Is the round pink 30 mg Adderall generic name Sandoz/Eon with the markings of CDR 136 on one side more or less effective than the oval orange 30 mg Adderall generic name Barr/Teva with the markings of b974 on one side and 30 on the other side? What is the most effective/potent Adderall that is generic and 30 mg?

I just threw the bottle away.. The markings are e 404... Has anyone else experienced hair thinning or heard of thinning hair while taking adderall? As I mentioned in my previous post, I had no problems with the oval, not sure of the markings..

My apologies. My other posts were replies to other replies and I didn't realize they wouldn't show as such. I didn't realize all postings only apply to the original.

So, I'll just make one long reply to cover some of my personal findings and tips from about 10 years experience. I'm a 60 yr. old male, ADHD mixed, mainly inattentive w/ other co-morbidities (your co-morbids such as depression, etc. make a big diff on effectiveness of diff generics); w/20's son and teen daughter, both mainly ADHD inattentive and yes it is different in many cases for girls/women).

Women/girls need to do extra research. Most research has been done on boys/teens w/emphasis on the "hyper" side since that is most disruptive to factory classrooms and does not always apply to girls or adults of either gender. Girls and adults also need to check w/Psych/Dr. on their experience in working with and treating these two groups. How many or what % of their practice is w/girls/adults? It makes a difference.

This personal info only applies to experiences with generic Adderall. Other stimulant or non-stimulant meds may work better in your case. Until they come up with a blood panel/test that can help determine what would work best for each of us on a monthly basis, trial and error is the only way.

Personal/Family Preference (by far) for generic IR Adderall: Sandoz. Haven't used XRs for over five years so no opinion at this point.

2nd choice: TEVA/Barr (IR doesn't last quite as long, less focus, etc. for me; somewhat more variation from "batch" to batch but usually pretty consistent. Works better than most for us but Sandoz still significantly better in my experience.

No effect or worse (for us): CorePharma (Core) and Aurobindo. Some have reported positives with Core and Auro but I haven't seen any that say that after comparing w/TEVA and/or Sandoz though of course there probably are some. If you're happy with it, great but you may want to think about a 2nd opinion on your diagnosis.

Take at least one or two 2-3 day breaks in month if at all possible to help with tolerance/resistance. No matter the brand, constant usage will result in lower effectiveness over time.

If you haven't tried more than one brand you don't know what is best for "you". If there is a difference (good or bad) for your chemistry, you'll know it very quickly, usually with the first dose. Make the effort to try at least one different brand.

Have tried Mallinckrodt (they haven't) w/varying results. It's been over 9 months though so I'm unsure of current quality. Have tried others but not w/in the past year and anything beyond that time is pretty much worthless (as far as information goes) with batch variations, changes in ownership and in QC (quality control), etc. invalidating "old" opinions/data.

When you find something that works, ALWAYS ask for the same brand at your pharmacy when you drop off the scrip and ALWAYS check the label before you leave to avoid surprises. Don't assume it will be the same!

Check the label at the pharmacy counter so that you can change or return it if it is not what you requested or need. If you leave, usually you're stuck with it. Sucks to be stuck w/a month's worth of "nothing" when the pharmacy makes changes. Sooner or later most do (especially chains and usually more than once a year, sometimes quarterly or even monthly) and the change is almost always cost-focused and for the worse (for us).

Most pharmacies won't make special orders (sadly) any longer as another cost cutting measure. That means you need to check personally with other pharmacies if yours stops carrying your "favorite". Phoning is possible but not as effective as going in person. If you're a teen, go w/an adult. Sorry, but you'll get better service in many cases. The pharm tech may "guess" on the phone (especially when they're super busy which is most of the time anymore) but they're more likely to ask the Pharmacist or check the computer if you're standing there.

Complain to the Pharmacist (has no direct control over purchasing decisions in chain drug/supermarkets but can pass info on to those who do) and especially on the corporate website when changes are made for the worse. Complain to the FDA over any bad experiences. The more that do it, the greater the chances that someday, real changes will be made.

Check w/your Psych/Doctor if they know of a pharmacy that carries the brand that works for you. They sometimes track that info. Also, inform them when a particular brand does or does not work. They can also make complaints to the FDA, etc.

Educate yourself! Don't depend solely on the opinion/research of others like me. Use different sources as a platform to find the right answers for you!

Right now the insurance companies, drug companies, corporate buyers, and their legislative minions control what we can or cannot have access to as far as our medicines are concerned. It is just flat wrong that the "best" medicine that helps us function (original brand Adderall in this case) is effectively removed from our choice by artificially high "brand" pricing. It is also wrong that the better generics are also out of reach many times as well due to corporate purchasing decisions. While most any generic will work well for my infections, prostate, cholesterol, blood pressure, etc. it is not the same for something as individual as brain chemistry. The opportunity cost for us and for society is huge but effectively, doesn't matter. Dollar costs rule. Good luck to all.

Ok this post is to hopefully help at least one person, so here it goes...

I'm 27 in new york, Been prescribed Adderall for 2 years, i've done TONS of research on this entire topic. and i have a ton of knowledge on this..Everyone's always like "these are better no these" i was one of them, so, generic adderall, each of them (cor-pharm, teva, auroB, mal, & sandoz) each of them have "fillers & binders) that is made into the generic adderall, and those fillers & binders are the main cause of effecting each person differently, everyone reacts differently to the fillers in the adderall, hence the review's are all over the place..simple as that, it's a fact. (for me) i refuse to get anything but the pink ones (cor-pharma) I've done my analysis & stuck with them, they give me most energy, focus, motivation. Accidentally got the footballs (teva) after (my analysis) and i paid big time for it, i took them and was yawning constantly, was tired, i felt with drawling honestly, Complaints to the FDA did nothing like always. So, folks, it's very important to analyze YOURSELF on each generic, looking up, "what's better" it so pointless cuz the fillers are different for everyone...

i get two 30 IR a day & my tolerance now is my problem, completely stopping for a few days, is THEE ONLY way to lower very high tolerance, (FYI) ritually i take 3,000mg of calcium carbonate (antacid) that absorbs acid in my stomach allowing more of the adderall to absorb into my system without the acid stealing it. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER FOLKS ! hope i helped just 1 person, GOD BLESS EVERYONE !

Since being on Adderall, it's opened my eyes to the whole sketchiness of the FDA! All the rules and regulations are about what makes them money. The public health industry is the most corrupt racket. I'd say it's safe to say the FDA is hugely influenced by the pharmaceutical companies. The public views (and their lives and health), mean nothing to the FDA. They are obviously, and entirely profit motivated. So what if people are harmed by a medicine (or generic medicine), that just means more money in the system in the long run, right?? Yes, it is all really scarey to think about.
To bring this back on topic, I can only guess profit is the same motivator for why pharmaceutical companies have changed ingredients and formulas over the years. Frustrating to find a generic that works and doesn't cause negative side effects, to only turn around the next month and it be changed.

I am sorry you've had this reaction - however I am grateful I am not imagining this same problem w/Aurobindo Pharmacy! My Pharmacy normally had Barr, which worked very well for me. Aurobindo....is garbage! I don't know what to do?? Obviously the Pharmacy won't 'exchange' for a different brand - and it's unlikely they even have a different brand. My pharmacy changed to Aurobindo about 3 mnths ago & at first I thought I was imagining the difference. But apparently others are having big problems also. This stuff seems to be rat poison - it is making my stomach/digestion upset, AND it is totally NOT effective! I'm so sick & tired of grappling with this. It's terrible that generics are SO LOUSY! I can't afford the brand med, which has more stringent quality requirements & is more consistent. I think this generic (made outside the USA) is garbage! (JMHO)

I agree, since I've started with the 20 mg orange flat, oval Barr brand I feel so much more balanced, awake, etc. But, walgreens is always out here in in Orlando, Florida area. Does anyone know who else carrys it or of a comparable brand. I've spent days calling, driving and contacting numerous pharmaceutical companies including Teva and can't get any info. Thank you, I'm a chronic fatigue syndrome, Lupus&fibromyalgia sufferer.

This is in reply to Hamster who posted on August 15th that Hamster believes Teva messed with the formula. I agree. Something is definitely different. A change in the types of fillers, or ratios, or increase in contaminants can easily cause problems. Teva's Generic Adderall has been recalled twice in the past few years, all dosages for things like having to great of a variation from batch to batch and too high contaminants. So it certainly wouldn't surprise me.

People have stated that they don't know what to trust since some people report good experiences with a generic while others report bad experiences. That's because there is a variation from batch to batch. So there's no way for anyone to say whether the batch you get is going to work. But I can say that in Chicago, there has been too great a variation in batches that I've filled at Walgreens specifically on the northside. Case in point, I have an old batch from January, I took one yesterday and was back in business, able to focus, ADHD symptoms gone. So I took one of the new batch again today as a challenge and nada, zip, zilch. I feel nothing but irritability and depressed and I'm sleepy as hell. I only have 10 from the January batch so I guess I will just use sparingly. But the problem is I have no idea which generic to refill next time. It sucks. Amphetamine is cheap to make and has been around forever. You'd think companies could consistently produce this medication the same from batch-to-batch but that is just not the case. And here we are struggling with a medical condition for which our medication is too inconsistent to properly treat. Sucks

Its completely ineffective, at least thats what I Have experienced. When I asked a friend of mine to test the Chemical Components in the Corra brand of Adderall, the results were scary. Naproxen and tylenol but nothing else, he reported the results to hd fda

I was a specialty pharmaceutical rep for a number of years, selling Adderall, and Adderall XR. Generics in psychopharmacology is a recipe for disaster. The generics are allowed to vary from 80-120% of the active ingredient in the branded medication. In dealing with bio-psychological disorders, it is essential to carefully titrate and monitor response to medication. I have dealt with ADHD for 17 years, and have learned that relying on variations inherent in generics leads to serious issues for people suffering with this disorder. Always go with the branded medication, you are removing variables that could lead to further confusion and trying to decide on new disorders responsible for the problems instead of poorly manufactured "copy" medication

I also stumbled into CorePharma. Like you, all the information I heard was really negative.

And this is my third consecutive month with CorePharma 30mg IR and they are, in my opinion, the best generic Adderall on the market January 2017.

Few side effects, great pep & motivation, improves problem solving skills.

I have seen this pattern develop the past 6-12 months. One of the generic manufacturers (Teva/Barr, Actavis, Sandoz, Aurobindo, CorePharma will rise to the top for a stretch of time.

Everybody is talking about how great it works (Like CorePharma 1/17) and all the others are garbabe or placebos.

I've seen all off them be on top for a minute.

My experience: They all work when the correct dosage is found.

Thank you everyone for your replies.

I was able to have my doctor write a new script for brand name and filled it at a mom-and-pop pharmacy chain next to my house.

I think I am done with CVS. They had previously ordered Teva brand for me no problems. This last time I dropped off my script like usual, got a notification one week later that it was filled, went to pick up and out of habit opened right at the counter before paying to verify only to see it was Mylan. I spoke to the Pharmacist who tried to argue with me that they couldn't accept the return because it "left the pharmacy" but eventually took it when I told them they can pull their security cameras to see it was opened right there and never left. So note to others...always verify your prescription right at the counter before you step away. Then they told me they would reorder Teva which I later found out was unsuccessful after 1 week. In summary this back and forth caused me to lose one months prescription because I didn't get to fill until 12/30 which means I can't fill until 1/30 now...

Just for anyone who is curious about Teva vs. Brand Name:

For me I could feel when Teva kicked in 30 mins or so after taking it because I would notice a "buzz" going through my system. I was almost hyper focused at times where if someone tried to speak to me it was hard to pull me away from my task. Appetite was slightly depressed but not as much as Brand Name. Moderate to high levels of coldness was experienced. Slight hits of anxiety here and there. And although I would feel it wear off eventually after my last dose I had trouble sleeping at night.

I did not feel when Brand name kicked in or wore off and I did not experience any insomnia. I actually felt myself get tired later in the day like i normally do unmedicated. I take my pills at 9am and 12pm. I experienced high levels of coldness. My focus intensity was not as intense but just as productive/effective meaning if ppl tried to talk to me or distract me from a task it was easier to get my attention. On Brand Name I had to force myself to eat or would forget constantly.

Just for reference - On Mylan, I felt when it kicked in and it only lasted 1-2 hours before I would become tired, easily distracted, and restless. I was very anxious and irritable and edgy. I also experienced insomnia. I think you have to test and try to see what works best for you. But there is definitely a difference in the various manufacturers.

Yeah I got the Camber brand and felt so sick. I legit didn’t want to do anything. I thought I was going to die because of how it made me feel. It was like I took a sleeping pill and I was on 15mg IR twice a day. Camber sucks! I reported it and they said they checked on it and are in compliance.

Different people react differently

Sandoz = Chill, focused effects. Good for long work hours that doesn't require being active.

But it goes give me anxiety more.

Teva= Focused. semi chill but also it makes me wanna clean up my house, socialize and get s*** done.

Camber= The new generic. Same with Teva so far. Not bad.

Try it yourself with Camber. Don't listen to the only critics, it works great with me so far as I am typing this comment.

It's 2022 and I'm dealing with this now. I'm in jeopardy of losing clients because I can't get out of bed. I'm falling asleep on my way to and from work. I'm so miserable being this exhausted!! Now there is a shortage and ofc only the horrible pink ones seem to be available. Pharmacies no longer say they can order specific manufacturers for customers AND refuse to tell me who they carry. Say it's because of robberies!! What?! Drug addicts are picking off pharmacies based on brands now?!! I can't win. I just know I'm sooo tired I can barely function. I'm getting by doing the bare minimum.

UPDATE: I just spoke with my pharmacist, and yes adderall CAN CAUSE HAIR LOSS!!! WTH!!! Why the heck is this not listed as a side effect??!! I would've NEVER started taking this medication!!! Now what?! I Really thought I had found what I've been missing my whole life!!! I can concentrate, I actually finish tasks, and so much more... So, it's either stop taking this medication, that helps me so much, or continue to take, and accept the fact that I could be bald within a few months.. This is awful!! I feel like I'm living a nightmare.. So, obviously I'll have to stop taking this medication.. Does anyone know of another alternative? I will definitely ask my dr, but he's not even aware that adderall can cause hair loss.. Please help!

I have tried Teva generic (Walgreens), Corepharma, Mallincort and Teva. The Corepharma are by far the best for your ADD symptoms with the least amount of side effects! Trust me. The Teva does nothing. The Mallincort are terrible and crumble in your hands. The Aurobindo is straight speed with no ADD help (really hated those). Corepharma are smooth and not over whelming and give great focus and concentration. Isn't that what you want in a ADD med?

I have been very disappointed of Teva's IR. About 6+ mo ago, it was my choice of generics.

My last two refills were (and I can't emphasize this enough) -absolutely horrible!!

Irritability, low potency, and depression

Anyone, who has had Teva IR filled very recently care to comment ?

The Teva 20mg causes me depression and the comedown is really harsh. I'm on 60mg/day and I get angry easily with the kids late in the day. I've only srarted this generic again in the last month because I can't find the core pharma anywhere now.
The core pharma IR was really good and I was stable through the day, never noticed the comedown. It wasn't quite as potent at onset but I cannot take the Teva anymore.
The Teva formulation seems dangerous...like the only way to not feel terrible is to take more. My ex wife discovered those and it spiraled to the point it destroyed her life.
I have a refill rx and am calling around to find something different. Aurobindo two months ago felt like 1/2 a dose and the Malloncrodt did almost nothing.
Very frustrated.

When a generic company changes their formula, they must file a ANDA with the FDA, just as they did when they initially began manufacturing,

The "kicker" is this:

THEY complete the "Tests" that the FDA requires to show:
____________________________
bioavailability / bioequivalence.
____________________________

Moreover, the "results" are --not made available to the public--.

So, if it is "just barely in the acceptable range" according to the FDA, we would not know.

Moreover, you just know the internal and external validity of these "tests" must be questionable, to say the least!
