No, neither Omeprazole, nor Allopurinol are anti-inflammatories. Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that is used to help reduce the amount of stomach acid your produce, to help with conditions such as heartburn, GERD, ulcers, and gastritis. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, and stomach pain.
Allopurinol is used to treat gout, and kidney stones. Its typical side effects may include dizziness, headache, nausea, diarrhea, and skin rash.
Ulcerative Colitis cannot be cured, it can only be managed via medications, such as the one you've been prescribed, and proper diet. The typical side effects of Canasa may include nausea, has, headache, rectal pain, and stomach pain.
It would be best to follow your doctors instructions to get your condition under control.
What does your normal diet consist of?
I had a colonoscopy done and sow the swilling in the picture taken. I was told that my problem is chronic. The doctor prescribed CANASA 1000 MG. This medication is so expansive that it cost me over $500 for 30 day supply, that is thru insurance. Per my search online, this medication dose not cure ulcerative proctitis but it may decrease the number of stools, the amount of mucus/blood in the stools, and the rectal bleeding caused by irritation/swelling of the colon/rectum. Mesalamine is an aminosalicylate anti-inflammatory drug. It is believed to work by blocking the production of certain natural chemicals that may cause pain and swelling.
How can my condition be treated effectively, rather just blocking the production of certain natural chemicals that may cause pain and swelling. Please help
Thanks.
