I have a slight fever and coughing and chest hurts. I have a bottle of zertalin azitromicini 6 500 mg tablets. This is a z-pack. Do I take one a day for six days.? ## I have a slight fever cough chest congestion and chest hurts when I cough. I took 1 500 mg of zertalin azithromycin today. There r 6 in the bottle. Do I take 1 per day for 6days ## Hello, Doreen! How are you feeling? This is an antibiotic, so it should only be taken, if your doctor confirms the presence of an infection. If you have a cold, it is caused by a virus, not a bacterial infection, so antibiotics aren't appropriate and will do nothing to treat it. The normal dosing, for many infections, is a 500mg starter dose, the 250mgs per day for the next 4 days. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including...

What i must not do when i am taking this medication ## Hello, Byron! How are you? This tablet is manufactured by Teva Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 500mgs of the antibiotic Azithromycin. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. You should be careful not to spend a lot of time in the sun, because it can make you more sensitive to it and you should take it one hour before, or 2 hours after a meal. I was prescribed by my doctor to take 1000mg at one time for an infection. I got the pills in MX and each bottle says 500mg and contains 6 capsules. Is each pill 500mg or all 6 pills together 500mg? Do I take it all at once or how do I administer these? ## Hello, Kristy! How are you? That means that each pill contains 500mgs of Azithromycin, so two would equal the 1,000mgs that your doctor prescribed and you should take it according to his dosing schedule. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

As listed by the FDA, this contains the antibiotic Azithromycin, which is used to treat various types of bacterial infections. Typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, you shouldn't take it, unless your doctor has confirmed the presence of an infection, because taking it improperly creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Im taking azithromycin 250 mg 5 day dose for broncitis and is it also safe to take benadryl with it? ## Hi Dana, Sorry to hear about the bronchitis. According to umm.edu's drug interaction checker, there are no interactions listed between azithromycin and benadryl (diphenhydramine). I found this to be the case on other webpages as well, which this leads me to believe that it should be fine to take the two together, provided that your doctor gives you the ok. I hope this info helps! And feel better soon!

At the suggestion of a hotel doctor I bought Azitromicina 500mg for the treatment of a chest infection in MX. Tried to submit a claim for the cost via my US insurance as they say they reimburse worldwide RX expenses. But now they want the 11 digit 'national drug code' or no payout. Can this product be used if person is diabetic ## Hi Clint, From what I could gather, Azitromicina (Azithromycin) does not list any contraindications against patients who have diabetes. So based off this information alone, I don't see any reason why it can't be used. However depending on the manufacturer, it may still be a good idea to double check the list of "inactive" ingredients for any artificial sweeteners like sucrose that diabetics could be sensitive to. On one last note, because this information is not a substitute for medical advice I'd always encourage you to talk with your doctor first before taking anything you are unsure of, especially if you have a pre-existing condition. I hope this helps!

Will Azithromicina 500 mg work for impacted tooth as well? ## Hi Johnny, From what I could gather, Azithromycin is commonly prescribed for dental related infections. However if the tooth needs to be extracted (perhaps via root canal) due to decay or nerve damage, my understanding is that an antibiotic will only help for so long until you get the necessary procedure(s) done. And to help address your other question about an impacted tooth, Azithromycin fights infections throughout your body and not just one specific area, so it really should cover all basis where an infection is present and not just a single tooth. Have you already gone to the dentist for an evaluation?
