their needs. It's like a Dirty word to say pain patient and opioid in the same sentence to them. So??? I would like to know how to get anything done with them? We NEED to find a way to get untreated or undertreated pain to the Supreme Court?...
"Treating Pain should be a Fundamental, basic Human Right!" We need to go in this direction, how do we start to achieve this? We've now got government , health insurance, and pharmacy dictating to us and our Doctor's. They're all practicing medicine without a License! This should considered Illegal. Not one of those entities has examined us physically but are dictating our healthcare. We're just a number to them. This is WRONG. We should all be B****ing about that!

Sorry, this C guy John talks about didn't start the political stuff.. all you have to do is go back and read the threads.. I simply replied to his post and comment and he didn't like it and started acting like a 7th grader using name calling like Libs and oblamaer and others... but I'm allowed to speak just as much as him or even you and my posts have been approved by the administrator here on this forum. Before that a woman asked him to stop typing in caps and when he said he only did one word at a time in caps I called him out when in fact I've seen many posts with 2 or even 3 words in a row in caps.. instead of just acting on her behalf because I call him out on it he picks a fight with me. Then says I called the president's daughter the C word. It was a bold face lie. The moderators wouldn't even let that word in type be on this thread.. and i called him out yet again on it. I'm a chronic pain person myself and for him to come and start stuff but can't take it when he's proven wrong... All anyone has to do is go back and read his rhetoric posts. But yet above in a post he says this C guy or this C character...All he has to do is keep my name out of his mouth.

You're nonsense... That's all I can say... I won't lower myself to 7th grade standards.. the ONLY thing I said about Trump is he put Kelly Ann Conway in charge of this opioid crisis and she knows nothing about it! Because it's a Heroin crisis... a junkie crisis... not a chronic pain crisis. They left those words out! Then you come on and start this and dem that.. and use your 7th grade words. Go away already.

Only thing i said is that Trump didn't put the right person in charge of the opioid war. I mean Kelly Ann Conway? She knows nothing about pain mgnt and opioids... Why not put a Dr. or how about the surgeon general.. or one of them from the past? I did however call out someone calling names tho.

Hey, have you tried Kratom? Its an herb from the coffee family... it does help.. the FDA I trying to Ban that as well though. Your right tho.. they are making it all about the death that has happened and we're caught in the pendelium swinging the other way because they forgot about chronic pain and only put the words Acute pain in these new laws. Try Kratom tho...let me know how you like it. Its good for anxiety as well.

No candidate will be perfect on every issue. Yes, it would be nice to believe that there is a person that would support chronic pain patients but this is a political hot button right now and no person THAT IS RUNNING on either major party’s ballot is supporting chronic pain patients. Please, also remember that a person can be for an issue but if they can’t get it by the legislative branch then what will get accomplished? Exactly WHO do you think will get anything done? And at what cost to this Country on other issues? People should not be a one issue voter but do, on balance, what is correct overall. I would like to see these over seeing agencies reigned in but this issue is a hot button right now and I don’t see anyone giving more than lip service to this issue right now. And that is even if they would be willing to that.

Claude (# 847) --

Excuse me. I was so caught up in reading your rant. Because neither party has a candidate that supports chronic pain patients at this juncture then if your advice was followed who would get your vote if NO ONE supports the one issue you have dialed in on? Occasionally, one must look past ONE issue and look at what is best for the Country. Maybe, someone will hopefully reel in the agencies that are responsible but regardless of who that is I would not hold my breath.

Hi, what is Kratom? OTC? I have lower back pain (like the beginning of labor pain) that only seems to subside with Acetaminophen-Codeine 30mg. This drug caused severe constipation in me. You win one battle but lose another. I hurt my lower back March 15th taking clothes out of the dryer.

Hi, you can just Google it and find out all about it. Yes it is available OTC, but the only places that I have been able to find it are "smoke shops". You can also order it online..... hope this helps.

First of all I am not on a rant, you are. Secondly, I “dialed in” on this issue because that is what this thread is about-chronic pain. You are fighting with me, when we are on the same side, just for the sake of arguing. I’m not foolish enough to vote for anyone based on one issue and you shouldn’t assume others are either. I am dropping this thread because it is no longer helpful to me. I can get aggravated enough just watching the news. I don’t need the addition of political in-fighting!
