Do you still have an empty box? Perhaps we can find manufacturer or 800 number to call. I don't have a box to look at. ## I called the distributor, Insight Pharmaceuticals, who said it is no longer made -- which we already knew. They said it was a dead issue and there would be no place that still has it in stock. There must be someplace. ## I want to know who the rocket scientist was who decided to stop making it. That was a very stupid decision. ## I suggest we all look at BigLots! They usually carry closeout items for a while after it's taken off the shelves. After that, we are out of luck! It was a wonderful product. I can't imagine ...
114 REPLIES UpdatedAspergum was the best product I have found for a sore throat. I didn't chew it for headaches, just for a sore throat. Actually, according to information I have been reading about sugarless gum, I'd rather chew Aspergum. The sugar substitutes used today are way more harmful than Aspergum could be. I agree about a "bring back Aspergum" campaign. Maybe someone would actually listen to the comments of the "little guy" sometime. If it was around for so many years, why all of a sudden did it no longer become worthwhile. Check out the information on sugar substitutes used in sugarless gums and then decide if you want to chew those products anymore. BRING BACK ASPERGUM! ## Aspergum is gone forever. So Sad! Great product of the past. Too many children were probably chewin...
4 REPLIES UpdatedTo be short and sweet, Aspergum was used for years, this was an inexpensive over the counter product that you could choose to use for a sore thoat. There were two flavors, orange and cherry. I don't see why it can't be brought back in it's original for a limited timed to see how it doe's. In all fairness, it should receive advertisement and be sold in all large stores such as: Walmart, Target, Publix, Walgreen's, CVS, etc... ## Hello, Evy! How are you? The owners of this website do not manufacturer, or sell any products or medications, it is an information only website. So, they have no influence on such decisions. As to Aspergum, the reason it was removed from the market was because of accidental ingestion by children. Since it was gum that was fruit flavored, child...
2 REPLIES UpdatedAre there any drug stores that sell aspergum? Or anything that is real good for a sore throat and cough. ## Hello, Susie! How are you? I'm sorry, but Aspergum was removed from the market years ago, due to the risk it posed of accidental poisonings, since many children just thought it was regular gum, according to FDA reports. Though Retrobrands did buy the trademark this year and say they plan to relaunch the product. I'm not sure what is available where you live, you may want to ask your doctor or pharmacist to recommend something. There are several liquid cough and cold syrups available that contain ingredients that may help. Are you on any other medications? ## I will be so happy if they bring it back to the market it used to get rid of sore throat pain quicker than anything ...
2 REPLIES Updatedaspergum was taken when you had your tonsils out as an adult. Where can find it in Toronto ## Chantal I looked it up, and looks like they quit making it in 2006. All it was, was a gum with aspirin in it. You can get the same effect letting a baby aspirin dissolve in you mouth, then swishing and swallowing with a little water. Hope this Helps.
1 REPLY UpdatedMy mom gave me aspergum when I was little to soothe my sore throat. I wasn't able to share the relief with my children. So, start making it again for my Grandchildren. But in the mean time, I'm suffering with a sore thoat that would be controlled if aspergum were still available. ## I'm sorry, but this website does not manufacture, prescribe, nor sell any medications or products. It only provides people with information on them, so it is no way affiliated with Aspergum or those that used to make it. And the reason it was removed from the market was because of accidental poisonings of children, since it was a gum, many kids got a hold of it and would just chew tons of it, not knowing it was actually a medication. Thus, it is a product that the U.S. FDA will not ever allow bac...
1 REPLY UpdatedLocations of where it can be purchased ## Have you considered an alternative product called Cepacol? It is also indicated for immediate sore throat relief. The ingredients are different from Aspergum, but perhaps it will do the same job? Active Ingredients: (in each lozenge): Benzocaine USP 15mg (Oral Anesthetic) + Menthol 3.6 mg (Oral Anesthetic) Cherry Honey Lemon Mixed Berry <IMG border="0" src=" Best of luck! ## Cepacol is not worth a darn. Nothing over the counter helps like ASPERGUM. Where can I purchase some ## Just started my search for aspergum, and was shocked that it is no longer being made. The doc gave me some when I had my tonsils out, and wanted some for my grandaughter for the same reason. I agree about Cepacol not being very useful. Gargling is good, ...
12 REPLIES UpdatedI can't find it anywhere. I've gone to Walgreen's, CVS, Walmart, K-Mart, and I just can't find it. Walgreen's and CVS have never heard of it. That was surprising. Can you tell me who carries it or where I can order it? ## There was a very recent topic about it on here, Aspergum has been discontinued by the manufacturer. Over the past few years, sales have severely declined and they have also had complaints regarding how dangerous it is, being in gum form, since young children may chew it, thinking it is just regular gum. ## OK, I read many of the posts and I'm sure the product was discontinued because it worked so well and would cut too deeply into the profit margins of other major products on the market. If anyone would even buy the patent for this product to ma...
2 REPLIES UpdatedHated it when forced to chew it as a kid but now I realize how great it is/was and need it for my husb. who never heard of it...please please let me know if it's located...Thanks ## Aspergum contained the active ingredient Aspirin and it was removed from the market many years ago, because many children would see it and think it was just a tasty chewing gum. This caused many illnesses and overdoses, as well as the threat of Reyes Syndrome. So, you will not locate it in the U.S. Is there anything else I can help you with? ## thank you for your reply to my aspergum question. It is sad that adults can't be trusted to read warning labels and not give aspirin to kids. I'm disappointed but que sera! ## Yes, you are right on that. In this case, however, it wasn't always a case o...
4 REPLIES UpdatedI remember Aspergum from my childhood in NY. Up until about four years ago, it was available in FL but only at CVS. The product worked exceptionally well if taken at the first signs of a sore throat. Today I called the company and was advised that insufficient sales of the product led to it being discontinued. Well, perhaps if they had made it available at more pharmacies, i.e. Walgreens, Rite Aid, Walmart, Target, etc., sales would have been up. Anyway, here is their number (800) 344-7239. Maybe if they receive enough calls, they'd consider bringing it back ... it's worth a shot. ## That may be what they are told to tell people, however, it is not the real reason it was pulled from the market. It was actually pulled because of the dangers to children. There had been many compla...
