After 2 hours of taking this medication i get drowsy, my legs and feet. I can barely pick up my feet to go out to the mailbox. I also have a loss of appetite.

This tablet contains the active ingredients Atenolol and Chlorthalidone, it is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and other cardiac diseases.

Have you been carefully monitoring your fluid intake?

The Chlorthalidone is a diuretic, which helps remove water from the body, to lower sodium build-up, which can contribute to high blood pressure, because one feeds off the other. High sodium leads to fluid build-up, fluid build-up increases the build-up of sodium, so it is kind of a vicious cycle.

If you aren't taking in enough fluids, then you might be dehydrated and the symptoms you mentioned can occur if you are.

Another possibility is that you are low in Potassium, the diuretic medications tend to cause you too lose it from the body and if you aren't taking in enough in your diet to make up for it, it can also cause these symptoms.

Has your doctor been keeping tabs on the potassium levels, by doing blood work?

I am very familiar with this, since it happened to me, a few weeks after I was released from the hospital for congestive heart failure and high blood pressure.

They had me on such high doses, that once the excess fluid was removed from my body, that had caused the heart failure, my body could no longer handle the medications. I almost ended up back in the hospital with a case of severe dehydration and low potassium. I was just fortunate that I have a doctor that paid attention and rectified the situation immediately.

Your symptoms perfectly put me in mind of these conditions, because I felt so awful, that it was a chore just to get up and walk to my bathroom.

Please consult your doctor immediately and post back and let us know how you are doing!
