I am taking Belviq but I have a sinus infection and need to take something. Are there certain OTC drugs that interfere with Belviq. I'm thinking anything with Dextromethorphan in it shouldnt be taken. ## Hello, Shandra! How are you? If you have a sinus infection, there is no over the counter product that will eradicate it. You'll need an antibiotic, which must be prescribed by your doctor. The FDA lists the typical side effects of antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been on Belviq now for only a week but I feel like I need a nap after taking it. I really am excited to try this medication but would like to now if the fatigue will go away once my body gets use to it. Don't have the energy to do any kind of exercise which I intended riding my bike and walking. ## Hello, Bert! How are you? I'm sorry about the way you're feeling. Yes, the FDA does list that as being a reported side effect of this medication, you may also experience nausea, dry mouth, dizziness, mood changes and insomnia. Things should improve, once your body adjusts to the medication, but that may take about 4 weeks. If not, then you should speak to your doctor as it may not be the right medication for you. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Some people feel f...

Can you take montelukast 10mg and Belviq together. And how long before the pill start to work. ## Hello, Bren! How are you? I didn't find any interactions or problems listed between these two medications, but it's always best to double check such information to be sure. The FDA lists Belviq as being used to aid in weight loss and while some people do feel some immediate effects, it generally takes about 2 weeks, before you start seeing results. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, headache, dizziness and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hello :-) I have been on Belviq for two weeks now. I feel no different other than I'm more tired than usual. My appetite and cravings havn't changed at all, really I'm no different, weight is the same. Should I give it longer? I take 10mg when I first get up, and when I get home from work at 5pm before dinner. I have used Adipex in the past a few times and it too, did absolutely nothing. I found that weird as friends who took it couldnt sleep ect. Could it be something wrong with me? Thanks. ## Hello, Danielle! How are you? It doesn't necessarily mean that there is something wrong with you, not all medications work for everyone that tries them. It's just the nature of life and biology. However, you should give it a couple more weeks, so it can reach its full level of...

Just moved to the Orange County Ca area and would like to find a Doctor who will prescribe Belviq for weight loss ## Hello, Chelle! How are you? Unfortunately, there is no directory of doctors according to what they will or will not prescribe that I can refer to for you. You'll really just need to see a doctor, discuss your problem and then tell them that you'd like to try it. However, you do need to meet certain criteria for it to be prescribed, such as being a certain amount overweight based on your BMI. Qysimia may also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, diarrhea and anorexia. Do you have a PCP in your new location, yet? If so, they might be able to help, or refer you to someone that can. Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area? ## Hi Chelle, I just moved ...

Hello. As stated before by others I went to my PCP today and he would not prescribe it to me... Instead said I need to see a dietician.. I meet all the criteria listed. I also did all my research... He wouldn't give me a name of another doctor. He printed out websites to help me lose weight. I am located in northeast Ohio. Does anyone know a doctor I can see? Do I try and find a different PCP?

My Doctor suggested I try Belviq since I am about 30 lbs overweight and smoke like a chimney. I have been trying Chantix off and on for about three years, and had varying success. I am down big time to a half pack a day from 1.5 packs a day. Not sure I want to do the swap. Has anyone else had success with Belviq for quitting? ## Hello, Arabella! How are you? Belviq is approved for weight loss by the FDA, but I've not heard or read anything about it being used to help with smoking cessation. However, your doctor is allowed to prescribe medications off-label, according to their own experience, so they may know it to work for other people. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache and anorexia. Has anyone used it to stop smoking? #...

This is my fourth day taking Belviq. I am pretty frustrated and disappointed because after a meal this morning I took Belviq and then 1.5 hours later I was hungry all over again. I have a lot of hunger and many many cravings. I do not feel any different and I'm not sure if it's working at all. When I take pills they usually work that same day, why isn't this one helpting at all and how long to I have to use it to find out? ## It needs to be in your system continuously for several days before it may work. Two a day is what is needed. Take them before your meals. Try first thing in the morning and then late afternoon.

Any one have this side effect? Thanks ## Hello, Andy! How are you feeling? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. If the pain is that severe, you should have this checked out. This might not be the right medication for you to take, it may be causing a condition, such as an ulcer or gastritis. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Belviq as possibly including nausea, anxiety, bladder pain, sore throat and sneezing. Is there anything else I can help with?

so i started taking belviq two days ago and have a rash/hives on my stomach thighs back and arms do i just have to wait for my body to adjust to the drug? ## Hello, Ivy! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. You should have this checked out by your doctor. If what you're experiencing is an allergic reaction, then it's not going to go away. As a matter of fact, repeated exposure to the allergen will usually actually cause such reactions to get worse. The FDA classifies Belviq as a weight loss medication and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, anxiety, bladder pain, cold sweat and cough. I'm nauseated, dry mouth, headache, muscle ache, tired. I just started today but I feel like crap. I can't feel this bad and try to work. Like some of the other posts, I get anxiety when starting new meds due to history with bad side affects with other meds. Also can I take melatonin and be on this? I suffer from insomnia sometimes and need this to help me get to sleep. Even thought Belviq makes me feel tired I may still have issues with getting to sleep or staying asleep. Thanks for the informational discussion board. ## Hello, Susan! How are you? I'm sorry that you're feeling so miserable. Those are all normal side effects of Belviq, as listed by the FDA, you may also experience frequent urination, nightmares, flushing, swollen glands and sweating. However, side effect...

I know that Belviq is a controlled substance, but is it a narcotic? ## No. Belviq is not a narcotic. It is a controlled substance because there is a very small action on the same receptors in the brain that some hallucinogenic drugs act upon, but the level of action at therapeutic doses is extremely small. In studies for abuse potential, patients preferred the feeling they got on the placebo more than they liked the intentional overdose of Belviq.

Can you take belviq with rsd/crps?I have been taking this med since nov 2013 ## Hello, Nick! How are you? I'm very sorry about your medical conditions. There is a chance that the Belviq may make your more miserable. According to the side effect profile provided by the FDA, it has been known to cause body aches and pains, as well as nausea, dizziness, headache, blurred vision, diarrhea and rash. Has it been prescribed by your doctor?

Can the Belviq pill be cut into 1/4's and taken like that? Will it affect the pills effect? The side effects are bad in re to headache and I thought if I cut it into 1/4's I would do better. thank you ## Hello, DeeJega! How are you? I'm sorry about the headaches. If you're still taking the full dosage, then cutting the tablet into smaller pieces won't alleviate the side effects. However, the good news is that they are usually transient and should improve, then eventually go away entirely, in a few weeks, once your body gets used to the medication. According to the FDA side effect list, you may also experience nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth and fatigue. Is there anything else I can help with?

HI, I have been on Belviq since December 4th. the past few days I have had a bad appetite and wanting sweets. I haven't had this issue since I have been on it. I have lost 42lbs since December 4th. Really scared Belviq isin't working for me anymore. ## Hello, Debra! How are you? From what I've read from others that have taken it, the cravings are normal. Most people experienced them, at some point. No medication can really do everything, it can just help. However, it has also been known to not work, or stop working for some people. Have you consulted your doctor, yet? They would be the best judge of what is going on. Some people also hit a plateau and found that it took a month or so, for their weight loss to start up, again. Hello, I have been taking Belviq for several months. This morning, I may have taken two doses within a one-hour time span. I'm just not sure. If I did, should I be concerned? Lesson learned. I absolutely must place these in a daily dose dispenser so there is no question whether I've taken it or not. ## How are you? Did you experience any adverse effects? Typically, doubling up on most medications isn't dangerous, unless it's a narcotic or something that depresses the central nervous system, but it could cause the side effects to be more severe. So, you may experience more nausea, dizziness, coughing and tiredness than usual, as listed among its typical side effects by the FDA. However, it is always best to consult your doctor to be sure and for your own safety. ## I'...

If belviq needs to be stopped, can you just stop or do you have to wean off of it? Also, how close is belviq to zoloft? I was once on zoloft and it didn't decrease my appetite. ## Hello, Arlene! How are you? Belviq is not related to Zoloft, it contains the active ingredient Lorcaserin, which the FDA lists as a weight-loss drug, though it does have some serotonergic properties. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, coughing, back pain and headache. I am not aware of it needing to be tapered, but your doctor would be the best judge of that. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you so much for answering my question. I didn't see anywhere the need for tapering med, just wanted to make sure.
