I have been on Belviq for 2 years. I lost all my weight about 75 Pounds. I have maintained for a year. My doctor has kept me on it. I went to a new Dr and they wont let me continue on the medicine. It really has helped me control my hunger. I have changed my lifestyle and eating habits but I have a HUGE appetite. Is it harmful to stay on it if you are t a normal weight and it helps you stay there? Also when I have stopped before I get so sick, like the worst case of the flu. ## You can take it, as long as your doctor feels it is safe for you to take it. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, nervousness, insomnia, and anorexia. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? What symptoms did you experience, when you tried to stop it?

I'm taking Belviq which was working fine the first week now it's causing constipation and I notice I'm not losing any weight due to the constipation. I want to continue with Belviq but what can I do about the constipation? I feel it's stopping me from losing weight ## Have you received any responses to this question? I am having this same problem. I go several days with no desire to make a BM. I have been on belviq for 3 months and I haven't lost any pounds besides the 1st 12 lbs from the 1st month. I'm exercising and counting calories. Thinking about stopping this medication but afraid of belviq withdrawal symptoms. ## Constipation is a known side effect of this medication, according to FDA reports. You may also experience fatigue, chills, anxiety, and insomnia....

I have been on belviq for 3 months and it seems like Belviq doesn't suppress my appetite. I did lose the 12lbs required to continue taking it, however I worked out a lot and counted calories. It has been very hard because I am still hungry very often. What do I need to do for belviq to start helping with my appetite and cravings? ## It might not be the right medication for you, not every one works for everyone that tries it, which is why there are usually other options available to try in any given therapeutic class. Have you experienced any of its typical side effects, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, hypertension, or insomnia? ## I had side effects the first month but they all went away.

I am currently taking Bupropion and a probiotic which slightly suppresses my appetite. I will be starting Belviq this week (still waiting for it to be delivered) and I'm concerned about the interaction with the probiotic. I have been weaning myself off of the Bupropion, but should I discontinue the probiotic also?

Hi,, I started taking Belviq 3 days ago. About 4 hours after I take it I start itching all over.Has anyone had this side effect? Does anyone have any tips?It is driving me crazy. Also, I was taking Phentermine but my doctor took me off it. Does anyone know if you can take it with Belviq? Seems like it would help with the drowsiness. ## Generally, they are not prescribed together, since there is a greater risk of your experiencing more severe side effects, which could include nausea, dizziness, headache, nervousness, insomnia, and anorexia, according to FDA reports. Has there been any change to the itching? Did you also experience hives, or a rash? If so, that could be the sign of an allergic reaction and this might not be a safe medication for you to take. ## Thank you very much on the ...

This is my first week on Belviq. At times I still feel hungry... How long does it take to get into your system? I'm also on Toprol 25mg... Would this drug be interacting with the effects of Belviq? I take 1 tablet twice daily of the Belviq... Thank you so much ## You are still going to feel hungry. It should help you feel full faster when you are eating. Make sure to take the medications before your meals and not with them. I think peak in your system is after two hours. They are coming out with a once a day which will make all that easier. ## Wait, if you are only taking once a day that may be the problem . This medicine should be prescribed twice a day. ## how Did belviq work for you? im going to start it today

I've changed to a healthier diet and increased my water intake starting on my 1st day of Belviq.....and I've gained 4 lbs, yet my clothes feel looser? How is this happening? ## Hi Chase, What you're describing when you mention gaining weight but losing inches, is in my experience with strength training, a result of increasing muscle mass and losing fat simultaneously (for muscle weighs more than fat). I can't say for sure that this is what's happening with you, but I really don't think it's anything to be alarmed of. If I were in this position, I'd probably give the medication a little more time to see how it affects me before deciding whether the benefits outweigh the risks, etc... But also be sure to question your doctor if you continue to notice anythi...

I have GAD (anxiety) and part of my anxiety is taking medication. I really want to try Belviq, if I had an anxiety attack would I be able to take Xanax or Ativan for the attack? Does anyone else have anxiety and take Belviq? Does it make it worse? If you wean onto it (start with .5 and work up to .10) would you have a better chance of avoiding side effects? ## Hello, Ninny! How are you? Yes, it can be taken with Ativan or Xanax, as long as your doctor approves. But there is no .5 and .10 dosages of Belviq. The starting dose of it is 10mgs twice daily. This medication is approved by the FDA for weight loss and its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, frequent urination, seating and back pain. Xanax and Ativan are benzodiazepines, so they carry the risk of being habit formi...

Has anyone experienced night time Incontinence? I have lost 30 pounds and now have this problem. I feel like gaining back the 30. OVERWHELMED!! ## Hello, Betty! How are you doing? Has there been any change? This medication has been known to cause increased urination, as well as urinary tract infections. Given the incontinence, you might have an infection, according the symptoms listed by the NIH. Have you consulted your doctor? Are you on any other medications?

I am scheduled to have surgery in August. Do I need to stop taking Belviq prior to surgery? Does Belvíq affect wound healing? If I decide to stop temporarily is there a correct way to go about it? Do I need to taper off? ## According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, "if you are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are taking lorcaserin (Belviq)." - Source: medlineplus.gov/druginfo/meds/a613014.html So for good measure I think your best bet would probably be to contact your doctor/surgeon for pre, intra and post op instructions, cautions and guidelines as to what's safe and what isn't. Depending on the type of surgery you're having, there may be a list of contraindications you should be aware of. If Belviq was tho...

I am discontinuing Belvique due to awful side effects. This stuff is poison. I have lost all short term memory, can't remember the right words I want to use when speaking, my balance is gone and as a result, I have broken two crystal vases this week from dropping them. I feel like I'm not sharp at all. I also have a weird fullness in the right side of my neck, which feels like it's going to explode. ## I'm very sorry about the problems you had from taking this medication. The U.S. FDA does report that it can cause such issues as side effects in some people that take it. It may also cause nausea, dizziness, and nightmares. It also might be a good idea to have yourself checked out by your doctor to be sure. Is there anything else I can help with?

I took my first 10mg dose of Belviq at 5:40 pm and within an hour it felt like my hair was standing on end. I felt somewhat goofy/happy. Then became really anxious. Became very thirsty. My skin started to feel like I had a slight sunburn. No hives or rashes though. I know this was only one pill but it seemed really strong. It is 9:36 am the next day and I can still feel it in my system (side affects have subsided). I have not taken another pill yet because I had to go to work and didn't want to feel like I was high at work. Is this normal when you first start taking it? ## Hello, Laura! How are you? Yes, those can be side effects of this medication, as reported by the FDA. It may also cause nausea, headache, and anorexia. It might be best to change the time of you day you take it, s...

Hello, today is my 1st day taking Belviq - it took me awhile to start taking the medication because I'm afraid to take anything in the 1st place but I have run out of alternatives to get this weight down! I've lost 12 lbs on Hebalife but then plateaud! There are so many negative reviews that make me nervous but I also see positive ones as well. I am not counting calories but reducing my intake once again and I've been drinking ALOT of water and chewing gum in between snacks and meals. My biggest concern right now - today is that I feel like I am high, my mind is all over the place and I started to freak out a little bit - I have anxiety attacks to begin with so I'm afraid that this will alter that and THAT is not good! At one point this morning I also felt like I was goi...

I've been taking belviq for 2 months. Yesterday i missed a dose so i took 2 more (a total of 4) and i felt sick, lightheaded, couldn't focus, and had nightmares. Is this because i took 4 instead of my regular dose of 2? If so, what do people do in cases like this to push this out of your body? Does drinking milk help? ## Hello, Redrose! How are you? It is never advisable to double up, unless a medication specifically instructs you to do so, oral contraceptives would be one example… and even then, only if you've missed a tablet by 24 hours, or more. Have you experience any other issues, or adverse effects? The symptoms you experience are normal, according to the FDA, for having taken so much. You may also experience chills, vomiting, loss of appetite and diarrhea. Unfor...

I started taking Belviq 14 days ago. On day 11 I have been experiencing dizziness throughout the day that feel like a moderate case of vertigo. How long is this expected to last as a side effect? Should I cut to one pill a day to reduce this side effect? ## Hello, Karen! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're experiencing. Side effects tend to last for about the first month, while your body is getting used to the medication. Then they should gradually improve and go away entirely. If not, then you should consult your doctor. And no, lowering the dosage may make it go away for now, but it will just happen again, when you go back up. So, you shouldn't do that, unless your doctor okays it. Other side effects may include nausea, headache, weight loss and back pain....

What can I take for a cold with Belviq everything I've read is not given any information about anything for a cold except for Mucinex and you're not supposed to take that so I need to know what I can take over the counter ## Hi Darla, I realize you posted this back in March, so I hope you've gotten around to feeling better! Did you end up finding anything to take alongside Belviq for that cold? ...I was going to suggest looking into various types of essential oils (such as oregano, tea tree, ginger, lemon, lavender, etc.); tea & honey; and a diet rich in fresh organic fruits/veggies. Should you ever have one of those ongoing/annoying coughs that tickle your throat, I find that 1-2 drops of lavender oil (taken at least a few times throughout the day) in a small glass of w...

Hello I just started taking Belviq, and so for I haven't had any feelings of fullness or any side affects. Ive taken Addipex in the past and had an immediate feeling of fullness. Will this kick in ## Hello, Shelita! How are you? How long have you been taking it? Have there been any change, yet? Can anyone that's taken this medication chime in with their experience? Belviq does work differently than many other weight loss medications, it actually affects the chemicals in the brain that are connected to appetite. Thus, you may still feel hungry, but not as hungry and may not eat as much. As reported by the U.S. FDA, it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, headache, constipation, cough and back pain.

How long does belviq remain in your system once you quit taking it? ## Hello, Duckman! How are you? Approximately 55 to 66 hours, so it shouldn't take more than a few days. However, it may take longer for any side effects that one has experienced to go away. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia and anorexia. Is there anything else I can help with?

Started Belviq 3 days ago. Only 1 per day at night since I've tried it before & could not handle the symptoms taking 2 a day morning & afternoon. Again this time I experienced bad headache & the main thing I don't tolerate is the nausea. How long before this goes away? Or does it continue? Thanks. ## Side effects are usually transient and go away in time, as your body gets used to a medication, but that may take 4 to 5 weeks. You may also experience dizziness, headache, dry mouth and insomnia. Is there anything else I can help with?

After 3 days of taking belviq with no change in appetite suddenly on the fourth day it kicked in no desire to nineat and was very excited that this started working for me. That lasted for about 3 days and I lost 4 pounds and then it completely stopped working. Has this happened to anyone I am very disappointed to have paid and gone through the hassle of getting the medication for it to only work for a few days I am still taking it hoping it would kick back in. Please help. ## Hello, Nunu! How are you? You are not the only person to report such, usually, after a plateau phase, it does start to work, again, though. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, anorexia and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi thanks for the re...
