I have been taking Mobic for a couple of years now, only 7.5 mg per day and they have had a marked improvement for me. I am going away for 5 weeks to Asia and didn't want to take them with me, being as the climate is very warm. Can I stop taking the Mobic abruptly, or should I wean myself off them slowly. ## Hi Cheri, Based on my research, it is generally regarded as safe to stop taking Meloxicam without actually requiring a withdrawal process. Reason being is that Meloxicam is an nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) just like aspirin is, and there are no addictive properties involved. The only thing I might anticipate is the resumption of any pain that Mobic might've been controlling otherwise; depending on what you were taking it for. You can learn more about this drug ...

I am interested in hearing from anyone who has used this treatment for back & or Knee problems..... My right knee has bone on bone in one area, along with it being arthritic. A few weeks ago I learned of this being treated using a Laser....I have had 7 or 9 scheduled treatments, each 20 minutes, and each costing $75. I knew Medicare did not cover them, but am now awaiting word from my secondary insurance. My pain for the most part is less than before I started treatment, but I am by no means 100% pain free. If my insurance company picks up part of the payments I will continue treatment to see if it gets any better, ## there are Chiropractors on both coasts now claiming they can treat and heal everything from an aching back to bone on bone knee problems, with 20 minutes of a high plu...

do cortisone shots contain any glass? ## Hi josie, Based on my research, cortisone is a steroid hormone. It is one of the main hormones released by the adrenal gland in response to stress. In chemical structure, it is a corticosteroid closely related to corticosterone. It is used to treat a variety of ailments and can be administered intravenously, orally, intraarticularly (into a joint), or transcutaneously. Cortisone suppresses the immune system, thus reducing inflammation and attendant pain and swelling at the site of the injury. To answer your question, I haven't heard/read anything about cortisone shots containing glass. The specific inactive ingredients can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, so if you're planning on getting one just post back and let me know of the ma...

Is there gluten in the Orthovisc injectable? ## Hi Diane, From what I was able to gather, the product labeling does not list their inactive ingredients (which may or may not include gluten). Further administration precautions note the following: "Orthovisc Precautions: Before using hyaluronate, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to bird proteins, feathers, or egg products; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients (such as latex found in the rubber syringe cap of some brands), which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details." Since the product labeling is very vague, I think it would be best to just follow those guidelines and contact your local pharmacy for more info...

I have an uncommon form of Rheumatoid Arthritis (resistant to normal treatments). As well, had a work injury which damaged my neck, arm and back a few years ago. There are times when I am unable to walk... and times I wake up in the middle of the night screaming due to joint pain. If anyone knows of a doctor that is not afraid to prescribe pain meds, I would greatly appreciate it. Please... and Thank you.
