Aspergum! Maybe If Enough People Call ...

I remember Aspergum from my childhood in NY. Up until about four years ago, it was available in FL but only at CVS. The product worked exceptionally well if taken at the first signs of a sore throat. Today I called the company and was advised that insufficient sales of the product led to it being discontinued. Well, perhaps if they had made it available at more pharmacies, i.e. Walgreens, Rite Aid, Walmart, Target, etc., sales would have been up. Anyway, here is their number (800) 344-7239. Maybe if they receive enough calls, they'd consider bringing it back ... it's worth a shot.

That may be what they are told to tell people, however, it is not the real reason it was pulled from the market.

It was actually pulled because of the dangers to children.

There had been many complaints to the FDA, resulting from children thinking it was just chewing gum. This caused quite a few illnesses, organ damage, Reyes Syndrome cases and several fatalities.

The active ingredient was Apsirin, which can be very harmful if used incorrectly.

Thus, I think the chances of it ever being brought back are very slim, especially since it was the FDA that called for its removal.
